After six years, the first official trailer for Den of Thieves 2: Pantera has arrived, giving us our first look at the upcoming heist thriller starring Gerard Butler and O'Shea Jackson Jr., although it looks like there will be a slight twist to their dynamic this time as, instead of trying to one up one another, they'll be teaming up to pull off the diamond heist of a lifetime.
However, the synopsis is not quite as revealing, telling us that "Big Nick (Butler) is back on the hunt in Europe and closing in on Donnie (Jackson), who is embroiled in the treacherous and unpredictable world of diamond thieves and the infamous Panther mafia, as they plot a massive heist of the world’s largest diamond exchange."
In addition to Gerard Butler (300; Olympus Has Fallen) and O'Shea Jackson Jr. (Straight Outta Compton; Godzilla: King of the Monsters) reprising their roles from the previous installment,...

Filmmaker Zack Snyder seems to be on a roll. After releasing the R-rated director’s cut of his space opera Rebel Moon, the filmmaker announced that work had begun on a TV series based on his breakthrough film 300. It was announced earlier this year that a prequel series was in development at Warner Bros. with Snyder’s team producing.
While fans are excited for a Game of Thrones-esque series set in Frank Miller’s 300 universe, they seem to be a bit weary of Zack Snyder’s involvement as a writer. Many have expressed their disdain for his original works such as the Rebel Moon franchise and have requested him to stick to the producing and directing part.

Netflix’s ‘Twilight of the Gods’ mixes Norse mythology with sex, magic, and extreme violence as its strives for a mythical quest that’s truly for mature audiences.
“The age of petty Gods must end.”
The past decade has been a goldmine for subversive tales about Gods and mythological warriors, whether it’s American Gods, Ragnarok, Kaos, or even YA fare like the Percy Jackson series. Additionally, animation has really run wild with this subject matter in both despondent action dramas like Blood of Zeus and farcical comedies like Krapopolis. This is certainly territory that feels right at home for a stylized filmmaker like Zack Snyder, who initially turned heads with his historical action epic, 300, only to tackle increasingly fantastical subject matter and repeated ruminations on the nature of “Gods.” In this sense, Twilight of the Gods feels like it’s been a long time coming for Snyder. Zack Snyder adapted Frank Miller’s historically inaccurate comic book tale of the Battle of Thermopylae to give fans a great David vs Goliath war story in 300. Gerard Butler’s Leonidas led an army of 300 soldiers to face off against the 300,000 soldiers of the Persian God-King Xerxes in the film. It appears that Warner Bros. has invited Snyder back to explore more of the 300 universe.

The Man of Steel director provided his latest update on the film, sharing that he is ready to dive into the film very soon. Snyder co-wrote the screenplay for a 300 sequel in 2014, which did not impress the audience as much as the original. Fans are ready for the next Game of Thrones-like television tale from Snyder.

Wit Studio has showcased on many occasions that it shouldn’t be pushed to the side in terms of animation and storytelling with how many successful projects it has helmed. From Spy x Family and Suicide Squad Isekai to Attack on Titan and Vinland Saga; there is no shortage of quality within the animation studio. It has been handling multiple projects in one go and on almost all occasions, there is little compromise.

It is coming to Hollywood’s attention just how well live-action adaptations can be made and how profitable they are if they are done right. The Last of Us, One Piece, Rurouni Kenshin, and Alita: Battle Angel are only a few to be named. If the approach isn’t wrong, neither would the execution and response. This is also something many are hoping to see with Destin Daniel Cretton’s Naruto film.

It is hard to imagine a Zack Snyder film without his trademark slow-motion shots, extensive CGI, and biblical references. But, the Man of Steel filmmaker’s feature film debut had very less of his signature filmmaking techniques but propelled him into the mainstream. Many fans still believe his remake of Dawn of the Dead is still his best film.
Snyder himself has spoken about being proud of what he could do with the film. A remake of George A. Romero’s classic horror film, the film was written by James Gunn. Both Gunn and Snyder would cross paths again to make two separate iterations of Superman in their careers. Snyder’s debut, despite being his best, is one of his lowest-grossing films.

Image Source: Amazon When the 2009 action film Gamer debuted, featuring a then-emerging Gerard Butler, fresh from successes like 300 and P.S. I Love You, it seemed poised for triumph. The film’s premise was captivating: in a dystopian future, death row inmates battle for their freedom in a ruthless online game controlled by teenage players. It had all the ingredients of a blockbuster—intense action, a thought-provoking concept, and a charismatic lead. However, Gamer stumbled at the box office, failing to resonate with both critics and audiences. What appeared to be a guaranteed hit became a commercial disappointment. Yet, over time, Gamer has cultivated a dedicated cult following through home video and cable broadcasts. Despite its occasionally over-the-top elements, the film remains an exhilarating and thought-provoking experience. Even back then, Gerard Butler recognized something unique in the film. Netflix released the official trailer for “Twilight of the Gods,“ Zack Snyder’s 2D adult animated series about the clash between Norse gods and mortals (premiering September 19). The mythic tale of vengeance and power unfurls amidst an abundance of choreographic violence and gore.
It’s a tragic love story that begins with badass warrior Sigrid (Sylvia Hoeks) heroically saving the life of mortal king Leif (Stuart Martin) — in slow-mo, of course, with beautiful streaks of blood. But their wedding day is destroyed by Thor (Pilou Asbæk), who slaughters her family, sending Sigrid on a vengeful rampage. With Leif by her side, she forms a band of rebels to kill Thor, with the support of Paterson Loki (Paterson Joseph), who wants to take over the world of the gods.

Michael Fassbender became a household name for playing the role of Magneto in 20th Century Fox’s X-Men universe. He started playing a younger version of the character in 2011’s X-Men: First Class and continued till 2016’s X-Men: Apocalypse. However, it was not the 2011 Marvel movie but Zack Snyder’s 300 that sparked Fassbender’s interest in comic book films.

The success and popularity of the One Piece Live Action was unexpected, given the live action curse in the anime industry. It defied expectations, maintaining the top position on Netflix, weeks after its release. Fans got to see many new faces portraying their favorite One Piece characters, especially the actors who played the Strawhats. These actors did a great job at bringing the characters to life without making their performances seem caricature-like.

It's finally the last weekend of August, which means we're getting so close to fall. While the weather might not be totally cooperating just yet, Netflix has already announced its fall movie lineup and continued to announce which series will be back for new seasons throughout the rest of the year. The streamer dropped two brand-new series that will have everyone talking, the Greek mythology dark comedy Kaos and the Spanish medical drama Breathless. Well, it seems like Quentin Tarantino’s long-awaited 10th and final film will not be a “Toy Story” installment.
The director said during Bill Maher’s YouTube (video) podcast “Club Random” that the original “Toy Story” trilogy is one of the greatest trio of films of all time. According to Tarantino, the franchise overextended with the fourth installment. Well, he’s gonna hate this news: a fifth “Toy Story” was announced earlier this year with original director Andrew Stanton returning to the chair. “Toy Story 5” will center on children who become obsessed with technology; it is slated for a June 19, 2026 release.
“I don’t watch all the animated movies and stuff, but I’m a big fan of the ‘Toy Story’ trilogy,” Tarantino told Maher in the below video. “In the case of ‘Toy Story,’ the third one is just magnificent. It’s one of the best movies I’ve ever seen.

Norse gods and mortals clash in all their bloody glory in Zack Snyder’s 2D adult animated series, “Twilight of the Gods,” premiering on Netflix September 19. The streamer has released a red band teaser trailer that revels deliciously in all of the graphic gore.
The hardcore action-adventure, which looks like a cross between “300” and Cartoon Saloon’s “Wolfwalkers” on acid, is set against a love story between badass warrior Sigrid (Sylvia Hoeks) and mortal king Leif (Stuart Martin), whom she saves on the battlefield. However, their wedding day is tragically destroyed by Thor (Pilou Asbæk), causing Sigrid to go on a vengeful rampage.
The series (from The Stone Quarry and Xilam Animation) is co-created by Snyder, Jay Oliva, and Eric Carrasco, with Deborah Snyder, Wesley Coller, and Oliva executive producing. Snyder, Oliva, Tim Divar, Andrew Tamandl, and David Hartman direct the eight episodes.

Actress Lena Headey became known around the world as the hated Cersei Lannister in Game of Thrones. The infamous Queen was known for her political games, much like her father Tywin Lannister. Headey’s performance was consistently appreciated and she was even nominated for five Emmys and a Golden Globe.
On the personal front, however, Leadey seemed to have had a tough time. Despite earning a whopping $1.2 million salary in later seasons of the fantasy show, Headey claimed that she had less than $5 in her account during her divorce from ex-husband Peter Loughran.

Many people see Zack Snyder as one of the top directors for franchises. His reputation really took off with the release of his director’s cut of Justice League. Since then, his movies have become highly anticipated, and anything he directs is almost guaranteed to be a hit.

However, over time, even though his new films have pleased a good number of viewers, the general opinion has been the opposite. Gradually, what the director delivered didn’t hit the mark as much, leading to some speculation. Even his second highest-grossing film, Army of the Dead, was impacted by this, but some fans quickly voiced their opinions.

I Survived a Marathon of Zack Snyder’s Unrated ‘Rebel Moon’ — But Still Can’t Tell You Why It Exists
I’ve never seen a line for the men’s room at the American Cinématheque as long as the one that confronted me at intermission of the marathon screening of Zack Snyder’s “Rebel Moon” this weekend. Meanwhile, there were so few women in attendance that the ladies’ room had practically no wait at all — a phenomenon that said everything about the crowd that had turned out for a big-screen look at the 373-minute director’s cut of Snyder’s two-part space opera.
To call this roided-out macro-edition of “Rebel Moon” a “director’s cut” is to willingly buy into Netflix’s egregious misrepresentation of a project that had been conceived to exist in two separate versions all along: a by-no-means-neutered and still-plenty-aggro PG-13 version, and now this, a much longer and far gorier cut, crammed with exploding-head carnage so repetitive it starts to be tiresome, along with great big gratuitous helpings of nudity,...

Filmmaker Zack Snyder made a name for himself with hit movies such as 300 and Man of Steel. Snyder’s most recent offering is the two-part space opera Rebel Moon, which was heavily inspired and originally started off as a pitch for a Star Wars movie, which never materialized and eventually landed at Netflix.
A director’s cut of Zack Snyder’s Rebel Moon was released on Netflix.
Despite being critically panned, Rebel Moon did one thing right by cleverly avoiding a trope that has become seriously overused in Star Wars. In an interview, Snyder spoke about the trend that has been repeated over and over again, explaining his reasoning behind altering it. Here is what Snyder had to say about Star Wars‘ most nonsensical and overused trope.

Acclaimed director Zack Snyder, known worldwide for visually stunning blockbusters like “300” and “Man of Steel,” has intimated he may be stepping back from the visual effects-heavy style that has defined his lauded career.
In a recent interview with The Hollywood Reporter, Snyder opened up about feeling “tapped out on the visual effects world” following the release of director’s cuts for the two parts of his recent Netflix epic, “Rebel Moon.” While acknowledging his passion for cutting-edge technology, the filmmaker added “I would love to do something a little bit more organic.”
Snyder’s move comes as a surprise given his illustrious filmography includes some of the most visually spectacular works in recent decades. Movies like 2009’s “Watchmen” and last year’s “Army of the Dead” relied on innovative visuals to craft sprawling, hyper-stylized worlds. His films have grossed over $2 billion globally and developed a dedicated cult following.

For the last two decades, one Zack Snyder film after another, from “300” to “Army of the Dead,” reveled in the use of visual effects to expand the limits of the worlds the filmmaker aimed to create. Unfortunately, it seems his most recent outings, “Rebel Moon: Part One — Director’s Cut” and “Rebel Moon: Part Two — Director’s Cut,” may have finally exhausted his interest in the technology. Speaking in a wide-ranging interview with The Hollywood Reporter in regards to these films and other upcoming projects, Snyder shared his desire to scale-back his style.
“I’m a little tapped out on the visual effects world right now,” he said. “I love it, don’t get me wrong. I’m a huge fan, but I would love to do something a little bit more organic.”

Zack Snyder’s Rebel Moon franchise is getting a hefty second helping with the director’s cuts of both films making their way to Netflix. Not only are these cuts extended versions of the film but also feature a lot more violence and intimacy than the original versions of the film.

Among the many things that he revealed about the film, Snyder also talked about how his films show intimate and violent scenes, and how the lack of them in big-budget cinema might be not as desired as studios believe.

Zack Snyder's Rebel Moon movies were meant to kickstart a new sci-fi franchise for Netflix. Unfortunately, reviews from fans and critics alike were largely negative, and it's hard to imagine the streamer now committing to the filmmaker's ambitious (and expensive) plans.
Snyder was, however, given the green light to deliver director's cuts of both Part One: A Child of Fire and Part Two: The Scargiver, now renamed Chalice of Blood and Curse of Forgiveness.
Fans have questioned the need for those, particularly as the whole point of Snyder's deal with Netflix was that he'd be given the creative freedom Warner Bros. took from him in the Dceu. These extended versions clock in at well over three hours each and make some fundamental changes to the stories, but are they better movies?
As we first explained on SFFGazette.com, according to Rotten Tomatoes, yes.

Filmmaker Zack Snyder has some amazing visuals to boast of in his filmography even if the films themselves have been divisive. Be it Superman’s flight in Man of Steel or the incredible opening montage in Watchmen, the man knows how to create jaw-dropping imagery that turns superheroes into gods.
While there are many to boast of, Snyder recently revealed what his favorite scene to shoot in the latest Rebel Moon films was. The filmmaker released an R-rated director’s cut for both chapters of the space opera on Netflix and revealed that he was excited for fans to watch the R-rated version of his favorite scene.

Netflix invites you further into the mythology and madness of Zack Snyder’s epic sci-fi saga in the viciously sexier, bloodier world of Rebel Moon with brand new Director’s Cuts Chapter One: Chalice of Blood and Chapter Two: Curse of Forgiveness on August 2.
Of particular note, the Rebel Moon Director’s Cuts will be rated “R,” packed with the bloody violence that wasn’t found in the PG-13 versions of the two movies now on Netflix. We’ve been promised “brutal bloody violence and gore, sexual content, graphic nudity and language.”
Watch the official (and bloody-as-hell) Red Band trailer for the Director’s Cuts below.
“In Snyder’s director’s cut, a peaceful settlement on a moon in the furthest reaches of the universe finds itself threatened by the armies of the tyrannical Regent Balisarius, and Kora, a mysterious stranger living among the villagers, becomes their best hope for survival.

Nearly a quarter of a century ago, Ridley Scott’s “Gladiator” took the swords-and-sandals action of previous genre-definers “Spartacus” and “Clash of the Titans” and gave it new life, paving the way for further success in Zach Snyder’s 2007 outing “300” and that forgettable 2016 remake of “Ben-Hur.” It’s a tricky world to adapt, extending beyond the over-the-top energy of brutal combat and chariot races and into the realms of a bygone era’s political, interpersonal, and economics.

Anyone familiar with Zack Snyder’s films recognizes his distinctive and often polarizing approach to filmmaking. Snyder is celebrated as a visionary by some and criticized as a disappointment by others, but he never fails to evoke strong reactions. While he has delivered some of the most iconic comic book adaptations, he has also faced criticism for several shortcomings.
Snyder’s style is characterized by its dark and gritty tone, occasionally blended with campiness and exaggerated elements—an unusual combination that can be challenging to balance (as evidenced by Schumacher’s Batman films). His works provoke both praise and scrutiny, yet one consistent trait is his affinity for eccentricity.
And superheroes are central to his work. Whether they’re adaptations of comic books or not, all of his films fall within this genre. In a recent interview featured on Letterboxd, Snyder shared his thoughts and perspectives on superheroes as a whole.

Everyone who’s seen even one Zack Snyder movie knows that the filmmaker has a very specific and, in many ways, unique approach to his movies. Snyder is a visionary for some and a failure for others, but he doesn’t leave you indifferent, that is certain. He has made some of the most iconic comic book movies of all time, but he also made several horrible failures.
Snyder’s approach is specific. It is dark and gritty, but at the same time, it can be both campy and over the top, which is something that is not that easy to do since dark and gritty are rarely compatible with campy (just remember how Schumacher failed with Batman). Some of his works are lauded, some are criticized, but we can definitely confirm that he likes one thing – eccentricism!

Zack Snyder took on a major challenge when Warner Bros. approached him to make Alan Moore and Dave Gibbon’s classic comic Watchmen into a film. Fresh off IndieWire’s list of the 100 greatest Westerns, Sergio Leone’s classic Spaghetti Western “A Fistful of Dollars” is getting a remake.
The original 1964 feature, which starred Clint Eastwood as a nameless gunfighter, began a film trilogy that included “For a Few Dollars More” and “The Good the Bad and the Ugly.” Now, “A Fistful of Dollars” is going to be reimagined by the producers behind “The Departed,” “300,” and “The Talented Mr. Ripley.”
Euro Gang Entertainment, founded by Gianni Nunnari and Simon Horsman, will produce the “A Fistful of Dollars” remake, along with Italian producer Enzo Sisti of Fpc and Rome-based Jolly Film, which produced the original movie. The film is expected to be an English-language remake, but no details have been made public yet.
Euro Gang and Sisti recently collaborated on Roland Emmerich’s upcoming Peacock gladiator series “Those About to Die” starring Anthony Hopkins.

Exclusive: Saddle up! One of the great westerns is getting a remake.
Sergio Leone and Clint Eastwood classic A Fistful Of Dollars is set for a movie remake from Euro Gang Entertainment, the company founded by Hollywood vet Gianni Nunnari (300) and Simon Horsman (Magazine Dreams), alongside Italian production vet Enzo Sisti (Ripley) of Fpc, and Rome-based Jolly Film, which produced the original movie.
Hit western A Fistful of Dollars is the story of a wandering gunfighter with no name who plays two rival families against each other in a town torn apart by greed, pride, and revenge.
The film, released in the mid ’60s, helped launch the “spaghetti western” genre and Eastwood’s career (and others including that of composer Ennio Morricone). Its huge success spawned two more films in an iconic trilogy also comprising For a Few Dollars More and The Good the Bad and the Ugly, all starring Eastwood.

For someone like Tite Kubo, inspiration has always been omnipresent. Bleach takes the best and worst of the world, combining them into one epic masterpiece. From rock music to multiple films and television shows, the impact can be both sublime and active at the same time. One can absorb ideas without even realizing, that is the beauty of art.

After helming comic book adaptations like 300 and Watchmen (both of which had previously been described as "impossible" to put on screen), Zack Snyder seemed a perfect fit to helm 2013's Superman reboot, Man of Steel.
The DC movie has a lot of fans, but also some highly divisive elements. The destruction of Metropolis, Superman's inability to save innocents, and the hero's decision to kill General Zod are chief among them. However, the death of Jonathan Kent is also a major sticking point.
In the movie, Clark Kent allows his adoptive father to die - at his behest - to stop the world from finding out he's Superman. The scene didn't have the impact Snyder expected, with many arguing that the Kryptonian could have quite easily rescued Jonathan.

Though the film divided audiences and critics, its fortunes changed tremendously when it was picked up to stream on Netflix, which then saw part 2 of the film titled The Scargiver releasing in April 2024, a week after its theatrical run.

When Zack Snyder’s Sucker Punch premiered in 2011, it was met with a polarizing reception. Critics and audiences were off-put by its unique style, ambitious narrative structure, and the way it blended genres. As someone who initially viewed the film through a less mature lens, I found myself unimpressed by its convoluted plot and perceived lack of substance. Hell, I even watched it twice upon release to make sure I wasn’t missing anything. As time went on, I had moved on from the stale taste it bestowed upon me. So much so that I had even skipped any future Snyder offerings, yes, this includes his Dceu output. Maybe I’ll get to those one day. Who knows? However, one thing I do know is for certain: Zack Snyder loves himself a director’s cut of his films. Recently, he has expressed his determination to give his first original film the ol’ Snyder Cut treatment,...

We first learned of plans for a two-part animated adaptation of Alan Moore and Dave Gibbons' Watchmen during last year's San Diego Comic-Con.
As of now, Warner Bros. Animation hasn't announced a cast or release date. However, a teaser trailer was recently released which suggests the CG-animated project will stick closely to the critically acclaimed graphic novel it's based on.
Zack Snyder did that with his live-action version of Watchmen in 2008, though he controversially changed the story's ending to replace the squid with a bomb. This version looks like it will adhere even closer to the source material.
Today, an MPAA Film Ratings listing has confirmed that Watchmen: Chapter I will be "Rated R for violent content and some graphic nudity."

Gerard Butler is the Picasso of trash cinema. Across a career spanning three decades, he's starred in exemplar schlockfests like "Dracula 2000" (the movie where we learn that Dracula and Judas Iscariot (!) are one and the same) and "Lara Croft: Tomb Raider -- The Cradle of Life" (a film where Angelina Jolie punches a shark in the nose before hitching a ride on its dorsal fin), along with "Law Abiding Citizen," "Den of Thieves," "Plane," the "Fallen" movies, and many more like them. When he isn't playing diabolical baddies or rugged mavericks, he can often be found portraying bellow-y bearded bruisers, be they Beowulf in 2005's "Beowulf & Grendel" or, most famously, King Leonidas in "300."

Zack Snyder has plans to make a film on one of the greatest heroes in American history, George Washington. While other presidents like Abraham Lincoln, Richard Nixon, and even George W. Bush were brought to the screen, the Founding Father’s story is yet to be told.

If the movie gets made, it would be one of the most stylized depictions of an American president in films. Ever since Snyder made this desire public, some people opposed the idea, sharing that Washington’s story was more of a drama rather than an action-packed war movie.

Cinema is an art. The very line has long defined the ethos of Hollywood and time has proved that those with a clear yet distinct artistic vision have reigned supreme at the box office for bringing a welcome change for the audiences. In this regard, Zack Snyder stacks up pretty high for his unique creative decisions that have, at times, rode high up in fame, whereas on other occasions, found themselves lashed upon by critics.

Regardless of fame and failure, the director, undeniably, has pushed forward major changes for the advancement of the industry as a whole. A stark example of it is his 2006 directorial, 300. The historical fiction easily sticks out among its counterpart releases from the same year. However, it alone managed to bring forth an idea to fruition which, at that time, appeared to...

Still, Snyder is yet to create a franchise of the scale of Star Wars, even though fans will outline the similarities between the two epic space operas. As it turns out, those similarities are not unfounded, and Rebel Moon was initially a Star Wars film.
While it may be a feat of immense pride to be at the helm of a movie from the universe, Snyder’s wife and production partner Deborah Snyder revealed last year how she was actually happy Rebel Moon did not become a Star Wars project.

Attendees at Netflix’s presentation for the Annecy Animation Festival got exclusive glimpses at footage from Wallace & Gromit: Vengeance Most Fowl and Zack Snyder’s Twilight of the Gods, among other forthcoming animated projects heading to the streamer.
Snyder and producing partner Deborah Snyder took the stage to share sequences from their animated series that is inspired by Norse mythology and hits Netflix on Sept. 19. This included footage of a dragon battle that involved copious amounts of blood.
“[It’s] shocking for me that the main characters form a team,” Zack Snyder quipped about Twilight of the Gods, given the similar themes from his previous work that includes 300, Watchmen and Justice League. He jokingly added, “I can’t wait to do a single character.”
Snyder, who previously directed the animated feature Legend of the Guardians: The Owls of Ga’Hoole, explained that his process for animation doesn’t differ greatly from how he typically works.
