In the magnetic universe of Hollywood, directors are obsessed with providing the audience with a real-time experience on screen. From different universes to blood-feeding creatures, filmmakers have used CG to create everything and anything. However, for some directors, the narrative is totally different; for them, practicality is above everything else.
In this list, Christopher Nolan’s Oppenheimer and Denis Villeneuve’s Dune 2 stand the tallest. Considering the box office success of these films, the directors clearly had a vision when they attempted to create stunning sets without using green screens.

Universal bookended its presentation at the 2024 edition of CineEurope with the Wicked Witch of the West and the King of Pop.
Returning to the trade show in Barcelona buoyed by confidence after claiming 2023’s studio crown with a box office of almost $5 billion globally, the number one animation in “The Super Mario Bros. Movie” and the best picture Oscar for “Oppenheimer,” the company teased its busy slate of upcoming titles with plenty of footage and behind-the-scenes material.
Much of the presentation was devoted to “Wicked,” the highly-anticipated adaptation of the hit stage musical that is eyeing to become one of the cultural events of this Christmas period when it launches at the end of November. The film, directed by Jon M. Chu and starring Cynthia Erivo and Ariana Grande, is getting a major global push by the studio, which brought various original costumes from the production to showcase to the exhibitors gathered in Barcelona.

At last. A weekend to sincerely cheer.
“Inside Out 2” (Disney) would have been terrific at a $100 million opening weekend, but it soared to an estimated $155 million. Meantime, “Bad Boys: Ride or Die” (Sony), would have been thought successful with a 50 percent drop in its second weekend. Instead, it is off 42 percent with $33 million after an opening weekend of $56.5 million.
In what was set up to be a do-or-die critical two-weekend period, “Bad Boys: Ride or Die” (Sony) and “Inside Out 2” (Disney) exceeded expectations — and more importantly, at the same time. It’s hard to overestimate how much dread there was ahead of these two releases. Had either or both fell short of reasonable expectations, as did to many recent high-end releases before them, the despair would have reached new lows.
Instead, not only did both franchise titles come through, they also exceeded best hopes. That happened last nearly a year ago,...

For years, Josh Hartnett was trapped in the dreamboat status of Hollywood. He tried to break free of it by taking on darker roles in films like “The Faculty” and “Black Hawk Down,” but his chiseled features made it hard for audiences to see past his good looks. In a recent interview with Variety, Hartnett addressed this challenge, saying his role in Michael Bay’s “Pearl Harbor” was the straw that finally broke the camel’s back.
“I was still trying to figure out who I was,” Hartnett said. “Something of that magnitude that everybody knew about and sort of thought of me as the character, had an effect on me that I kicked back against. It was always something that I had to contend with at that age, and I was still trying to figure out what I meant to myself and to people around me.”

Kicking off his career with The Hunger Games franchise, Jack Quaid has worked in projects like Oppenheimer, Scream franchise, and several voiceover works throughout the years. However, he might be more renowned for his portrayal of Hughie Campbell in Eric Kripke’s The Boys. Together with Karl Urban’s Billy Butcher, he is taking down Vought and the corrupted Supes while also dating Starlight.

There’s no doubt that Quaid’s portrayal in the series is loved by the fans. But it turns out he is dating his co-star Claudia Doumit, who also portrays the role of Victoria Neuman in Kripke’s R-rated show in real life. Though this pair is capturing the hearts of the people, some fans are recently learning that the couple is romantically involved, giving their on-screen chemistry a boost.

The Big Picture Emily Blunt appears to be in discussions to join Steven Spielberg’s exciting new UFO movie, currently described as a two-hander. This means Blunt will take on one of the two lead roles in the film. Given Spielberg’s reputation in Hollywood and Blunt’s acting prowess, this collaboration promises to be something special. Fresh off her Oscar nomination for her performance in Christopher Nolan’s critically acclaimed Oppenheimer, where she starred alongside Cillian Murphy, Blunt is now setting her sights on Spielberg’s project. A recent report from Deadline notes that she’s in early talks for this role. The story for...

It’s been a tough time for the movie business.
The 2023 actors and writers strikes brought production to a standstill, leaving studios with fewer films to release in theaters. That’s bad news for cinemas, which are struggling to dig out from the financial hole left by Covid shutdowns and laboring to get audiences to visit the multiplexes at the numbers they were before the pandemic. Add to that a series of commercial disappointments, such as “Furiosa: A Mad Max Saga,” “The Fall Guy” and “If,” and the industry is off to a very rough start to the summer movie season, a time of year when the box office is supposed to be booming.
Michael O’Leary, the president of the National Association of Theater Owners, knows that the cinema operators he represents through his trade group have been through a lot. But he also believes that things are turning around,...

Mai 2026 in die Kinos bringen will.
Über die Handlung des als „Eventfilm“ beschriebenen Projekts ist ebenso wenig bekannt wie über Emily Blunts Rolle darin.

Emily Blunt’s stars are clearly aligning, as evidenced by her recent stellar performance in Oppenheimer, which has left her enjoying her first Oscar nomination. But could her next artistic venture be just as enthralling? Yes, indeed!
With Deadline’s recent reports, excitement grows as it is revealed that Blunt may appear in another cinematic gem—a forthcoming UFO project helmed by none other than the legendary Steven Spielberg for Universal Pictures. This film, envisioned by Spielberg, written by the talented David Koepp of Jurassic Park fame and produced by Kristie Macosko Krieger, is shaping up to be a must-see “two-hander” spectacle.

Apple TV+ has debuted the first official trailer for Doug Liman's The Instigators, an upcoming heist thriller starring Academy Award-winners and Boston natives Matt Damon (Good Will Hunting; The Martian; The Departed) and Casey Affleck (Manchester by the Sea; Oppenheimer; The Assassination of Jesse James by the Coward Robert Ford) in the lead roles as two thieves who, after a botched robbery, are forced to go on the run with their therapist (Academy Award-nominee Hong Chau).
The film's synopsis reads, "Rory (Damon) and Cobby (Affleck) are reluctant partners: a desperate father and an ex-con thrown together to pull off a robbery of the ill-gained earnings of a corrupt politician. But when the heist goes wrong, the two find themselves engulfed in a whirlwind of chaos, pursued not only by police, but also backwards bureaucrats and vengeful crime bosses. So, here's what you should see in the theaters in August: Cuckoo, Alien: Romulus, The Crow, and Trap. But out of all these horror movies, Trap will likely be on the first ones you see, because Warner Bros. changed the date. Instead of releasing on August 9, the new M. Night Shyamalan film will now be released on August 2.
Warner Bros. decision to move Trap up is somewhat perplexing as the film will now be in direct competition with Neon's horror film Cuckoo, whereas before it would have been up against It Ends with Us and Borderlands, neither of which is another horror movie.
Trap comes from Academy Award-nominated film director M. Night Shyamalan. He's best known for writing and directing the box office hit The Sixth Sense. In fact, this movie got him nominated for two Academy Awards. He was also behind the films Split, Glass, Old and Knock at the Cabin.

Emily Blunt is in early talks to star in Steven Spielberg’s next film.
The movie, like all of Spielberg’s productions, is shrouded in secrecy, but it is an “event film,” so think special effects and vast scope. It’s based on a story that Spielberg conceived and boasts a screenplay from David Koepp, who wrote “Jurassic Park,” “War of the Worlds” and “Indiana Jones and the Kingdom of the Crystal Skull.” Universal Pictures will release the film wide on Friday, May 15, 2026.
Blunt is coming off an Oscar-nominated turn as the alcoholic wife of J. Robert Oppenheimer in Christopher Nolan’s blockbuster “Oppenheimer,” as well as “The Fall Guy,” an action-comedy that was well-received by critics, but failed to ignite at the box office. She’s no stranger to massive productions, having previously starred in the likes of “Edge of Tomorrow” (going toe-to-toe with Tom Cruise) and “Into the Woods.

Oppenheimer’s Emily Blunt is reportedly in talks to play one of the leads in Steven Spielberg’s next film, due out in 2026.
Having co-starred in Christopher Nolan’s Oppenheimer last year, Emily Blunt could be about to work with another household name director. According to a new report, she’s in ‘early talks’ to play one of the leads in Steven Spielberg’s currently untitled 2026 film.
According to Deadline, the secretive film will have two lead characters, one of which would most likely be Blunt if the deal’s made.
As we heard last month, Universal and Amblin have set the release date for Spielberg’s mystery film: the 15th May 2026. That’s a similar summer slot to Spielberg’s biggest, most accessible movies, including Jaws (June 1975), E.T: The Extra Terrestrial (June 1982), Jurassic Park (June 1993) and Indiana Jones And The Kingdom Of The Crystal Skull (May 2008). Exclusive: After earning an Oscar nomination for her work in Christopher Nolan’s Oppenheimer, Emily Blunt may have found her next job with a director who inspired not only Nolan but a generation of filmmakers. While a deal has not closed, sources tell Deadline that Blunt is in early talks to star in Steven Spielberg’s next film at Universal and Amblin, marking the first time the A-lister has worked with the iconic director.
The project is described as a two-hander, so Blunt would be playing one of the two leads in the project. Based on a story by Spielberg, the film has longtime Spielberg collaborator David Koepp penning the script, with Kristie Macosko Krieger producing.
Plot details have been kept under lock and key. Universal has dated the film for May 15, 2026, landing it in the summer tentpole zone Spielberg practically created with films like Jaws and Raiders of the Lost Ark.

Apple TV+ has released the trailer for “The Instigators,” Doug Liman’s new Boston-set action comedy starring Matt Damon and Casey Affleck.
The film follows Rory (Damon), a down on his luck dad who begrudgingly teams up with ex-con Cobby (Affleck) to steal funds from a crooked politician. But when everything goes wrong, the duo must evade capture not only from the police but also from corrupt bureaucrats and underground crime lords. While on the lam, they manage to convince Rory’s therapist (Hong Chau) to help with their getaway.
The film also stars Jack Harlow, Alfred Molina, Ron Perlman, Ving Rhames, Paul Walter Hauser, Michael Stulbarg and Don Dipetta.
“The Instigators” is the latest in a long line of films starring both Damon and Affleck. Most recently, they both starred in Christopher Nolan’s best picture winner “Oppenheimer,” and they also co-starred together in Nolan’s “Interstellar.” They also...

Before the 2024 Oscars ceremony took place, three of the four eventual acting winners had already filmed TV performances that now put them in contention for the upcoming Emmys. If Emma Stone, Da’Vine Joy Randolph, and Robert Downey Jr. all end up achieving TV academy recognition this year, they will set a record as the first set of three concurrent acting Oscar recipients to appear on the same year’s Emmy ballot.
Randolph, who scored an Oscar in March for her supporting turn in “The Holdovers,” is seeking her first career Emmy notice for reprising her comedic guest role of Detective Donna Williams during the third season of Hulu’s “Only Murders in the Building.” According to Gold Derby’s odds, she comfortably ranks as her show’s strongest guest acting candidate, even outpacing first season nominee Jane Lynch.

Fans of the 2002 film 28 Days Later and its follow-up 28 Weeks Later have been waiting seventeen years for another entry in the franchise, hoping we’d someday see a movie titled 28 Months Later. We’re not getting that one, but 28 Days Later director Danny Boyle and screenwriter Alex Garland are currently working on reviving the franchise, and they’re going to make this revival worth the wait. Not only are we getting a new movie called 28 Years Later, but we’re actually getting a whole trilogy of sequels! Sony has reported that the film is set for a June 20th, 2025 release date. The film began shooting in late May around the Northeast of England. But what else do we know about this 28 Years Later sequel trilogy.

In the war on streaming, Will Smith is doing his part to get butts back in theater seats.
The Academy Award-winner surprised fans at a recent screening of his new movie, Bad Boys: Ride or Die, the fourth installment in the buddy cop franchise. He snuck out of the theater at Cinemark Baldwin Hills Crenshaw after watching the movie with the public.
“Surprise,” wrote a fan with a now-viral TikTok video of the moment. “When you walk out of Bad Boys movie and Will Smith walks out with you after having watched the movie with you!! Only at Cinemark!”
The clip starts with a group of unsuspecting moviegoers exiting the theater as Smith walks out with them. “Hey, I’m glad y’all enjoyed that. That was a good movie,” he said as excited yells immediately broke out.
Fans swarmed Smith, who seemed more than happy to hug his admirers...

The first full weekend of June brought a modicum of hope to the summer box office, as Will Smith and Martin Lawrence reunited for the fourth installment of their popular “Bad Boys” action-comedy franchise. Read on for the weekend box office report.
“Bad Boys: Ride or Die” had been planned since 2020’s “Bad Boys for Life” became the highest-grossing blockbuster that year, partially due to Covid shutting down theaters a few weeks after its release. Opening in 3,885 theaters, including IMAX and other premium screens, “Ride or Die” received mixed reviews with 64% on Rotten Tomatoes, although it was expected to be fairly review-proof with the popularity of its two stars. It ended up making $5.88 million in Thursday previews beginning at 3pm, and $21.6 million on Friday, including those previews.
Sony is estimating it to make $56 million in North America its opening weekend, which is less than the previous movie’s $62.5 million holiday opening,...

Everyone knows "The Simpsons" has basically predicted every major cultural moment in recent history. From Disney's 2021 acquisition of Fox to Donald Trump's presidency, the long-running show has managed to prove time and again that it has its finger on the pulse of pop culture — well, at least it used to. But the show is also responsible for directly contributing to other pop culture moments, such as when Merriam-Webster added the word "Cromulent" — first used in the 1996 episode "Lisa the Iconoclast" — to the dictionary.
Another '90s episode featured the origin of a minor "Simpsons" joke that would end up enduring for decades, although in a much less conspicuous way. "Grampa vs. Sexual Inadequacy" is the tenth episode of the show's sixth season, and while it didn't quite make /Film's list of the 25 best "Simpsons" episodes, frankly every golden age episode could have been on that list, and this one is no different.

In May 2024, Netflix CEO Ted Sarandos made a strange claim to The New York Times. Discussing "Barbenheimer," Sarandos insisted that the success of "Barbie" and "Oppenheimer" wasn't related to the fact that both were released in theaters and made an event out of physically going to the movies. "Both of those movies would be great for Netflix. They definitely would have enjoyed just as big an audience on Netflix," he said. That suggestion seems ... unlikely. But Sarandos wasn't done. "There's no reason to believe that the movie itself is better in any size of screen for all people," he said. "My son's an editor. He is 28 years old, and he watched 'Lawrence of Arabia' on his phone."
Leaving aside what a travesty that example is, Sarandos is simply incorrect. Many movies are, indeed, better when they're bigger, because the theatrical experience is beneficial for two main reasons. First,...

Christopher Nolan is one of the definitive filmmakers of this generation. The Oscar-winning director recently made the biopic Oppenheimer, which won big at the Academy Awards this year. The director is known for his blockbuster films, which are as cerebral as they are thrilling and have garnered a loyal worldwide fanbase.
Nolan has also been a vocal supporter of other films. While he has professed his love for Stanley Kubrick, he has also appreciated films that are not considered high art such as the Fast and the Furious franchise. However, one film that reportedly blew his mind was Emma Stone’s 2016 musical La La Land, for which she won her first Academy Award.

While numerous leading women representing scientists, technicians, engineers and mathematicians (Stem) have graced the screen throughout cinematic history, those pale in comparison to their male counterparts. Netflix’s “3 Body Problem” challenged this gender disparity and came out on top, dominating the charts for weeks.
According to Luminate, “3 Body Problem” has more than 3 billion minutes watched since its March release and spent seven weeks in Netflix’s Global Top 10. While the show features successful women in Stem, it’s worth noting Liu Cixin’s book, “The Three-Body Problem,” did not originally include strong female scientists like Jin Cheng (Jess Hong) and Auggie Salazar (Eiza González). The book centers on a male protagonist, Wang Miao.
Thankfully, the TV show adaptation chose to diversify its storyline by featuring female characters in Stem roles, moving away from a predominantly male-centric narrative. In the series, the Oxford Five crew replaced Miao’s character,...

1984 was a downright magical year at the movies. The number of titles released in that fateful year that have become classics is downright staggering. Wes Craven's influential horror classic "A Nightmare on Elm Street," Kevin Bacon's breakout hit "Footloose," James Cameron's masterwork "The Terminator," Steven Spielberg's second Indiana Jones adventure "Temple of Doom," and Eddie Murphy's ridiculously huge blockbuster "Beverly Hills Cop." That's truly just scratching the surface. But 40 years ago in the summer of '84, two all-time cinematic classics premiered on the very same weekend.

By order of the Netflix executives: There have been trickles of information about a Peaky Blinders movie ever since the BBC series came to a dramatic end after eight years and six seasons in 2022. Now, the news is official. The show that launched a thousand undercuts and laid the foundations for Cillian Murphy’s Oppenheimer Oscar win is easily one of the most popular dramas of the past decade, and it’s no surprise the entertainment world went crazy after Nancy broke the story Tuesday that a Peaky feature film is indeed coming. Let’s get the worst of it out of the way: We estimate, at best, a $700 million total domestic gross for June, or 30 percent down from last year. We’ll close the month at least 25 percent below the first half of 2023. There’s no mystery as to why: fewer high-impact releases, with last year’s strikes still taking their toll.
June also has three potential breakouts with “Bad Boys: Ride or Die” (Sony) Friday, “Inside Out 2” (Disney) June 14, and “A Quiet Place: Day One” (Paramount) June 28. They also have high expectations which, if met, would go some way to restoring confidence. Fall short and the argument of “Well, this movie was never meant to be a blockbuster” will have run its course.
Everyone knew that 2024 would not be a great year. It was never going to equal the $9.1 billion of 2023, but $8.5 billion was the hope and $8 billion was the consensus.

Robert Downey Jr. is one of the biggest stars in Hollywood working today. His cinematic glory was further complemented as the actor came fresh out of the 2024 Academy Awards claiming his first Oscars after being nominated three times. Of course, his recent performance in Christopher Nolan’s Oppenheimer is one of the best of his career but the credit to the actor will forever shine with golden words as he revolutionized the industry with his Iron Man role.

Lionsgate has landed domestic distribution rights to “Small Things Like These,” the first film in which Cillian Murphy appears since he won his Oscar for “Oppenheimer.”
Murphy stars in and produced “Small Things Like These,” which made its world premiere at this year’s Berlin Film Festival as the opening night film in competition. The film earned strong reviews, with IndieWire saying Murphy gives another “staggering performance” and that it is “a surprisingly understated film, dour and difficult to watch in places, and firmly rooted in Irish culture and history.” It even won co-star Emily Watson the Silver Bear for her performance.
Lionsgate will partner with Roadside Attractions to release “Small Things Like These” in North America, and Lionsgate also acquired rights in the UK and Ireland. No release date has been set.

Cillian Murphy is to return to 'Peaky Blinders' for a Netflix movie. The 48-year-old actor will reprise his role as Birmingham gang leader Tommy Shelby in the much-discussed film that has now been greenlit by the streaming giant.Production is set to begin later this year with Tom Harper – who oversaw episodes in the first season of the BBC TV show that aired between 2013 and 2022 – directing from a script by series creator Stephen Knight.Plot details and additional casting information have not been revealed although Knight has previously said that the film will take place during World War II.In the wake of the movie announcement, Cillian told Deadline: "It seems like Tommy Shelby wasn't finished with me... It is very gratifying to be recollaborating with Steven Knight and Tom Harper on the film version of 'Peaky Blinders'. This is one for the fans."Harper said: "When I first directed 'Peaky Blinders' over 10 years ago,...

Peaky Blinders caught the imagination by swerving the unexpected. Creator Steven Knight put the whole thing on a tilt from the start by not setting his gangster drama in London, but in (then) unfashionable Birmingham. He made family leader Tommy Shelby not the eldest but the middle brother. He mad Helen McCrory’s indelible Polly Gray not Tommy’s mother but his aunt. His working class characters weren’t to be pitied, but feared and respected… Nothing, from the contemporary rock music to the interweaving of Romany culture, was quite what period audiences had come to expect.
Knight’s slanted take on historical drama was exemplified at the climax of the Peaky Blinders series one finale, directed by Tom Harper. Now, over a decade later, Harper is coming back to direct the long-discussed Peaky Blinders movie, which starts filming in September 2024 in the West Midlands, after being officially commissioned by...

Let’s face it, Quentin Tarantino’s truth bombs have always been intricate and delightful as the legendary director hardly refrains himself from making bold comments on anything related to movies. About 8 years ago, the director gave an eye-opening statement on movie ticket prices and it appears to be relevant even today.

Tarantino has a long and glorious career to his credit. Since his directorial debut with Reservoir Dogs in 1992, the director has given several acclaimed titles to global audiences. His unapologetic movies which often wrapped with the raw tale of the narratives on screen, elevated his legacy but in this process, Tarantino’s observation and experience in filmmaking gave him the insight to understand the ups and downs of the movie business.

While filmmaking duo Michael Powell and Emeric Pressburger — aka The Archers — may be best known for their extravagant color films like “The Life and Death of Colonel Blimp,” “A Matter of Life and Death,” “Black Narcissus,” and “The Red Shoes,” their underseen black-and-white, post-wwii potboiler “The Small Back Room” may be their most daring.
Following a wartime weapons expert whose experiences studying and disarming bombs have led to injuries and a nasty drinking habit, the film came at a time when audiences were ready to look past the fighting, so it didn’t perform well at the box office. Now, thanks to Rialto Pictures, the film is set to hit theaters once again on June 28 with a 4K restoration. Watch the new trailer, an IndieWire exclusive, below.

The Fall Guy Box Office (Worldwide) Update(Photo Credit –IMDb)
The Fall Guy, starring Ryan Gosling and Emily Blunt, has reached a significant milestone at the global box office. It was supposed to kick off the summer box office, but it failed to achieve that. The movie has already arrived on the Ott platforms; however, word of mouth for the film is strong and is moving ahead at a decent pace. Keep scrolling for more.
About the film-
Ryan Gosling plays the role of a stuntman, and like everyone in the stunt community, he gets blown up, shot, crashed, thrown through windows, and dropped from the highest of heights, all for our entertainment. And now, fresh off an almost career-ending accident, this working-class hero has to track down a missing movie star, solve a conspiracy, and try to win back the love of his life while still doing his day job.

For the first time ever, a film streaming on Netflix (free for subscribers) and available on VOD ($5.99 for 48 hours) is #1 on both charts.
Toho’s late-2023 sleeper success and eventual Oscar Visual Effects winner, “Godzilla Minus One” achieved that feat with a totally unexpected and previously unannounced release on Saturday.
The film, released in early December to an unexpected U.S./Canada gross of $56 million, normally would have hit PVOD for rental for $19.99 by late January, been reduced to $5.99 after a few weeks, then found a streaming home. But because of vaguely defined agreements with Legendary Entertainment, Toho’s partner in making Warner Bros.’ costlier Godzilla films, the March opening of “Godzilla x Kong: The New Empire” led to the early-February termination of theatrical dates for “Minus One.” That came despite the Toho film still doing business (and ahead of the Oscars). Then, Warner’s “Godzilla x Kong” could play without “Minus One” as competition.

In a not-so-surprising twist, Sony's 'The Garfield Movie' overtook Warner Bros.' Mad Max prequel 'Furiosa: A Mad Max Saga' to claim the top spot at the domestic box office this weekend. After an underwhelming Memorial Day weekend, the lazy, lasagna-loving cat pulled in $14 million from 4,108 theaters for a solid $51.5 million total after two weeks, bringing its worldwide gross to $152 million. Not a bad deal considering the film's $60 million price tag.
Meanwhile, 'Furiosa' fell to third place with $10.7 million, bringing the films domestic haul to a disappointing $49.6 million. Warner Bros.' had high hopes for George Miller’s action epic, with stars Anya Taylor-Joy and Chris Hemsworth headlining, and it has fared slightly better overseas with $64.7 million for a $114 million worldwide total. But like its predecessor, 2015's 'Mad Max: Fury Road,' its path to profitability looks increasingly rocky with a budget of $168 million. Wedged between 'Garfield' and 'Furiosa' was John Krasinski's family film flick 'IF.' The Paramount release collected $10.8 million in its third week for an $80.4 million domestic tally.
Notable new releases over the weekend include 'Haikyu!! The Dumpster Battle,' the big screen anime adaptation of the popular manga with $3.5 million, and IFC Films’ slasher flick 'In a Violent Nature,' which brought in $2.1 million.
Overall, it was another disappointing weekend at the movies. With no major new releases, the total box office was down a sobering 65% compared to the same weekend last year. After an encouraging post-pandemic season in 2023—fueled by the blockbuster duo of 'Barbie' and 'Oppenheimer'—it’s a grim start to the summer movie season, with year-to-date revenues trailing 2023 by 24% so far. Hollywood is hoping the worst is behind it, though, as June and July have some (hopefully) guaranteed hits with Pixar’s 'Inside Out 2,' Illumination’s 'Despicable Me 4,' and the year's only Marvel movie, 'Deadpool & Wolverine.'

2023 was a dream year for Cillian Murphy as the actor bagged every award of the season, including the coveted Oscar for his unforgettable performance in Christopher Nolan’s Oppenheimer. While the film is definitely a landmark in his career, the actor also gained a lot of fame for his role as the dangerous gang leader in the popular British drama Peaky Blinders.

Jodie Foster and Robert Downey Jr. have a long history. Their careers have intersected over time, starting when Foster directed Downey in her 1995 Thanksgiving comedy “Home for the Holidays,” where he played the sweet-natured but rebellious black sheep of the family. More recently, both were nominated in supporting categories at this year’s Oscars — Foster was nominated for her role as an encouraging swim coach in “Nyad,” and Downey won for playing a villainous government official in “Oppenheimer” — and played key roles in HBO limited series. Foster was a hard-bitten cop in “True Detective: Night Country,” writer-director Issa López’s reimagining of the crime franchise that centered on Alaska Native communities. Downey tackled four roles — a CIA agent, a university professor, a congressman and an indie filmmaker, each representing a facet of the American power structure — in Korean director Park Chan-wook’s adaptation of the post-Vietnam War novel “The Sympathizer.

Robert Downey Jr.’s portrayal of Iron Man will go down in history as one of the greatest superhero performances of all time. His character’s journey from selfish playboy to selfless hero was truly inspiring, and his ultimate sacrifice in Avengers: Endgame will forever be remembered as a key moment in the MCU.
Of course, Avengers: Infinity War, in which most of the franchise’s heroes came together to try and stop Thanos’ plan to wipe out half of the universe’s population, represented the conclusion of MCU’s decade-long projects. Following the events of Captain America: Civil War (2016), the heroes of the MCU were divided into two factions for Avengers: Infinity War’s ending. Nevertheless, in the end, neither group was able to prevent Thanos’ conquest.

Nearly six months after it opened theatrically in the U.S./Canada, Toho’s Oscar Special Effects-winning “Godzilla Minus One” is finally available at home.
As of Saturday June 1, the Takashi Yamazaki film is now available free for subscribers on Netflix. It is also on VOD for $5.99 as a 48-hour rental or $14.99 as a digital download on platforms like iTunes (where it is already #1), Fandango, and Amazon Prime VideoAmazon Prime[/link].
It is unheard of for a Saturday to be a VOD release date, and very unusual for Netflix. That suggests the contractual agreement between Toho and Legendary Pictures (the producers of “Godzilla x Kong: The New Empire”), which called for delayed availability for the Japanese title, specifically set June 1 as the earliest for home release.
A six-month window for home release is unheard of these days. Christopher Nolan’s “Oppenheimer” had a four-month delay before hitting PVOD. Streaming came after seven months.
