James G.'s Favorite Horror of 20181 of 10
10. Halloween
Don't get me wrong. I really enjoyed Halloween. David Gordon Green and Blumhouse deserve credit for returning Michael Myers to glory. The issue is, I didn't find it particularly scary, which is a problem. Several of the set-pieces worked on a technical level, but taken together they never added up to the tension and dread that I was hoping for. That being said, there is a lot to praise. Jamie Lee Curtis, Judy Greer, and Andi Matichak are great as the three generations of Strode women coping with the trauma that has followed Laurie since 1978. There's a lot of potential to take that theme further, and with a sequel practically guaranteed at this point, I'm really hoping we continue the journey with these characters.
