- The Méliès d'Argent Award for short film has been introduced in 2002 in addition to the award for feature film. Each festival member, the 7 affiliated members and the 3 adherent members, can take part. At the end of this year's award round, 10 to 20 European short films will thus be in competition for the best European fantastic short film.
- As of 2002 the Neuchâtel International Fantasy Film Festival is an adherent member of the European Federation of Fantastic Film Festivals.
