Ten Reasons We Loved Watching TV in 20106 of 11
"Community" Midway through its first season, this show grew from a lightweight sitcom fond of weaving pop culture references into each joke into a supremely goofy, genre-shattering half hour. Reliant on the character archetypes of any show set in a school (here, Greendale Community College), we have the cool chick, the narcissistic guy, the brain, the jock, the geek, nice girl Shirley and...whatever eccentric old guy Pierce (Chevy Chase) is supposed to be. From there, executive producer Dan Harmon takes them on bizarre rides through familiar entertainment tropes like action flicks (as in the episode "Modern Warfare," our vote for 2010's best), conspiracy thrillers, zombie movies and, recently, a tribute to stop-motion holiday specials. Beyond that, it's hard not to love characters like Shirley, Chang and dedicated best buds Troy and Abed.
