1. V for Vendetta (2005)

R | 132 min | Action, Drama, Sci-Fi

62 Metascore

In a future British dystopian society, a shadowy freedom fighter, known only by the alias of "V", plots to overthrow the tyrannical government - with the help of a young woman.

Director: James McTeigue | Stars: Hugo Weaving, Natalie Portman, Rupert Graves, Stephen Rea

Votes: 1,178,782 | Gross: $70.51M

10* In a futuristic England, where a totalitarian regime ruled without mercy, a very strange character only known by the letter V, swears to do whatever he can to change the world. Through his "acts of terrorism", he eliminates political and influential figures, one by one, determined to put an end to what "created" him in the first place. Along the way, he saves a girl called Evey who's about to change his perspective more than he manages to change hers. V for Vendetta features one of the best stories I've ever heard in my entire life. It's absolutely flawless throughout the whole movie creating and maintaining a high level of drama, tension but also passion. It's almost like a psychological thriller, revealing very small pieces of it's puzzle, one by one, letting you lust for more. Its special effects are awesome, its decor is great and its actors are top notch. The character V is simply breathtaking, combining a hidden body, a tough personality, a brilliant mind and some amazing skills. I simply adore this movie, it simply changed the way I see and understand movies, it marked me! You cannot miss it, it's a one of a kind masterpiece!

Directors: Dean DeBlois, Chris Sanders | Stars: Jay Baruchel, Gerard Butler, Christopher Mintz-Plasse, Craig Ferguson

Votes: 800,080 | Gross: $217.58M

10* Hiccup is an unusual member of a viking tribe. He's small, skinny and with no expertise in killing dragons. Humiliated and annoyed by everyone, overprotected by his father (the leader of the tribe), he plans to try to capture the only dragon which was so mysterious that nobody has ever seen it, The Night Fury. Unexpectedly, he captures it but then makes a very surprising discovery: dragons are not what was thought about them and they could be tamed with ease. Eventually Hiccup also finds that dragons were being terrorized by a gigantic six-eyed beast which demanded constant feeding in order not to kill everyone, so he sets up with his friends and against the will of the vikings to finish this monster once and for all. It is a superb movie featuring a memorable plot, breathtaking animations and great action. I can't find words to praise this movie. Everything about it is top-notch. Looks great, sounds fabulous, its story is one of a kind, it has them all! It made such an impression on myself that I can't think of anything better when taking about this kind of film. I absolutely loved the way Hiccup evolved from a looser to the pride of the tribe, appreciated and appraised by all. It's even better than Brave (which I adore)! Animation masterpiece without a shadow of a doubt!

3. The Fault in Our Stars (2014)

PG-13 | 126 min | Drama, Romance

69 Metascore

Hazel and Gus are teenagers who meet at a cancer support group and fall in love. They both share the same acerbic wit and a love of books, especially "An Imperial Affliction", so they embark on a journey to visit an author in Amsterdam.

Director: Josh Boone | Stars: Shailene Woodley, Ansel Elgort, Nat Wolff, Laura Dern

Votes: 400,954 | Gross: $124.87M

10* A terminally ill girl suffering from lung cancer meets a boy with a very difficult condition of his own who is about to change her life forever. A very close friendship is born between the two but it will not remain as such for long. As they spend more time together and understand each other's situation, their relation evolves, making the final part of their life more than bearable. As a final wish, he takes her to Amsterdam to visit the author of her favorite book but their adventure will not be without obstacles as illness never sleeps. The end to their story is as unexpected as it is tragic and sentimental, but in a good way. I cannot express the emotions I felt during this movie, every single word simply being insufficient in providing any explanation. It is very dramatic but at the same time it brings laughter when you least expect it and romance in its purest way. Two teens, deeply traumatized by their condition, find comfort in each other's arms, struggling every day not to loose faith in divinity and life while overcoming their fears. This movie can cause a lot of tears but it will also bring warmth in one's soul if he or she lets it. It's simply breath taking in every aspect, from its gorgeous story to its presentation, cast and finale. Make sure you don't miss this wonderful masterpiece!

4. Brave (2012)

PG | 93 min | Animation, Adventure, Comedy

69 Metascore

Determined to make her own path in life, Princess Merida defies a custom that brings chaos to her kingdom. Granted one wish, Merida must rely on her bravery and her archery skills to undo a beastly curse.

Directors: Mark Andrews, Brenda Chapman, Steve Purcell | Stars: Kelly Macdonald, Billy Connolly, Emma Thompson, Julie Walters

Votes: 441,950 | Gross: $237.28M

10* Merida is an unusual princess. She's not very well mannered, she's very stubborn, she's not even good at being a princess, but she's the best archer of all. When the time comes for her to choose a husband from the other three clans, a huge argument occurs between her and her mother which after some witchcraft, leads to the queen becoming a bear. Merida must change her difficult attitude, be brave and once again strengthen the bond between her and her mother before "all hell breaks loose". I don't know how to tell you how I feel about this movie. Its story is great, a lovely combination of action and drama, its animation is superb and its music is top notch. I couldn't believe how well all was put together. Every detail was taken care of and it really shows! Furthermore, its really really funny...and I mean it...really FUNNY! It's quite simply the best animation I've seen so far and it probably won't be beaten anytime soon. Enjoy!

5. Frozen (I) (2013)

PG | 102 min | Animation, Adventure, Comedy

75 Metascore

Fearless optimist Anna teams up with rugged mountain man Kristoff and his loyal reindeer Sven in an epic journey to find Anna's sister Elsa, whose icy powers have trapped the kingdom of Arendelle in eternal winter.

Directors: Chris Buck, Jennifer Lee | Stars: Kristen Bell, Idina Menzel, Jonathan Groff, Josh Gad

Votes: 663,466 | Gross: $400.74M

10* Two orphan princesses, Elsa and Anna, are separated from early age due to an accident involving Elsa's magical powers. Kept well hidden until the coronation ball, Elsa's powers unleash in an act of fear and thus she runs away, hoping that this way, her sister and the whole kingdom will remain safe. Unfortunately, that night, the whole place froze so Anna, filled with courage and hope, sets off in search of her missing sister. A dangerous journey awaits but with some help from her new friends, she might manage to turn around this unhappy course of events. It's a wonderful story of a misunderstood princess and the very fact that made her special which ultimately led to an unfortunate situation for everybody. It's absolutely gorgeous, from the surroundings to the peak of frozen beauty, Elsa's character. It simply shines in visual effects which delights your sight with every single chance it gets. It's a great musical so yo can except a lot of scenes in which visuals and audio combine in mesmerizing scenery. Its characters are really well defined, with unique traits, participating almost flawlessly into all the action, humor and drama. It's a complete movie in my opinion, an animation landmark!

6. ParaNorman (2012)

PG | 92 min | Animation, Adventure, Comedy

72 Metascore

A misunderstood boy takes on ghosts, zombies and grown-ups to save his town from a centuries-old curse.

Directors: Chris Butler, Sam Fell | Stars: Kodi Smit-McPhee, Anna Kendrick, Christopher Mintz-Plasse, Tucker Albrizzi

Votes: 109,888 | Gross: $56.00M

10* Norman is a kid who happens to possess the gift of seeing and speaking with the dead. As a result, he's considered a freak by the living and unfortunately by his family too. After his uncle dies, Norman is warned that the witch's curse will take part if he doesn't read from a special book at the graveyard before the sun set. Because he fails, Norman must team up with whoever he can to stop the curse once and for all. It features an interesting story centered on Norman and his ability to communicate with ghosts. We are able to watch him overcome his fears, making friends and uncover a dark secret which was haunting his town for 200 years. Although it's a sober horror story it manages quite often to be extremely hilarious. I really wasn't expecting this movie to be so entertaining as it was, it really took me by surprise. It's very well put together, superb animated and beautifully narrated. An animation masterpiece!

7. Puss in Boots (2011)

PG | 90 min | Animation, Action, Adventure

Director: Chris Miller | Stars: Antonio Banderas, Salma Hayek, Zach Galifianakis, Billy Bob Thornton

Votes: 192,115 | Gross: $149.26M

10* Puss in Boots is a cute kitty with a very handsome accent who's become an outlaw after betraying his adoptive town, San Ricardo. Together with and old friend and a new partner of his (who happens to be the most famous thief known), he must find the magic beans, travel to Giant's Castle and "retrieve" the golden goose, this way regaining his lost honor. What you're about to see is an epic adventure, filled with high quality action, romance, special effects and above all, lots and lots of fun. Although I was expecting a funny movie, it amazed me how well put together are all of its sequences. It's great story, told in a very pleasant manner kept me thrilled and entertained throughout the whole movie. It's a superb animation that I recommend with all my heart. I hope to see much more movies like this one!

8. The Princess and the Frog (2009)

Votes: 166,628 | Gross: $104.40M

10* Tiana is a poor girl who wanted, since she was a little child, to have a restaurant with her father. Although she worked very hard, her dream was becoming more and more impossible. One night, she wished on a star and a small frog came next to her. Willing to give it a chance, she kissed the frog, but instead of receiving a handsome prince, she turned herself into a frog. From there on, she must find out how such thing could have happened and undo the spell until it's too late. It's a superb animated movie, a gorgeous story told through music, laughter and emotion. For kids and genre fans but not only them, I can guarantee it's a great movie. Be sure to watch it!

Director: Bibo Bergeron | Stars: Matthieu Chedid, Vanessa Paradis, Gad Elmaleh, François Cluzet

Votes: 22,676

10* Emille and Raoul are two friends who accidentally create a monster which "terrorizes" Paris. The commissioner, eager to become the mayor of the city (regardless of costs), promises everyone that he will get rid of this monster once and for all. Meanwhile, Lucille, a star singer and old friend of Raoul, encounters this terrifying creature but it turns out it's not what everyone thought it was. From here on, our main characters join each other in their attempt to save this creature before it's too late. It's an emotional story with some unexpected turnovers which will keep you entertained from the beginning to the end. It's very romantic, sometimes even funny, making you wish it wasn't so short. Nevertheless, it's a great movie!

10. One Hundred and One Dalmatians (1961)

After the two dogs have fifteen puppies, Cruella De Vil manages to steal the the little ones in order to make coats out of their fur. Because humans couldn't find the stolen puppies, not even Scotland Yard, it's now all to Pongo and Perdita. Together with other dogs, they must find the kidnappers before they are able to do any harm. It's a classic story full of complexity, drama and suspense, laughter and action. You couldn't want anything more from a movie of its genre. Yet another must see!

11. Beauty and the Beast (1991)

10* Belle is a beautiful girl with an unusual attraction to books, contrary to her village's conception. While trying to rescue her father from a remote enchanted castle, she becomes the prisoner of a soulless beast, which triggered a spell upon his land "thanks" to his cold character. Although at first it seemed that nothing good can happen, they start getting attached to each other. Meanwhile, a pretender to Belle's hand, is determined to do any mischievous act in order to reach his goal. It's a classic and beautiful Disney story, beautifully told and drawn, which sends a lot of emotion, drama and love. It features a very good story which is presented through a series of musical moments which tend to give you goosebumps with every act. It's been one of my favorites since childhood and will continue to stay in my heart for a very long time. An animation masterpiece and a must see for everyone!

12. Phineas and Ferb the Movie: Across the 2nd Dimension (2011 TV Movie)

TV-G | 78 min | Animation, Action, Adventure

Directors: Robert Hughes, Dan Povenmire, Jay Lender, Jeff 'Swampy' Marsh, Kyle Menke | Stars: Vincent Martella, Ashley Tisdale, Thomas Brodie-Sangster, Caroline Rhea

Votes: 13,592

10* In one of their summer days, Phineas and Pherb accidentally help Dr. Doofenshmirtz to create a portal to another dimension in which he managed to take over the Tri-State Area. This way, the two boys find out that their beloved pet platypus is actually a secret agent who's been using them as a cover the whole time. Unfortunately there isn't time for a family reunion because they must fight, together with the other dimension's resistance (their identical characters), against an imminent invasion of their own place. From there on, everything goes Phineas and Pherb style! It's a superb movie which combines a great story, immersive action and entertainment full of cool background music. I can't explain how much I liked this movie, especially for its plot. The best of Phineas and Pherb without a shadow of a doubt!

13. Rise of the Guardians (2012)

PG | 97 min | Animation, Action, Adventure

58 Metascore

When the evil spirit Pitch launches an assault on Earth, the Immortal Guardians team up to protect the innocence of children all around the world.

Director: Peter Ramsey | Stars: Hugh Jackman, Alec Baldwin, Isla Fisher, Chris Pine

Votes: 192,467 | Gross: $103.41M

10* Jack Frost, a character nobody believed in, is one day chosen by The Moon to become the fifth guardian (after Santa Claus, The Easter Bunny, The Tooth Fairy and The Sand Man). Due to his difficult personality and the fact that his past was a complete mystery to him, Jack is not going to be easily convinced to take the job, unless something or someone really bad is going to show up. It's an interesting story in which very popular characters are shown somewhat different from their well known aspects and the fact that they are all guardians (literally fighting to keep the children of the world safe from any danger which might occur) makes it even cooler. The story of Jack Frost and how he becomes famous is really well put together in this movie, managing to be very funny at times, sober when it's needed and very entertaining overall. It looks absolutely gorgeous in every scene it depicts making it a real pleasure for your eyes. Although I had my reservations about this one, it really proved me wrong! A great piece of animation without any single doubt!

14. How to Train Your Dragon 2 (2014)

PG | 102 min | Animation, Action, Adventure

77 Metascore

Director: Dean DeBlois | Stars: Jay Baruchel, Cate Blanchett, Gerard Butler, Craig Ferguson

Votes: 363,801 | Gross: $177.00M

10* Five years after Hiccup brought peace between Vikings and dragons, he spends his time mapping the unknown world with the help of his beloved companion, Toothless. In their quest, they discover that an old acquaintance of his father's is assembling a mighty dragon army in order to become supreme leader. With the help of a very unexpected person, which kidnaps him in the beginning, he must lead his people and his dragon, once again, to restore the much needed peace. This is the sequel to the best animation ever created (in my opinion of course) which, frankly, I was expecting it to be as Cars 2, an utter failure without any doubt. To my surprise, it had nothing to do with it and it proved me wrong once again, shouting loud and clear that you can create a masterpiece in any circumstance if you really want to, and of course, have the power to do it. Visually speaking, it is simply astounding, enchanting your eyes with every scenery. Combined with the same funny, well shaped and much better animated characters, it manages to create a superb atmosphere which can be hardly described using mere words. The creators achieved something wonderful with this film, creating an emotional and satisfying story which features interesting and entertaining events after the first one's finale. Although it isn't as mind blowing as the original, it it still a brilliant piece of animation. Hats down to them!

15. Big Hero 6 (2014)

PG | 102 min | Animation, Action, Adventure

74 Metascore

Directors: Don Hall, Chris Williams | Stars: Ryan Potter, Scott Adsit, Jamie Chung, T.J. Miller

Votes: 501,366 | Gross: $222.53M

10* In a futuristic world where autonomous robots are something normal, a young boy abandons his time-wasting hobby of bot fighting to joins a college filled with nerds and high-end technology. Unfortunately, as he thought he had found a place in life, disaster strikes, taking the life of the person he loves most. Although considered to be an accident, the event proves to be more complex than expected, making the boy eager to find out the truth. Together with his friends and a large inflatable balloon robot, he is determined to fight his way, if necessary, to uncover what happened on that faithful night and what needs to be done to make things right. It is a brilliant movie with a good plot and a funny way of presenting its events. It has plot turnovers, it has funny and enjoyable characters, basically everything you need from an animation to be brilliant, but the whole show is stolen by the inflatable robot with its unique style and pleasure inducing actions. A very good example of animation at its best!

16. Zootopia (2016)

PG | 108 min | Animation, Action, Adventure

78 Metascore

In a city of anthropomorphic animals, a rookie bunny cop and a cynical con artist fox must work together to uncover a conspiracy.

Directors: Byron Howard, Rich Moore, Jared Bush | Stars: Ginnifer Goodwin, Jason Bateman, Idris Elba, Jenny Slate

In order to fulfill her dream, she studies hard to get qualified and travels to the great city of Zootopia. There, she's about to find out that life is much harder than expected, full of problems and different people among which she has to struggle to make a name for herself. She'll have to use all the skills and patience she's got in order to succeed but also the help of a curious fox which she "forces" to join her adventures. It's a brilliant, suspenseful and joyful story of a rabbit which must overcome its status in oder to achieve a lifetime dream. The animation is top notch, the plot is superb with twists and turns while the characters are very well balanced and drawn. Simply put, it's an animation masterpiece, a one of a kind movie and a must see for everyone. You'll certainly love this title!

17. Ratatouille (2007)

96 Metascore

A rat who can cook makes an unusual alliance with a young kitchen worker at a famous Paris restaurant.

Directors: Brad Bird, Jan Pinkava | Stars: Brad Garrett, Lou Romano, Patton Oswalt, Ian Holm

Votes: 823,973 | Gross: $206.45M

10* Remy, an apparently ordinary rat who lives with his pack in a remote house, discovers that he has an extraordinary gift. He is able to smell all flavors and poisons, thus becoming very useful for his kind, but this new ability also comes with a lot of curiosity regarding food and cooking. This curiosity, bound to get him in trouble, ultimately sends him to Paris where it was thought that anybody can cook. There, he teams up with a very odd human with a special life of his own, in an attempt to prove his extraordinary abilities. He has a lot of work to do and many obstacles to overcome but his determination and skill will help him in many difficult situations. It's a superb animation which presents a beautiful, interesting and suspenseful life story which ultimately ends with style besides all problems the main characters have to face. It's beautifully animated, it has everything you can want from a movie, drama, suspense, romance and action while keeping your attention and interest all the time. Simply put, it's an animation masterpiece and a very good movie which I warmly recommend to anyone looking for a good time. Simply brilliant!

18. WALL·E (2008)

Director: Andrew Stanton | Stars: Ben Burtt, Elissa Knight, Jeff Garlin, Fred Willard

Votes: 1,199,570 | Gross: $223.81M

10* After Earth gets overwhelmed by garbage, all humans flee into space aboard the Axiom, waiting for robots to clean up the mess. Among them, Wall°e has developed a small personality, gathering objects of its interest, while doing the job it was programmed for. Meanwhile, a probe from the Axiom arrives, by the name of Eve, and starts looking for evidence of life. Together, they're about to change the fate of humanity, without even knowing the consequences of their actions. It's a movie which tries to send a message about pollution and ultimately, its effects in the upcoming future, and it does it with style. By telling the story of the two cute robots, which is without any doubt very emotional and catchy, it draws the viewer into its world, making him care about the main characters and willing or unwillingly, about the fate of future humans who were inevitably involved into human-like vegetables. It's beautifully animated, written and presented, making it an animation with class which will stay on top many years to come.

19. Interstellar (2014)

PG-13 | 169 min | Adventure, Drama, Sci-Fi

74 Metascore

When Earth becomes uninhabitable in the future, a farmer and ex-NASA pilot, Joseph Cooper, is tasked to pilot a spacecraft, along with a team of researchers, to find a new planet for humans.

Director: Christopher Nolan | Stars: Matthew McConaughey, Anne Hathaway, Jessica Chastain, Mackenzie Foy

Votes: 2,097,057 | Gross: $188.02M

10* In a futuristic world where Earth's resources have mostly vanished and people are on the verge of starvation, an ingenious engineer accepts to be sent in a space expedition, hoping to find a new habitable world which to populate. With the promise of return, he's determined to complete his vital mission, but, along the way, he will encounter many obstacles, more and more unexpected and tedious, which will make him question anything he knew about life and time. It's a mind boggling experience which I found simply amazing, no matter the point of view. I was astonished by its complexity and visual effects, let alone its wow inducing facts regarding time and the universe. Its story slowly evolves, going into uncharted territory to my delight, ending after nearly three unnoticed hours with style. Although apparently lengthy, it manages to create a superb cosmic atmosphere, filled with mystery, suspense and tension, boredom being something out of the question. It's simply an astonishing piece of cinematography, thanks to its cast, story and visual effects. The fact that it didn't won much more academy awards simply puzzles me.

20. The Matrix (1999)

R | 136 min | Action, Sci-Fi

73 Metascore

When a beautiful stranger leads computer hacker Neo to a forbidding underworld, he discovers the shocking truth--the life he knows is the elaborate deception of an evil cyber-intelligence.

Directors: Lana Wachowski, Lilly Wachowski | Stars: Keanu Reeves, Laurence Fishburne, Carrie-Anne Moss, Hugo Weaving

Votes: 2,051,456 | Gross: $171.48M

10* Mr. Anderson, a software programmer and a computer hacker, is drawn into an alternative universe by Morpheus, a guy who believes him to be chosen one inside The Matrix. There, he begins to embrace the "real life" and train in order to help the rebellion fight the machines who have enslaved humans for too long. He slowly evolves from "just another guy" to someone capable of doing truly impressive actions in order to survive and protect his new friends from the notorious agents. It's a truly impressive movie, spectacular in every single way, from the mind bending story to the slow motion combat and shooting. It's thrilling, dramatic and full of action. It's something revolutionary, something which you will love, regardless of movie preferences. Simply brilliant!

21. X-Men: Days of Future Past (2014)

75 Metascore

The X-Men send Wolverine to the past in a desperate effort to change history and prevent an event that results in doom for both humans and mutants.

Director: Bryan Singer | Stars: Patrick Stewart, Ian McKellen, Hugh Jackman, James McAvoy

Votes: 744,771 | Gross: $233.92M

10* As a result of the increased awareness of the mutant presence among humans, a scientist creates The Sentinels, a type of robots designed to locate and erase them from the face of the earth, having the ability to adapt to every possible situation. Things don't work according to plan and soon, total annihilation awaits. Thus, the last remaining group of mutants decides to send Wolverine back into the past in his attempt to undo the faithful event which determined the very creation of those weapons of mass destruction. It is a brilliant story taking place simultaneously over a large period of time, in which mutants expose their greatest powers and work together for a common cause. It looks spectacular and it creates a wonderful atmosphere, full of tension, suspense, action and destruction. It is hard to express through words the feeling that this movie game me and thus, I have to admit that it is indeed one of the best sci-fi movies I have seen so far, even better than First Class. A must see!

22. X-Men: Apocalypse (2016)

PG-13 | 144 min | Action, Adventure, Sci-Fi

52 Metascore

In the 1980s the X-Men must defeat an ancient all-powerful mutant, En Sabah Nur, who intends to thrive through bringing destruction to the world.

Director: Bryan Singer | Stars: James McAvoy, Michael Fassbender, Jennifer Lawrence, Nicholas Hoult

Votes: 460,816 | Gross: $155.44M

10* After an old threat to humanity is resurrected and starts recruiting his henchmen, the old X-Men are taken by surprise by his immense power so they must unite forces once again in order to stop him from destroying the world. Although having quite an ordinary premise for a superhero movie (an old superpower which rises after a very long time to bring apocalypse) this one manages to stay in row with the previous X-Men instalments and deliver a solid plot with great action accompanied by amazing CGI. It has drama, suspense, thrill and joy, all in the same picture which keeps you glued to the screen until the finale. Although starting a bit slow, it gradually builds up tension until the big confrontation which is simply spectacular. I enjoyed it very much. It is another success from this beloved franchise and I truly hope that the upcoming ones will be at least as good.

23. Amélie (2001)

R | 122 min | Comedy, Romance

70 Metascore

Despite being caught in her imaginative world, Amelie, a young waitress, decides to help people find happiness. Her quest to spread joy leads her on a journey where she finds true love.

Director: Jean-Pierre Jeunet | Stars: Audrey Tautou, Mathieu Kassovitz, Rufus, Lorella Cravotta

Votes: 793,887 | Gross: $33.23M

10* Amelie is a very odd French citizen, who's childhood wasn't quite happy, as the narrator presented. She has a very interesting behaviour (due to her lonely type). Instead of telling people what she thinks, she interferes with their lives, putting them in various situations, which will make them change their attitude, mood or even mentality. Soon after she starts helping people in this way, she encounters a wierd person, just like herself, with whom she falls in love. The only problem is that she hasn't got the courage to meet him and tell him what she thinks. So she devises a sort of detective game, which hopefully will be played by her lover. It's a superb story, I can't explain in words how this movie made me feel. I was puzzled, confused, intrigued and entertained at the same time. Very weird indeed! It also made me laugh very much, something I wasn't expecting from this film. Its marvelous story, combined with a French atmosphere create a movie you'll hardly forget! An Undeniable Masterpiece!

After he manages to save one of them, serious questions begin to appear about his whole operation and even the war which generated all this mayhem. Jack will have to face the past and uncover the truth about everything before he can do anything about the present situation, which is desperate need of assistance. It's a mind boggling story full of unpredictable events, suspense, drama but also action. It features throughout its entire length some one of a kind, state of the art computer generated landscapes of a post apocalyptic earth which will simply take your breath away. Although it seemed a bit generic in the beginning, it rapidly evolved in complexity making you wonder all the time what actually happened and what will happen next. It's a very good movie, as you would expect from a Tom Cruise movie but it you like its story and its visuals as much as I do, you'll find this one to be a pretty epic movie of its genre.

After dying from his first contact with the aliens, he realizes that he can repeat that faithful day again and again. Thus, teaming up with a female war veteran, he must find the source of the alien power and eliminate it before the whole humankind becomes extinct. It's a very intense action movie featuring one of the best actors for the job, Tom Cruse. They've managed to take advantage of this time loop idea, similar to first person shooter games, and create a wonderful piece of Sci-Fi engineering. Although not groundbreaking, the plot is complex and unpredictable most of the time so boredom is out of the question. It's full of action and suspense and together with some unexpected comedy sequences, it creates a great movie atmosphere. A must see as with most movies of this kind in which Tom is present.

Unfortunately, not everything goes according to plan when he realises he's not the only one after them. The other guys plan to use the codes to bomb the USA, this way causing a global war that in their mind, could bring peace once and for all. After the Kremlin is attacked and Ethan is blamed, IMF gets shut down. With no support from base, he must lead his newly formed team to the annihilation of the terrorists before it's too late for humanity. It's a superb action movie, very entertaining, surprisingly funny, full of thrill with a very solid, complex and also complicated story. Obviously, Sci-Fi plays and important role once again in Ethan's arsenal but in a way that amazes you, not exaggerated or overused. I'm glad I went to the cinema to watch it earlier rather than waiting for the DVD to be released. A great movie!

10* After a very successful neurosurgeon loses his ability to perform as a result of a car accident, he is drawn into a cult of magicians where he finds out that the world he thought he knew so well was just a tiny fragment of something much greater than imagination. Due to his arrogant character, the learning process is quite slow and requires extra attention from The Ancient One, but once he starts to understand what is going on, a new world full of possibilities unfolds in front of him. But, as expected, evil and destructive forces await by the corner, thus, sooner than he could expect, he'll be fighting with his life to save the world as he knows it. It's a very impressive film, which describes in detail a fictional world using flawless, top notch CGI. The action, as the plot itself, are very good and contribute with much success to a catchy atmosphere which keeps you attracted until the end. The actors are also on par with the movie, managing to transmit all sorts of emotions through their play. It's a wonderful representation based on the Marvel universe, full of action, excitement and amazement. You have to see this one, for fans and non-fans alike.

10* In a futuristic world where crime was practically eliminated from the city of Washington by an organization called PreCrime, John Anderton gets accused of a future murder he cannot commit. So from that moment, John must uncover the true source of this mistake which can affect his career but also his life. It's a mind blowing example of how to create a truly complex and mysterious thriller. We follow the main character in his deep struggle to uncover a real mystery confronting numerous barriers along the way. A lot of cover-ups, turn-overs, unexpected situations and sequences which seem imported directly from "Mission Impossible" occur, managing to retain your attention throughout the whole length movie. The whole PreCrime idea in which a murder could be prevented even before it is committed is very interesting and superbly executed in the film (especially when reffering to the PreCogs) while the actors play their roles in a very good manner. I strongly recommend this one to those seeking for a brain struggle.

Director: Tony Scott | Stars: Denzel Washington, Paula Patton, Jim Caviezel, Val Kilmer

Votes: 327,448 | Gross: $64.04M

10* After a terrorist attack on a ship filled with marines, causing deaths to hundreds of people, an ATF agent joins the investigation which uses state of the art surveillance technology. What he's about to find out is more puzzling than he ever could have thought, the "experimental" device having powers even beyond his imagination. Together with his new colleagues, he will track down the terrorist but also try to alter the events which lead to the catastrophe, in a desperate attempt to save one of the victims. It's a very thrilling movie, which presents a futuristic device which has a lot of influence in what is about to happen, both professionally and personally. It presents a series of events only to show later how they can be altered with the right actions. It's puzzling, mind boggling and dramatic while keeping you eager to find out its unexpected but very satisfying finale. It is indeed a bit exaggerated, even in the context of a fictional machine, but it doesn't count enough to reduce the 10* it really deserves.

Votes: 346,873 | Gross: $1.20M

10* In a world which barely survived world war three, a new method of protection is forced to the population, that of denying every possible human emotion. Without any feeling, humans act like robots, having a linear and senseless life, this way excluding the threat of a new conflict. All of this is possible with a medicine which has to be administrated periodically and to ensure the execution of this "law", a group of clerics has been formed, human weapons which impose the Father's will at any cost and without any remorse. Things is about to change when the leader of the clerics stops taking the compulsory medicine and begins to have feelings about everything and everyone surrounding him, making it difficult to continue his beastly job. He will have to avoid being detected by authorities and eventually contact the rebellion in order to restore sense to everybody, thus returning the world to normality. It's a dramatic movie featuring lots of breath taking action and combat which left me speechless with every iteration. The way the cleric dramatically changes his life after gaining feeling is thrilling and impressive and although it leads to an expected and imminent finale, it provides an unique post apocalyptic atmosphere. Bale plays a superb role in this movie, his moves and skills leaving a great impression when it comes to this type of movies. A brilliant film in every aspect!

Votes: 488,729 | Gross: $150.95M

10* In a post apocalyptic world divided into factions, Beatrice must figure out what path to choose for her future. After the exams, she learns that she has qualities for every faction, making her a Divergent, a sort of people the leaders want to get rid of at all costs. Together with her instructor, Four, they must find and eradicate the source of corruption before the whole population will suffer. It's a very interesting plot, in a atmospheric environment, full of action, suspense and thrill. Tris' evolution is presented in detail, from a simple student who is about to be kicked out, to one of the best, with a target on her forehead. It looks gorgeous, it's very well written, it's entertaining and very thrilling. It made me more and more curious about the fate of the two protagonists whilst not disappointing me any single time. As a minor downside, it didn't have the most conclusive finale, not even close, but it leaved a good opportunity for a sequel. I enjoyed this one from start to finish, thanks to it's great actors, characters, plot and visuals. A superb movie!

Director: Antoine Fuqua | Stars: Denzel Washington, Marton Csokas, Chloë Grace Moretz, David Harbour

Votes: 419,694 | Gross: $101.53M

10* Robert, apparently a normal and ordinary guy, working at a local supermarket, hides a secret past in which he gained a set of extraordinary skills which make him the ultimate killing machine. Unlike others, he uses his abilities only to make justice, but his latest act brings him into a secret world, controlled and lead by the Russian mafia without any mercy. It has a lot of implications but Robert is determined to get to the highest ranking in order to get rid of these human pests which have terrorized people far too long. It's a movie which although starts very slow and calm, features a series of spectacular combat scenes, with Denzel Washington as protagonist, who does a truly great job (as usual for him) in creating a superb character. His acts amaze you more and more as the plot enrolls, making you lust for more with each scene. It's a masterpiece in terms of characters, story, action and of course, actors.

10* After deciding to quit his very reputable life of crime for some quality time with his family, John Wick has to bury his beloved wife, who died as a result of a terrible disease. A couple of days later, the son of his former employer, not knowing his past, steals his car and kills his dog. Infuriated like never before, John takes once again matters into his own hand and begins eliminating their whole clan, one by one, with some help from old friends. This movie is the perfect example how to make awesome action and shooting scenes which manage to impress any eye. It's a visual delight, a true demonstration of determination, skill and power. The way he executes his foes reminds me of "Equilibrium", another majestic piece of armed action and combat. Its story, although not very complex, presents a classic case of revenge, no matter the consequences, if there are any. Overall, it is very thrilling, suspenseful and entertaining, a truly awesome representation!

10* After finding the apartment he has been searching for a long time, a lonely and depressed man starts to have what appears to be hallucinations of a woman his age, which appears and disappears at will, which strongly believes that she's alive and the rightful owner of the residence. With or without his will, he's about to find out a very interesting story about the ghostly appearance and due to it, his life will soon be changed dramatically. It's a wonderful movie, which describes loneliness, love and belief in a very interesting, funny and captivating plot which keeps you breathless until the end. The two main actors play their roles wonderfully, making you care for their characters and worry about what is going to happen to them. You feel part of the movie and this is exactly what makes it special, besides its very good ghost idea. To say that I enjoyed it would be a great understatement. I recommend it to absolutely everyone, regardless of age or movie preference because it is a must see!

10* A bartender starts a conversation with an unusual client which leads to a storytelling about life, time travel and the paradoxes of it. It's a pretty unusual movie who's entire plot is based on time travel. Although very slow paced, we follow the life of the bar client which he promises to be one of a kind. The plot is very interesting at its core, especially when they move to the time travel part, while your mind begins to struggle with the contradictory information it receives due to the paradoxes which are implied. They've managed to take a fantastic but brilliant idea and transform it into something which simply makes your brain hurt. If you're after a mind boggling story like I was, this is the movie to see. I cannot express it in words so I will deeply encourage you to see it! It really is a masterpiece in terms of plot.

A small but intelligent boy, living with his divorced mother, is hiding a big secret which has been affecting his life for as long as he lived. In order to help the boy, he must learn to understand what he thinks and ultimately believe him, but this will prove to be much harder than expected as his wife is getting lonelier than ever before, having a desperate need of attention. It’s a fascinating story of a boy who possesses special "powers" and requires of help as his short life is a living nightmare, haunting him with every step he takes. It's very emotional, atmospheric and truly frightening due to its horror scenes but mostly due to the quality of its actors. The small boy is flawlessly played, managing to transmit every emotion and every fear he has. It's a very good movie, but what makes it truly special is the finale which leaves you frozen in amazement. It's just WOW! It's unexpected, intense and breathtaking, while explaining at the same time many scenes which happened before and ended up with a question mark on their head. It left me with deep emotions and thanks to its catching atmosphere, I can only call it a masterpiece which should be seen by anybody who loves or enjoys movies. A must see!

They must perform three great magic acts involving money crimes while deviating the whole FBI from their trail. Some incredible mastery will be shown in the process creating tons of delight especially for the big fans of magic as myself. It was completely unexpected and unpredictable, two must have factors for such a film while its finale was simply mind-blowing. I've waited a lot of time for such a movie and it finally came. I cannot tell anything more from the plot because a spoiler for this one is the worst type. Oh, did I mention that the actors play some very good roles? Enjoy, enjoy, enjoy!

Votes: 66,055 | Gross: $0.05M

10* Tom and Margaret form a very unusual team, specialized in unmasking every single fraud attempt regarding magic acts, haunting, or everything that involved paranormal powers which cannot be explained. In their vast experience, they haven't encountered any single person capable of doing anything supernatural so it became a belief that everybody who claimed to do such acts, was a fraud. That is, until a retired legend in magic decides to do a final encore that will shock the world. We're talking about a movie that manages to transmit so much tension, drama and suspense altogether that almost no other has done before. The way it combines magic with an outstanding story which ultimately leads to a finale that leaves you speechless is simply brilliant. I cannot describe my feelings about this movie in plain words, as I am a dedicated fan of magic and everything related to it. It raises so many questions and provides so little answers just to blow your mind with its ending. The way it's written, the way it's presented, I simply cannot find something against it as hard as I try. An underrated masterpiece!

Having completely different lives and social positions but also many secrets, the two try to make a life out of magic in a desperate pursuit of the ultimate illusion. Sabotage and dirty hands play an important role in their work but with every failed act, their work but also characters greatly improve. It's a very interesting movie which doesn't amaze you with its magic, but, on the contrary, with its plot, characters and especially, it's finale. It's very complex, extremely well thought and executed, its deep atmosphere drawing you slowly into its world. It's a very good movie for magic lovers like myself, but also for people in search of mind boggling plots. A must see for everyone!

10* A very good lawyer and his wife move to New York for a very well paid contract provided by a mysterious guy's firm. There, he's provided with everything he and his wife could desire but things are not going to be as great as they expected. The old proverb is true: money doesn't bring happiness, so he becomes much too busy and determined to further prove himself with his career (in which he builds truly brilliant cases of defending the guilty ones) that he has much too less time for his wife, who slowly seems to lose her mind. His boss on the other hand, has a serious past and will ultimately prove to be a character beyond everyone's imagination. It's a movie full of suspense, tension and unexpected events which keep you attracted and eager to find how such a complicated and complex situation can end. Speaking of the finale, it is simply great, unpredictable and very satisfying. Keanu plays a good role but Al Pacino truly shines, his performance managing to create a truly awesome character. I cannot express in words what great sensation this movie left me so I will simply recommend it with all my heart! Be aware though, it has some creepy moments, quite unsuitable for the faint hearted.

He's presented as a criminal with every occasion and he almost gets sent to jail but this movie provides several huge and unexpected turns of events which will leave you breathless. Half of the run time, you're made to believe something, just to have it completely demolished in the second half and conclude everything with a shock. You have to see it to understand the story, all I can tell you is that it is simply brilliant. Very complex and unexpected, it keeps you in mystery, gradually building suspense and bringing amazement with every new scene. Great characters, genius plot, very good actors, what more can you want from a movie? It definitely deserves its iMDb rating, without any doubt!

10* When a high-class individual is accused of a murder he claims to have not committed, he receives a visit from a very successful lawyer who hasn't lost a case in her entire career. But, in order to help him, she demands full trust and thus, the entire story which ultimately lead to the tragedy. It's a very interesting movie which presents its story in an unique way, often changing perspective and or point of view in order to keep the viewer glued to the screen. I have to admit that it starts a bit like a soap opera, slow and a bit cliché, but slowly evolves in terms of story, storytelling and character complexity, becoming very thrilling and interesting. It plays with you multiple times, making you believe something just to destroy it only a couple of sequences later. It's a mind boggling film, with very good actors, a great plot and an excellent finale which I have to say that it is a must see for every movie lover. I'm surprised by the fact that it is not very popular, judging by the quality it presents. Might be because of its language or a bad timing? It really is a shame that it hasn't received a bit more attention, because it truly deserves it!

10* James Clayton, a brilliant mind who invented a software which could hack any transmission, is recruited by a member of the CIA who foresees a great future for him. James endures hard and painful training in order to remain in the facility and as he is told, nothing is what it seems and everything is a test. He manages to hold on but his world is about to change when he's assigned a mission which involves a person very close to him. It's a psychological thriller, featuring suspense, action and of course, drama. Its plot is complex and entertaining, while featuring an unexpected finale. It has well drawn characters played by great actors which do a really good job in creating such an unique atmosphere. I enjoyed every part of this film, influenced by it's intriguing trailer so I definitely recommend it to genre lovers but not only.

10* Ray Breslin is a very unusual man. He tests how escape proof are prisons for a living, going undercover inside them and evading with style. His latest offer is a bit different though, as he must try to escape from a prototype penitentiary, whom's location is strictly classified, build entirely by Ray's escape book, . Realizing he has been tricked, he teams up with another convict, Rottmayer, a perfect partner for what he needs, and plans his biggest evasion ever. However, it will prove to be much harder than he thought as the Warden and the one who betrayed him will stop at nothing to maintain their prison's unbreakable reputation. It's a very thrilling piece of cinematography, featuring two of my childhood heroes, Arnold Schwarzenegger and Sylvester Stallone. Their smart and able characters form a great team which manages to impress me with every action they undergo. It's full of tension, suspense, quality fighting and shooting, just like in the old times. It's even funny sometimes! Simply brilliant!

Although everything seems to separate them, an unexpected attraction appears, but each other's pride, together with his mysterious and troubled past are going to play an important role in any future interaction between them. The whole plot revolves more or less around their relationship, which seems to be doomed from the first moment, but as time passes, they begin to find and learn more about each other, while their feelings easily start to come out. It's a very interesting and captivating movie which presents a series of events in a past England, where women were forced to get married to somebody richer than them in order to have a decent life, although love couldn't even be put into question. The adventures of one of the sisters who refused money in detriment of love are directly put into action in this movie, along with all the drama, romance but also struggles involved. It's superbly put into play, extraordinary spoken, creating an unique atmosphere which captures you from the beginning, making you wish it won't end soon. A masterpiece with excellent actors which cannot be missed!

Unfortunately for her, the only job she finds is as an entertainer at a notorious bar called "Coyote Ugly". In those harsh surrounding she meets an attractive boy who's going to play a very important role in both her career and life. It's a nice story of a girl and her struggle in an unforgiving city, filled with romance, drama but also laughter, courtesy of her beloved father. The scenes are exquisite and the music is great but not as great as the movie itself. Enjoy!

They will try to record a whole album on a very limited budget on the streets of New York with the help of some bored but talented locals. Their plan will prove to be a challenge but the outcome may provide a lot more than financial satisfaction. It's a beautiful story which shows how life can take sudden and unexpected turns, and how people can adapt to each situation they are faced with. It presents its ideas in an unique way, interlacing present with the past a couple of times. Along the way, it provides some beautiful and entertaining music which combined with the actors' performance, make the view a real pleasure. It's a very enjoyable movie which I definitely recommend to all who search for a great combination of music, drama and romance.

10* In a past England where people were reluctant to anything related to magic, a mysterious character appears, who's determined to accomplish his plan of ruling the country using techniques which seem directly related to dark magic. A brilliant but problematic detective by the name of Sherlock Holmes is required to solve the mysterious acts and stop the increasingly scary villain before he succeeds in his attempt. It's a brilliant idea which is being set in action by a couple of very talented actors. They do a wonderful job in presenting this mystery film which has almost everything you could wish for. It's simply astonishing how Sherlock presents his next moves and also how he explains what he knows so far, what he discovered and what it is about to happen. It's interesting, funny and addictive with a very good plot and a superb execution. You have to see it in order to fully understand the value of this movie.

10* This sequel follows the story of its predecessor, a couple of months after, with a bored Sherlock who desperately tries to find something to do. Soon, he finds out that a famous professor is conceiving a plan of controlling the world, thus he and his accomplices must be stopped. It's a thrilling and fascinating movie which seems to focus more on action rather than mystery, as opposed to its predecessor. It's not a bad thing as it has more occasions to amaze us with Sherlock's skills who also predicts and explains his every move in an impressive manner. It is captivating, mysterious, funny and full of action, while its main actors do a very good job in creating and maintaining an unique atmosphere. It's a must see just like its predecessor although I find the other one a bit better in every aspect.

Once they accept, a whole new adventure starts in her life, bringing hope of "reuniting" the once lost family. This movie is a special kind. One you rarely find, but when you do, you're in for a great surprise! It is simply very happy! It manages to put a smile on your face almost with every scene, creating a superb atmosphere. Add to the picture a whole album of Abba's greatest songs, interpreted with style by its brilliant actors and you get a movie like you've never seen, determined to make you enjoy it at its fullest, from the beginning to the end. It makes you dance with it, feel it and live it! Although its story isn't much, it is enough to link the marvelous singing and dancing moments which will definitely leave a great impression. 10* When an old couple find that their estranged son suffers from a severe brain tumor, they go immediately to the hospital for assistance. After the surgery, their son is simply unrecognizable, the disease having had a great influence on the boy's mental health. Although being in a hard financial situation, the two parents do their best in order to ensure their son a much hoped recovery, but the doctor is very skeptical. In a desperate attempt to bring back their son, they approach a doctor specialized in such situations which seems to be able to communicate with him once music from his youth was played. Using this method, old memories are brought back, presenting how it was before and what lead to their separation. It's a very emotional and dramatic movie which shows what two simple parents are forced to face in order to be able to simply exchange a couple of words with their only boy which was missing for a very long time. It's as interesting and thrilling as it is dramatic and eye watering, bringing suspense but also some hard worked joy with every new attempt to revive the ill minded son. Although slow paced, it manages to keep you interested, alternating reality with past memories, making the story even more emotional that it already is. I simply recommend this movie as it profoundly affected me but be warned though...it might be a bit more dramatic than you might expect it to be, especially towards the end.

10* When two young guys get wrongly accused of robbing a store and killing the clerk, their only chance of proving innocence is put in charge of cousin Vinny, which is as inexperienced as he is disrespectful of the law. He soon realizes that he doesn't stand a chance in his current form, so together with his fiance, starts learning what needs to be done in order to be a proper attorney. The path he chooses will prove to be very hard and bumpy, but, as it is with every Gambini, he's not going to give up without a fight, and what a fight he will provide! It is a very enjoyable movie revolving on Vinny's first case and his evolution along the way in order to prove himself worthy of his name and fiance. Her help will have a great impact on his life and career, character which is being flawlessly played by Marisa Tomei. Judging by today's Oscars, it's an award which definitely lands in the right hands after such a performance. It's a brilliant movie in my opinion, which manages to be serious and funny at the same time without breaking a sweat, delivering it's much expected finale with style!

Although dedicated to their friendship which theoretically cannot evolve, Wallace starts to have feelings for her, but, being afraid he might lose her, decides too keep them for himself, hoping that one day, something special will happen. Their friendship will face a lot of obstacles but they will ultimately have to decide what they are going to do with their lives as unpredictable awaits around the corner. It's a very realistic and interesting story, which describes a relationship that seems doomed from the beginning, but which later provides several pleasant surprises. It's romantic and sober, dramatic and funny, and overall a very good movie. It's hard not to like it. The actors deliver very good performances, its story is very good, although it might seem generic and, as much as I try, I simply cannot find anything against it. An excellent movie of its genre!

From one Thanksgiving to the next one, each member will have to face his life, his fears and his mentality in order to fix what was wrong and reach a whole new state of happiness. It's a movie which focuses on different, stubborn personalities which will have to take a turn, more or less willingly, more or less for the better. Their change is, although slow, well described throughout the picture, proving that anyone can change and above all, love is real and more powerful than anything. It's emotional and dramatic, romantic and happy, while sometimes even funny. All the actors do a very good job in maintaining suspense, while creating a pleasant environment, which will warm your heart with its finale. A gorgeous movie!

10* A woman arrives with her daughter in an old village, where she rents a place and transforms it into a chocolate shop. Unbeknownst to her, the locals, ruled by a traditionalist mayor, are people determined to keep their customs with much fear of God, thus any small change is seen as sin and must be eradicated. Fortunately, our protagonist is not willing to give up as easily, even when all odds are against her, so she starts making good deeds with the help of her shop, slowly convincing people from the mayor's side that some love and a bit of chocolate will never bring any harm. Her attempts slowly seem to work but the mayor will have a big role in the picture, convinced of his belief that she must be sent away from "his" village, along with those pesky "pirates" which she befriends. It's a very enjoyable movie, with a pleasant finale, which once again proves that anyone can change if the right circumstances are met, forcing people to follow your beliefs not being the answer.

10* After having graduated in journalism, Andy, a young, foolish girl with no sense of fashion whatsoever, is hired as second assistant of Miranda Priestly. Miranda is the powerful, cruel and heartless leader of a very famous magazine which always has the last word regarding anything fashion-related. Although at first, this job didn't seem to mean anything to Andy, she soon realized that working hard is far from what Miranda was expecting from her. Together with advancing in her career, a lot of social problems appeared, Andy being effectively obliged to choose between her boyfriend, her family, her friends and her job. It's a truly dramatic story of how a girl's life is affected after she chooses such a difficult employer, in such a harsh environment. It's a truly enjoyable movie, with lots of dramatic and tense moments meant to take your breath away but also a lot of funny sequences which I liked. I have to point out that the acting of Meryl Streep is simply astonishing followed obviously by Anne Hathaway's. I really loved them. A great movie from one end to the other!

Director: Nancy Meyers | Stars: Mel Gibson, Helen Hunt, Marisa Tomei, Alan Alda

Votes: 222,213 | Gross: $182.81M

10* Nick is a charming guy with the ability to attract every single woman he wants but he has absolutely no clue about how women really think and as a result, he's not the most appreciated man, especially at his workplace. After being rejected by his boss on a promotion he took for granted, nervous and drunk, he has an unfortunate accident which will radically change his perspective over women. He's given the ability to hear exactly what women think and although at first it seems like a curse, he slowly learns how it can be used in his advantage on both professional and personal life. I have to admit, this idea is brilliant and the way it's being illustrated into the film is even greater. It begins a bit slow, but from the moment Nick gains his "power", the whole movie becomes extremely exciting, every single phrase he hears having a big impact on his mind. It's an absolute pleasure to watch and the way it combines a bit of drama with comedy and romance is gorgeous. I love it!

10* Elizabeth is a person who loves luxury more than everything, so being dumped by her wealthy fiance comes like a shock. Determined to find someone else who can take care of her needs, she decides to have a breast implant, the only problem is that she's broke and the surgery costs a lot of money. Being a lazy and useless teacher, she must improve her position dramatically on both profesional and social plans in order to achieve her goal. Throughout the movie, we'll see a truly "bad teacher" that will progress one step at a time, depending on different occasions she encounters, from a soulless person only interested in herself, to someone who's able to actually help someone in need. Its story starts as an average plot but slowly evolves towards the end, achieving an unexpected grade of complexity. I know it sounds a little too sophisticated but in fact, what it turned out to be is an extremely hilarious movie which will make you laugh like you never did before. It's brilliantly funny!

Votes: 139,905 | Gross: $82.39M

10* After dressing up as real cops at a masquerade ball, two losers make a hobby out of wearing their outfits, even buying a police car. They have a lot of fun but everything changes when the real police shows up, things becoming really interesting. They become somewhat forced to bring down a very dangerous mafia boss who's been messing around with locals for too long so they will have to overcome their past and their fears to accomplish what the real cops have failed. It's a true comedy, which does everything it can to make you laugh, succeeding with style most of the time. It has a good plot which evolves in a pleasant manner, it has typical comedy characters and an enjoyable finale. Although it's predictable in terms of story, as you would expect from this type of movie, it managed to make me laugh so hard and so often that I won't deduct any points. It's simply a great comedy, guaranteed to bring more than a smile to anyone's face.

They make an agreement to help each other out but what is about to happen will surprise both of them, either not knowing what to do and which is the best decision to take. It's a movie which surprised me with its idea and implementation, but especially with the feelings that it transmits. Don't think that you'll laugh at loud, but it will definitely make your day better, besides putting a smile on your face with almost every occasion. It also has a good dose of drama and romance, just to spice things up and make it even better. Its cast fits perfectly into the scene, managing to transpose you into the picture. It's an excellent comedy which has a quite interesting plot and a very good implementation. It's not much to say about it besides strongly encouraging everyone to see it if you haven't already.

10* Edgar Allan Poe is a writer who's work was never appreciated as much as it should. He's in a poor financial situation unable to ensure a stable place for him and his beloved Emily. A series of murders which took place recently are almost life-like recreations of Poe's work. Because the crime spree is getting more and more out of control, a local detective by the name of Fields turns to Poe for help. Together, they must link together all the pieces of the puzzle left behind by the killer and associate them to Edgar's writings in order to get to the bottom of the case. This movie is a truly wonderful thriller, full of action, puzzling and unexpected events and deep mystery. It managed to keep me fully focused all the way to its end. It is a tragic one unfortunately, but very well chosen for such a movie (although it could have been avoided). The actors really do a great job and the time related decor makes you fell you're part of the plot. I really enjoyed it and I'm sure that so will you! Brilliant!

Together they will unravel secrets from the past which will inevitable affect their future and their love. It's a very tangled story, but in a good way, which features some incredible stuff. I really love how this whole movie was put together, from the plot to its gorgeous special effects. A forbidden love story as it should be in a fantastic but intriguing word full of mystery and suspense. I was a bit disappointed by the finale which although it is what it should be, it isn't as explicit as I hoped. Overall, it truly is a great movie which I recommend with all my heart.

Keeping close contact with their leader, Walter will be forced to do a lot more than to try to overcome his situation and negotiate, getting engaged in a psychological game which sooner or later reaches his personal life. The whole crime will soon prove to be more elaborate than everyone could have ever imagined, the accomplices seeming to have planned almost every single detain in advance. It's a gorgeous thriller, which puts face to face two excellent actors which manage to create a very tense and suspenseful atmosphere which keeps you eager to find out how it is all going to end. Their characters are very well written and presented, contributing decisively to the final quality of the movie, especially Walter's, who is about to have a great evolution, overcoming his fears and even confessing a past mistake he has made. It's how a movie of this type should be done and I cannot encourage everybody enough to see it, especially genre lovers.

Unwilling to give up, as he was during his entire life, Chris is determined to do anything he can to rescue her, as this kind of act was never done before. It's a truly dramatic movie throughout his entirety, even stepping up the pace towards the finale. I find it very had to explain how this movie made me feel, what emotions it transmitted through its characters, landscapes and its fantasy universe. Its happy ending was the tip of the iceberg which left me breathless after dramatically changing the expected course of events. It truly is a drama masterpiece!

It's unexpectedly funny throughout many scenes, while introducing diverse and complex characters, each with its own unique sense of humor. 10* After nearly crashing into an unmanned train coming from the opposite direction, a train conductor and an engineer decide to act on their own an try to stop the railed missile which is speeding towards a very populated city. Their attempt will be as risky as it may be heroic if it succeeds so teamwork is mandatory while putting all differences aside at the same time. A very thrilling movie on how two men ignore orders and try to help in a very difficult situation caused by naivety, incompetence and limitless greed from the highest level. A great movie with trains featuring a very good story inspired from real facts, emotion, thrill and a highly expected happy ending.

Getting there won't be easy though, as earning his place in the race will require a bit more than just driving skills. An unexpectedly good movie which features a gorgeous collection of exotic and muscle cars, an interesting plot, great action, superb scenery and some emotion. I didn't have high expectations regarding this film but I was completely blown away by what it has to offer. The main actors do a really good job with their teamwork while the races and police chases, unaffected by music, just ear nursing engine noise for petrolheads, create a great atmosphere to enjoy. It also has a pretty decent plot which manages to link all the pieces and create this great movie based on the most popular car gaming franchise. A very pleasant surprise which I strongly recommend to anyone who loves cars like I do!

It's a tragic story of a boy who had great expectations from his life but ended up on the streets. His live in the circus is closely presented as harsh as it can be but with its good parts nevertheless. This movie, inspired from real facts, depicts the power of the American intelligence agencies which were spying on people in order to protect them from terrorist attacks, but it all got much deeper than intended. It's a very interesting movie, captivating I must say, which describes in detail the life of Snowden and what happened behind the scenes of the notorious intelligence agencies, who's programs were doing a lot more than invading privacy. It's very well presented, alternating present and past events, very well played by its cast and very well executed overall. A must see for everyone, especially for IT fans.

Once there, he begins a quest of self-discovery, of learning from his mistakes, of understanding the meaning of God and ultimately, of self-healing. Although quite stubborn in his beliefs, the main character's personality, formed after a harsh life and childhood, is entirely displayed with the help of different Godly persons, who are determined to help him heal his inside wounds and thus restart his life. It's a very slow paced movie, with little action but plenty of dialogue, which has a very important message to transmit to the viewer, told in an unique way. This movie has the gift of drawing you into its universe, to almost make you feel the pain of the main character and understand him in his deep sorrow. You really get to care for him and his family and this is an aspect few movies really manage to do. It kept me interested throughout without a single moment of boredom, while together with its complex characters and events, it managed to transmit many emotions, making it a masterpiece of its kind. I cannot recommend it enough only for its message, let alone the plot, music, or art.

Thus, Bill must integrate Joe in his family, buying himself time to fix the remaining problems in his life. It's a lengthy but interesting plot about a man who must keep his integrity while the impersonated death infiltrates into his life and family, threatening him with every move. It's twisted an non linear, maintaining suspense and interest throughout its length, keeping you lusting for the upcoming finale. Its love story brings some needed romance into the picture, completing the wonderful atmosphere transmitted by this film. A very enjoyable movie!

Their new tutor, the evil actor called Count Olaf, is determined to do anything he can to inherit the kids' fortune, disguising his acts as "unfortunate" events. It's a captivating movie, told from an original perspective by Lemony Snicket himself. A great idea being put in practice by "a bunch" of great actors, from the kids to the almighty Count Olaf (superb acting from Jim Carrey). It features an interesting story which keeps your attention all the time, making you wonder every time what will the three brothers do once more to unmask the evil doer. The girl's life is presented in a dramatic manner with her strong emotions, her adventures, her losses and gains. It's tense in a lot of situations due to its harsh conditions, generated mainly by the upcoming war, but it manages to maintain suspense until the end. It's hard to explain in a few words what happens but I can guarantee that it's worth your time especially if you enjoy such movies with kids, which by the way, play some great roles!

Although forced to live a harsh life, Cinderella always remained kind and courageous, in hope of a magical act which might turn her life around. This said, a charming apprentice she meets by accident in the woods might just be what she deserves. This real action remake of the original Disney animation is a wonderful demonstration that it can be done if you keep the story, present it seriously, hire a couple of good actors who know what is to be done and get a bit of help from a very talented animation team. Add to this mix a good soundtrack and you end up with a very good movie by itself. 10* A young and betrayed fairy who turned to the dark side after the terrible incident curses a young princess on her baptism. Watching closely how the princess grew, she begins to have feelings for her but the previous enchantment will prove to be the final frontier in their upcoming relationship. The classic story of Sleeping Beauty is being retold in this movie from the eyes of the "evil" witch, since her childhood and all the way to an unexpected but beautiful finale. It looks gorgeous, its CGI is top notch and its plot is a great surprise. I didn't believe that I would say this but in my opinion it is true. They've managed to improve the original story, in some ways by even drastically changing it, and the result is simply eye-watering. It's a bit more mature way of telling a tale for children but that doesn't make it any less appealing for them than it is for any adult, or for me. A beautiful story which can be enjoyed regardless of age. Superb!

It's a truly emotional film which expresses in a beautiful manner what true love really means and how it feels like. Its story captures you like a charm, making you hope for the best regarding the loving couple. That is exactly why its tragic finale can make you literally cry. It proves in a way that past cannot be changed whatever you try to do and the simple fact of thinking about its unchangeable nature can throw you into depression. It's a story of two teens who fall in love in a summer but by the end of it, are separated by their social positions. Unable to remain in touch, the two continue their lives separate but there always seems that something is missing. It's a dramatic romance which shows what love can do when it is as strong as the one this movie depicts. The youth story is emotional by itself but if you add the one with the elders, it escalates to a whole new level. It can bring to life some serious feelings and for some that will be enough to start crying. After a lonely woman saves the life of a complete stranger, she's mistaken for his fiancé and slowly becomes integrated into his family, due to his coma. As her true identity couldn't be verified by anybody, everything seems to be well, until his brother shows up, whose character is about to play a very important role in the upcoming events. It's a lovely and romantic comedy, set in the heart of the winter holidays, which tells an improbable love story about two complete strangers who fall in love without their will and as much as they try to resist, as closer they eventually become. It creates a warm and enjoyable atmosphere which lasts until the end. The actors play their roles very convincingly, making you care about their characters while keeping you eager to find out what will happen next and how it's going to end. Besides all of the above, it also manages to laugh from time to time, even out loud, just to spice things up a bit. It's a very good movie for everyone to enjoy, especially around the holidays, but not only.

Director: Harold Ramis | Stars: Bill Murray, Andie MacDowell, Chris Elliott, Stephen Tobolowsky

10* Phil is a self centered person, selfish and spoiled, who presents the weather for a local TV station. In addition, he happens to hate Groundhog day, considering it stupid and a complete waste of time. Thus, when he's assigned to broadcast live from the big event, for the fourth consecutive year, he isn't as excited as his new producer would have hoped. There, hoping to be over as soon as possible, Phil enters a loop he cannot escape. He is forced to live the same day over and over again. Although he took it as a curse, he slowly started to enjoy being some sort of god, making whatever he wanted, and not caring about health or death. Not everything was unfortunately as bright as it seemed, getting his hands on the woman he felt for proving to be much harder than expected. It's a very funny movie from every perspective, which is determined, thanks to it's main actor, to do anything to make you have a great time. It's happy and hilarious, while at the same time, presenting an interesting and intelligent plot, which creates an unique atmosphere. It's a brilliant movie, a must see!

10* A corrupt politician, guilty of murder, tries to discredit and ruin the life of a lawyer who accidentally holds the proof of his guilt. Unfortunately for him, his own weapons turn against him once the lawyer receives proper help from a former NSA agent. A very thrilling action movie, highly addictive featuring a very complex plot which will keep you pointed at the screen till the last moment. A great movie!

100. Total Recall (I) (2012)

Director: Len Wiseman | Stars: Colin Farrell, Bokeem Woodbine, Bryan Cranston, Kate Beckinsale

10* In a post-apocalyptic world where civilization is divided in two and linked by a huge elevator which crosses the Earth's center, an ordinary factory worker, living an ordinary life, begins to doubt his own identity after visiting a company which promises to inject memories into one's brain. He soon discovers that he has an impressive history as a spy and some amazing combat skills which he'll have to use in order to help whichever side he decides to join. It's an impressive remake of "Total Recall" from 1990 which featured Arnold Schwarzenegger as main character. I'm delighted to see a classic movie (at least for me) remade using today's technology and actors especially when the results are as good as this film. The actors were surprisingly enjoyable, especially the female antagonist who seems to put quite an effort in her acting and it shows. The whole mind bending plot is on par with the above mentioned, making your confused mind wonder over and over again about which is the truth. My expectations were beaten so I have to admit once again that I was wrong for judging a book by its cover, this movie proving to be one hell of a ride!
