+ Quite a lot of beautifully rendered underwater scenes, especially for a 13-year-old movie.
+ The scene where Marlin & Dory meet the sharks was well-written and quite funny.
+ Dory & Crush the sea-turtle gave the most laughs throughout, so huge props to them.
+ Having “Beyond the Sea” as the end credits song was perfect and it made me want to play BioShock again.
- I wasn’t a fan of the exaggerated Aussie accent they gave Bruce the shark; it’s one of the reasons I don’t like Australian movies a whole lot.

+ Loved the 1950s setting all-round. The opening shot of the town with ‘Mr. Sandman’ playing over top felt like Back to the Future.
+ Great alien character designs & the artistic style looked smooth overall.
+ Interesting take on the alien invasion plot by using role reversal.
+ Great use of references to other pop-culture movies and media. Though, this could also be seen as a lazy attempt at cashing in on other movies’ success.
- I noticed in one scene where Lem is trying to ask out Neera in the backyard, you can see Lem’s parents standing still in the background facing the fence. They could’ve at least moved their arms or something to signify that they’re talking to their next door neighbours. Lazy.
- I feel like a lot of the voices didn’t exactly match up with the mouth movements perfectly. Maybe it was just the way the characters were modelled or something; it just looked off.
