The moves in this set are remakes or different adaptations of the Dickens story but I enjoy each of them for who plays Scrooge and the way the movie is written.

Votes: 202,484 | Gross: $51.08M

This was the third of a franchise after Dr. No and From Russia With Love that has gone for 53 years and shows no sign of running out of gas. Like the series Doctor Who, each Bond has to get what the character is about and then put his own stamp on it. It goes without saying that Sean Connery established the standard that the others have had to channel but still become his own James Bond. I will not attempt to rank the Bonds but after Sean Connery, I feel Pierce Bosnan and Roger Moore (RIP), Daniel Craig come in as 2, 3, and 4. By the way, with no disrespect to the master (Sean Connery), Barry Nelson played James Bond in 1954 on the TV series Climax. I saw this episode and it is impossible to cram a James Bond episode int 30 minutes on live TV but Mr. Nelson gave it his best. The late Mr. Nelson acknowledged willingly that Sean Connery was the first real James Bond.

18. K-9 (1989)

PG-13 | 101 min | Action, Comedy, Crime

44 Metascore

To stop an elusive criminal, a maverick detective enlists the aid of a police dog who's an unusually intelligent smart alec.

Director: Rod Daniel | Stars: Jim Belushi, Mel Harris, Kevin Tighe, Ed O'Neill

Votes: 35,602 | Gross: $43.25M

One of the funniest franchises that I like to watch. It is like this part was written for James Belushi. Of course,"Jerry Lee" steals every scene. Mr. Belushi is a rare actor that he is secure enough to act with animals. A lot of actors don't like to act with children and animals simply for the reason that I just explained that when this happen, the actor often becomes invisible when a child or animal is in the scene.

19. The Fast and the Furious (2001)

PG-13 | 106 min | Action, Crime, Thriller

58 Metascore

Los Angeles police officer Brian O'Conner must decide where his loyalty really lies when he becomes enamored with the street racing world he has been sent undercover to destroy.

Director: Rob Cohen | Stars: Vin Diesel, Paul Walker, Michelle Rodriguez, Jordana Brewster

Votes: 419,322 | Gross: $144.53M

Except for James Bond, this has got to be the most successful movie franchise in modern times. The way it is designed, it provides flexibility for the actors in that ever one of them does not need to be in every program. The Expendables has the same formula. It was tragic that Paul Walker passed and I had not seen much of his work before his passing but I see that he was on his way to the top. Since losing him, I have watched all of these and his other work and He is another actor that we lost too soon. It is clear in this franchise that they like working together or it would not be as successful as it is. Rest in peace, Mr. Walker.

20. The Most Dangerous Game (1932)

PG-13 | 63 min | Action, Adventure, Horror

A psychotic big game hunter deliberately strands a luxury yacht on a remote island, where he begins to hunt its passengers for sport.

Directors: Irving Pichel, Ernest B. Schoedsack | Stars: Joel McCrea, Fay Wray, Leslie Banks, Robert Armstrong

Votes: 14,006 | Gross: $0.97M

This movie was made in 1932 starring Joel McRae and Faye Wray from a short story written by Russell Connell. I read it in English Literature in the 11th Grade and have never forgotten it. Like the Scrooge movies, this had been remade numerous times with the same basic plot but shown from different angles. I have tried to watch every remake of it that I can find and was only disappointed in a couple of the efforts. The one from 1832 still holds well 85 years later.

21. Taken (2017–2018)

TV-14 | 41 min | Action, Drama, Thriller

As former CIA agent Bryan Mills deals with a personal tragedy that shakes his world, he fights to overcome the incident and exact revenge.

Stars: Clive Standen, Jennifer Beals, Adam Goldberg, Jessica Camacho

Votes: 11,709

Liam Neeson is one of the best action actors in the business. I hope they keep making Taken movies since the TV series does not reflect on the movies. This franchise is Neeson's for as long as he wants it.. Some movies do not lend themselves to make a TV series and I feel this is one of them. Good job Mr. Neeson and the rest of the crew.

22. Mission: Impossible - Fallout (2018)

PG-13 | 147 min | Action, Adventure, Thriller

87 Metascore

Ethan Hunt and his IMF team, along with some familiar allies, race against time after a mission gone wrong.

Director: Christopher McQuarrie | Stars: Tom Cruise, Henry Cavill, Ving Rhames, Simon Pegg

Votes: 377,965 | Gross: $220.16M

This is the latest in a fantastic franchise that Tom Cruise has be making since the 90's and he and it have not gotten stale. I was a fan of the TV series in the 60's and the first episode picked up where the series left off including the character of Jim Phelps played by Jon Voight as a nod to the now late Peter Graves. I read some that Peter Graves wanted to have a small part it it but it did not happen. A salute to Tom Cruise and the rest of the crew for a job well done.

23. Jack Reacher (2012)

PG-13 | 130 min | Action, Mystery, Thriller

50 Metascore

A homicide investigator digs deeper into a case involving a trained military sniper responsible for a mass shooting.

Director: Christopher McQuarrie | Stars: Tom Cruise, Rosamund Pike, Richard Jenkins, Werner Herzog

Votes: 364,922 | Gross: $80.07M

It looks like Tom Cruise has had success with two franchise projects that he started from the beginning. I haven't seen a third Reacher yet but hope he gets to make one. I do appreciate that he works himself to the limit with this and the Mission Impossible Franchise and as a good actor, he must do other parts so he does not get typecast. Hope he can pace himself and keep it up as long as he wants to. Not to throw water on it but it is too bad that his attempt to revive the Mummy franchise did not work out but sometimes you can't win them all. Good job to Mr. Cruise and the rest.
