Tom Hooper: 10 Great Films by 10 Great Directors That Inspired Me as a Teenager4 of 10
The Seventh Seal by Ingmar Bergman
I was introduced to Bergman thanks to Derek Malcolm on his BBC series, "Film Club." This film had a big influence on me and led me to explore The Virgin Spring and other great Bergman works. It's an extraordinary allegorical meditation on life, mortality, and redemption that has also inspired some great comic rip-offs! Bergman's Scandinavian visuals were in my thoughts when I directed the Copenhagen section of The Danish Girl.
