Tarzan and Jane Porter are the main couple of "Tarzan". Tarzan is a young man who was raised by gorillas since early infancy after his parents were killed by the leopard, Sabor, and knows very little of the outside world while Jane is a proper young educated woman from England.
Tarzan and Jane first met when Jane and her father traveled to Africa to study gorillas and Tarzan began to obverse them, fascinated about meeting other people just him for the first time in his life. Tarzan later rescued Jane after she found herself separated from her father and their guide, Clayton and was attacked by mandrills. Tarzan and Jane quickly developed a connection between them. Tarzan later began to visit Jane at her camp where she along with her father and Clayton began to educate Tarzan about the world and hoped he would lead them to the gorillas to further their research.
During this time, Tarzan and Jane grew closer with Tarzan learning about civilisation and Jane seeing the beauty of the jungle. Tarzan and Jane soon realized they had fallen in love with each other. However, they soon found themselves in a complicated and difficult situation since Jane had to return to England with their time in Africa almost at an end. Both Tarzan and Jane wanted to remain together, but both were conflicted with Tarzan wanting Jane to stay in Africa while Jane couldn’t bear to leave her home and father and wished for Tarzan to return to England with them. With persuasion from Clayton, Tarzan brought Jane and the others to his gorilla family in hopes Jane would stay, but Jane could still not bear to leave and the situation worsened when Kercheck, the leader of the gorillas and Tarzan’s adoptive father arrived, resulting in a fight between him and Tarzan.
Eventually after learning the truth about his paternity from his adoptive mother, Kala, Tarzan decided to leave Africa and return to England with Jane. However, they later discovered Clayton had been deceiving them and intends to capture and sell the gorillas. With help from Terk and Tantor, Tarzan and the others escaped and battled against Clayton, ending in their victory, but at the cost of Kercheck’s life. With the death of Kercheck, Tarzan became the new leader of the gorillas, meaning he had to stay in Africa and said goodbye to Jane. However, by the end of the film, with her father’s blessings, Jane decided to stay in Africa and be with Tarzan, reuniting the couple and happily enjoying their new lives in the jungle.
In "The Legend of Tarzan", Tarzan and Jane continue their life in the jungle as a happily married couple. Tarzan and Jane have a strong and stable marriage which grows stronger as the series progresses with Tarzan continuing to learn more about the world outside of Africa and Jane growing more accustomed to her newfound jungle life. Although they still face a few difficulties with Jane sometimes missing England or in the form of a love rival such as Queen La or Robert Candler, the love between Tarzan and Jane never waivers and it only grows more stronger with overcoming each obstacle. The series ends with Tarzan and Jane celebrating their one year anniversary of marriage.
