#6 – The Gypsy and the Hobo: Season 3, Episode 11
January Jones often gets the short stick when it comes to giving kudos to the Mad Men cast -- viewers are often polarized by her portrayal of the icy Betty Draper -- but Jones earned a well-deserved Emmy nomination during the third season of the show. Slowly deconstructing the lies surrounding Don's true identity, in this episode Betty fiercely confronts Don with the truth that he longed to hide from everyone, breaking down a man who once seemed omnipotent and indestructible, and Jones more than holds her own against the perennially-praised Jon Hamm. This hour also features one of the best closing lines of a Mad Men episode, as Don takes kids Sally and Bobby trick-or-treating (dressed up as the episode’s titular characters) and is offhandedly asked by his neighbor, citing his lack of costume, "Who are you supposed to be?"
