#1: Amour
My favorite of all the movies is Michael Haneke's Amour. It was shot with such extraordinary simplicity. The camera barely moved. But you were just riveted by the performances. It's brutally depressing but you get beyond it. Unsentimental. Avoided all those pitfalls yet was so moving. I went to dinner with Jean-Louis Trintignant and I don't think I've ever been so bewitched by an actor in my life. Although in his eighties, he was like a wicked child.
