#5: Sleepwalk With Me
Mike Birbiglia plays a wannabe stand-up comic who probably shouldn't. He sucks. Bad. But he also wants it. Bad. So he keeps working at it and finds, miraculously, that the worse things get in his real life -- including a bout of sleepwalking that sends him crashing through a hotel window “like The Hulk” -- the funnier his stories get onstage. Birbiglia adapted this movie from his own stand-up act (which, of course, is adapted from his own life) and co-wrote and directed the film. It’s not a perfect movie, but I love its rough edges, which are nowhere near as jagged as the shattered frame of that hotel window.
