Fans of the white hat/black hat Western should likely stay away from Tommy Lee Jones's The Homesman. It's a hardscrabble tale of misery in the Old West that is both unpleasantly real and yet also unpleasantly steeped in the world of movies. It is a sad enervating road trip.
Jones plays a drifter who ends up indebted to a woman who has volunteered to take three mentally imbalanced women to a Methodist Missionary back East
