I used to like Batman as a kid and watching it again on my 30th birthday I gained a further appreciation of the movie and it's now my favourite Batman movie of all time. Michael Keaton is my favourite Batman, and Jack Nicholson made an awesome Joker.

2. Batman Returns (1992)

While Batman deals with a deformed man calling himself the Penguin wreaking havoc across Gotham with the help of a cruel businessman, a female employee of the latter becomes the Catwoman with her own vendetta.

Votes: 281,209 | Gross: $162.83M

Another childhood favourite. Great story and great villains. This was a big deal watching this as a kid given it was M rated. I'm surprised McDonald's promoted this movie.

After training with his mentor, Batman begins his fight to free crime-ridden Gotham City from corruption.

Christopher Nolan and Christian Bale breathe new life into the Batman franchise and erases the bad memories of Batman and Robin.

The best Batman movie in the Dark Knight trilogy.

Eight years after the Joker's reign of anarchy, Batman, with the help of the enigmatic Catwoman, is forced from his exile to save Gotham City from the brutal guerrilla terrorist Bane.

Director: Christopher Nolan | Stars: Christian Bale, Tom Hardy, Anne Hathaway, Gary Oldman

Votes: 1,558,319 | Gross: $448.14M

Most movies in a trilogy don't live up to the hype, but The Dark Knight Rises was a top movie.

6. Batman Forever (1995)

PG-13 | 121 min | Action, Adventure

51 Metascore

Batman must battle former district attorney Harvey Dent, who is now Two-Face and Edward Nygma, The Riddler with help from an amorous psychologist and a young circus acrobat who becomes his sidekick, Robin.

Director: Joel Schumacher | Stars: Val Kilmer, Tommy Lee Jones, Jim Carrey, Nicole Kidman

Votes: 238,942 | Gross: $184.03M

Good but not great. I liked Val Kilmer as Batman and Chris O Donnell as Robin. Jim Carrey and Tommy Lee Jones were far too camp as villains.

7. Batman: The Movie (1966)

PG | 105 min | Adventure, Comedy, Crime

71 Metascore

The Dynamic Duo faces four supervillains who plan to hold the world for ransom with the help of a secret invention that instantly dehydrates people.

Director: Leslie H. Martinson | Stars: Adam West, Burt Ward, Lee Meriwether, Cesar Romero

Votes: 30,436

I liked this movie as a little kid. I even liked the TV show as a little kid. It's camp and very corny, but at least it's way better than Batman and Robin which I will sink the boot into below...

8. Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice (2016)

PG-13 | 152 min | Action, Adventure, Sci-Fi

44 Metascore

Fearing that the actions of Superman are left unchecked, Batman takes on the Man of Steel, while the world wrestles with what kind of a hero it really needs.

Director: Zack Snyder | Stars: Ben Affleck, Henry Cavill, Amy Adams, Jesse Eisenberg

Votes: 655,789 | Gross: $330.36M

Like it or hate it, it's still enjoyable. Ben Affleck did well as the caped crusader but I don't necessarily rate him that high.

9. Justice League (2017)

PG-13 | 120 min | Action, Adventure, Fantasy

45 Metascore

Fueled by his restored faith in humanity and inspired by Superman's selfless act, Bruce Wayne enlists the help of his new-found ally, Diana Prince, to face an even greater enemy.

Director: Zack Snyder | Stars: Ben Affleck, Gal Gadot, Jason Momoa, Ezra Miller

Votes: 418,806 | Gross: $229.02M

The movie was a disappointment. No wonder it didn't do too well at the box office and failed to live up to all the hype.

10. Batman & Robin (1997)

PG-13 | 125 min | Action, Sci-Fi

28 Metascore

Batman and Robin try to keep their relationship together even as they must stop Mr. Freeze and Poison Ivy from freezing Gotham City.

Director: Joel Schumacher | Stars: Arnold Schwarzenegger, George Clooney, Chris O'Donnell, Uma Thurman

Votes: 238,555 | Gross: $107.33M

The worst Batman movie in history. The worst sequel in movie history. Also one of the worst movies in history. George Clooney did not make a good Batman. They could have chosen ANYONE but Arnold Schwarzenegger as Mr Freeze. The entire screenplay was poor. The only redeeming feature was the Smashing Pumpkins song The end is the beginning is the end. I liked that song as a 13 year old.
