This one is so fun, so 90's. More on point than some of the 80's ones, the characters are well-rounded and each scene has something that hits the mark. Seth Green is amazing. Great all round cast apart from Jennifer Love Hewitt whos like a block of wood.

Votes: 49,321 | Gross: $10.30M
John Cusack, the king of 80's teen movies. Curtis Armstrong should be in every movie ever. A fun weird movie, messy and scattered in places but with some great ideas. Once you get used to the weird dream like style its pretty good. The Ski-ing section at the end is better filmed and stunted than most James Bond films.

Votes: 16,730 | Gross: $13.43M
Same Director as Better off Dead, so it has the same weird style. Bobcat Goldthwaite is a win, Cusack is a win. Story is a little inconsequential, not as strong as other 80s teen offerings but still fun.

Director: Michael Dinner | Stars: Donald Sutherland, Andrew McCarthy, John Heard, Mary Stuart Masterson
Votes: 4,979 | Gross: $6.07M
One of the best written in the list. A very watchable tale of a group of teens at a strict Catholic school. Andrew McCarthy is cool as the lead but it's Kevin Dillon's film. He has the best lines and attitude in a fun to watch an asshole kinda way.
30. House Party (1990)

Votes: 37,701 | Gross: $13.00M
Revenge of the Nerds without the rapey bits. Val Kilmer rules the show, the main kid is likeable but a bit of a blank slate. Pretty fun and a great ending. A little messy in the middle where they edited some dialogue scenes into a music montage and they react with each other as if we watched those scenes with dialogue.

Votes: 11,640 | Gross: $3.10M
Pretty good teenagers on the run from the law movie. Helen Slater, Keith Gordon, a young Christian Slater and the voice of Lisa Simpson do a good job.
36. The Last American Virgin (1982)

Director: Boaz Davidson | Stars: Lawrence Monoson, Diane Franklin, Steve Antin, Joe Rubbo
Votes: 9,759 | Gross: $5.83M
The 1st and 2nd half are two very different films. The first half the protagonist is a precocious, sensitive, shy but fun guy. The second half he becomes an obsessed, creepy, stalker and it becomes life lesson for young men. Dudes, do not be that 2nd half guy. Its a crass sex comedy that tries to tell a story (successfully?), fun in some parts, very dated in most. Worth a watch just to watch it.

Director: Howard Deutch | Stars: Eric Stoltz, Mary Stuart Masterson, Lea Thompson, Craig Sheffer
Votes: 34,608 | Gross: $18.55M
I liked the performances, good characters, the film making was top notch with nice camera movements and cinematography. I didnt care for Leah Thompson, she was perfect for Back to the Future but in other 80s films I find her acting poor. The story is ok but some of the writing is way off. Stoltz tries to buy the love of a girl, and blows his college funds. Throws his future away basically, his dad warns him and Stoltz assures him he's got it all figured out. So we assume he's a smart kid and has something up his sleeve like he's going to invest. Nope, he buys an expensive ring then when things dont work out with girl #1 he gives it a to girl #2 who doesnt care about expensive gifts, loves him for who he is and accepts this college fund ring. I was hoping he would invest in a small art gallery for girl #2 and the final shot would be him playing his drums in the empty space while she arts up the blank walls. What a dummy.

Votes: 130,906 | Gross: $22.68M
Take the first 20 minutes from Superbad. Fast talkin' joke, joke, joke attempt. Stretch that out for the full run time with barely anytime to breath between jokes and no memorable set pieces.

Votes: 5,920 | Gross: $9.40M
Total 80s nostalgia trip. I really liked this one. James Spader in the good guy role for a change was cool and Robert Downey Jr. is always a joy to watch. I liked the new kid in town story, which had a lot of added depth. The 80s synth soundtrack and live musical performances were also very good.
49. Mischief (1985)

Votes: 7,023 | Gross: $8.69M
Nice enough. Good characters and a decent story. Not enough to push it to the top of any lists but a well spent hour and half. Kelly Preston is always good.

Director: Linda Feferman | Stars: Jennifer Connelly, Byron Thames, Maddie Corman, Alan Boyce
Votes: 2,060 | Gross: $0.03M
Jennifer Connelly is so young in this, the whole film rests on three very young actors who do a great job. Can't believe all the main 3 characters were around 15 years old when this was filmed. You just don't get that today. Back in the 80s they were making tons of films with teenagers or young adults in the lead roles carrying a whole movie on their back. A more mature story about growing up, as well as being a light hearted teen. Byron Thames, and Maddie Corman a brilliant. Maddie has the best character, and most interesting story. Only downside is the music is so cheap, instead of the pop hits of the time, they cheap out with a TV show house band
