Dying Laughing
Stand-up comics are constant objects of our fascination and admiration, and it's hard not to see why, especially given the current cultural climate, where everyone could use a good laugh to take the edge off the more weighty issues of the day. But, even with that abiding interest in and appreciation for the valuable work that stand-up comedians do, there's amazingly very little we actually understand about the "what" and "how" of comedians' craft. And this cast of very familiar comedic faces helps to shed a little more light on a profession that may always remain enigmatic and motivated, even when the laughs don't come as frequently as they would like. — Bret
