"The Flash": Interview With Writer Todd Helbing2 of 10
IMDb: What got you creatively energized about undertaking the "Flashpoint" timeline?
Todd Helbing: Well, I think we had such a fun time and success with "Earth Two" last year, and getting to see our cast, who are just insanely talented, be able to play slightly different versions of themselves, it really fed this drive to do that again.
To be able to do that with "Flashpoint," we knew when we broke Season 2 that we were going to drive to "Flashpoint." That was one of the first things [we decided], so I think not only creatively with our cast and from a storytelling standpoint, but also to pay homage to one of the most seminal comic book stories.
We felt like this was not only the right time to do it, but it would satisfy us in a way that we haven’t been able to. It’s like, every time we start a season, we want to do something a little bit different. To literally do that, to have everybody but Barry be a little bit different, it was a great opportunity.
