This movie delivers, every time. It was made to have a dark atmosphere which at points, in the beginning, is a tad depressing. Figuring out the deadly sin and which one will come next is suspenseful. Kevin Spacey is crazy good as a crazy man unfortunately too much so by the ending. ☠☢ As every list would mention, the emaciated man lying on the bed under a cloud of Christmas tree car scents. When he coughs, it isn't just the officer that recoils. Full on view of him whipping his head back and forth puts you right there. ☠☢ Brad Pitt going back and forth between the decision to shoot Kevin Spacey is tense. And then bam! cos you really didn't think Morgan Freeman would let it happen. SYFY20161001

The movie starts out and ends with the family who has the field of corn with the scarecrows. I was glad they didn't make any big changes to any previous character from the first movie. I hate when that happens. The kids on the bus seemed like another take on the "teens in a cabin" storyline. But the monster is awesome - no shying away from showing his ugly mug multiple times. ☠ The monster's toes moving at the beginning especially, but also at the end. Creepy. ☠ Every time the monster swoops so quick up and away - love it. ☠ Showing the monster full-on. This works because it is a good monster (scary, ugly, repulsive). Great SFX. SYFY20161001

This movie started out promising and went dry and then in way too many directions. The burned out prison would have been more effective as a blackened building. Kane had some great SFX fire moments but never became a real horror. By the end, I felt like it was trying to make a play on Rosemary's Baby. Non-scary stuff I shouldn't like: Calvin. Maybe he reminds me of real life, I don't know - he's funny in a ridiculous way. This movie is cheesy, but it has enough of a story line and tries to stay with it. The characters have silly personalities, but likable and human. Too bad Gracie loses the creep factor at the end. This follows a ton of video camera movies, but in this one that aspect adds a little and isn't bothersome. ☠ The creepy little girl hunkered down in the hallway. ☢ Rules: Never ask a spirit how it died. A strange get together movie including a man and woman who's child died. The interactions between the guests and the hosts are entertaining for a while but the flashbacks don't add much. Will wandering around half the party is weird and doesn't make much sense. But he does figure out something is going on. A group of people is brought together by a rich man to play a sadistic game to make money. Each has a different reason for needing the money, but one - Iris is playing for her sick brother to get a donor so he can live. The game starts out trivial making one member who was an alcoholic drink and Iris, a vegetarian to eat meat. But it quickly gets serious, as in life or death. ☠ When a dare is the firecracker, what happens. ☠ The ending when Iris gets home and sees her brother. NETFLIX20161007

Based on the story by Richard Mathieson. Hokey in parts, but the atmosphere and the story of Balasco builds the creep factor. Kids on a ski trip seek shelter in an asylum inhabited by the cannibals. The scary scenes were ho-hum, not much jump in these kids. ☠ Stupid guy grabbing the gf's feet when she is being strangled by barbed-wire. Kids filming a documentary about the "Suicide Forest". The mother of one of them committed suicide there. Very quickly after entering the forest things get weird. I loved the atmosphere of the forest, but I didn't get the feeling that it was in a foreign country even though they used so much language. It was weird when they used Japanese and then not. ☠ The running "hanged man" until he was revealed as a prank. SYFY20161008

A single mother trying to get through each day with her strange little boy. Then a weird book literally pops up and things go from bad to worse. The kid who plays Samuel is an awesome actor. And creepy. I love this movie and I love saying "Babadook" (I know, weird). And the screaming fights between him and the mom at the beginning are hilarious. Elliott is a guy who gets fired and then drawn into a game for money. A high stakes game that is 13 challenges- we aren't talking poker here. It's bizarre some of the stuff he does pretty quickly just for money. Elliott's dad is #onetwistedsister and his brother is a bit smarter than he has acted, right?! A family starts having strange happenings in their home with the youngest boy the most affected. Sweet the way the boys communicate by walkie-talkie every night. Follow-up movie in a theater with kids winning a weekend in the theater. Calvin's new girlfriend isn't as fun or funny - is he losing his touch? I guess I actually liked all the characters in the first movie, even though it was all cheesy. This one - not so much.... And the story is even worse.
