You will note that my chief criteria is "credible characters in incredible circumstances". Whereas most critics value technical perfection, that is low on my list. You will see that my films are higher instead in characters who are identifiable, believable, and definitely motivated more than most critics like. Character, plot, writing, and inspiration are the chief criteria for me. True, I have mostly positive films, but also many films about losing struggles. I'm not the complete optimist. I just seem that way compared to the usual critic. I will add number 401-500 soon, as the "honorable mentions" are usually fun views.
