RavenGlamDVDCollector's Acquisitions Chart (4) Reject Bin

by RavenGlamDVDCollector | created - 19 Nov 2016 | updated - 21 Jan 2017 | Public

About this list: The original used to be on my cellphone. Deleted by factory reset. A back-up version on another cellphone. Because I e-mailed my memo pad in a last ditch effort to save my info, but it went through as a truncated call, so It is not in the same class, with lots of names after the cut-off point, somewhere in the Ts, lost. Hopefully such a disaster will now never happen again. Yeah, until I lose my e-mail address and have to re-register at IMDb, perish the thought.

No Reject will be an official ~REJECT~ without a proper cause duly given in a memorable way. SInce info was lost, all Rejects are granted to be re-evaluated. Some titles get a less damning indictment stamped across their entry here, depending on merit. For all placed on this list prior to November 2016, without any ~~ slash, movie is still being researched again.

take note: Filed under their IMDb title if I know them first and foremost by another name, e.g. your KILLER WORKOUT will always be AEROBICIDE to me.

Several movies couldn't be found for inclusion on this list: ABDUCTION OF AN AMERICAN PLAYGIRL, tt3385622, could not be added, the search function here couldn't find it, neither could its relation WINTER HEAT, tt0129623, be located here, so they get their blacklisting right here. THE BEAUTIFUL BEAST, tt3214448 is another, and something called COMIC COSPLAY THE MOVIE which I'm beginning to think is not a real movie at all.

1. 17 Again (2009)

PG-13 | 102 min | Comedy, Drama, Fantasy

48 Metascore

Director: Burr Steers | Stars: Zac Efron, Matthew Perry, Leslie Mann, Thomas Lennon

Votes: 216,257 | Gross: $64.17M

This one needs attention, it's been buried here ever since I checked out on Wikipedia's plotline that Michelle Trachtenberg's part sounds way minor. Admittedly, that was pretty shallow research.

2. 2 Broke Girls (2011–2017)

TV-14 | 22 min | Comedy

Two young women waitressing at a greasy spoon diner strike up an unlikely friendship in the hopes of launching a successful business - if only they can raise the cash.

Stars: Kat Dennings, Beth Behrs, Garrett Morris, Jonathan Kite

Votes: 104,812

This name kept popping up everywhere, and I thought, sounds like my kinda thing. Then one day researched on IMDb, and found so many reviewers who despised it, I am convinced I should just back off. The characters sound kinda common, and lots of people describe it as what boils down to crude humour that isn't funny at all.

3. Love Is the Drug (2006)

R | 96 min | Drama

Scholarship student Jonah struggles considerably to make friends at his wealthy private school. As graduation draws near, Jonah grows infatuated with Sara Weller, a wealthy drug user and part of an elite social group at school.

Director: Elliott Lester | Stars: John Patrick Amedori, Lizzy Caplan, D.J. Cotrona, Jenny Wade

Votes: 808

ADDICTED TO HER LOVE to me. Although my fascination with it was very short-lived.

Stumbled across ADDICTED TO HER LOVE on a seller site, the image looked promising, I thought it was gonna be one of those big must-haves, then, curious, downloaded the trailer. And was real bummed.

4. Killer Workout (1987)

Director: David A. Prior | Stars: Marcia Karr, David Campbell, Fritz Matthews, Ted Prior

Votes: 2,730

~REJECTED~

AEROBICIDE to me. Am I the only guy who can spell that?

This picture is the epitome of low-class taste, and I'm ashamed of it ever having crossed my path. It is beneath contempt. Yet I will keep the little download-to-DVD disc I had somebody make for me, not that I would watch the poor quality shoddy results ever again, 'cause this movie is, like, the pits, just in case I haven't mentioned yet, but I suppose I have. Just one more thing: Avoid it like the plague. And girlfriends, find this s*** as a treasured possession at your boyfriend's place, dump him, the dumb goof!

Director: Charles Shyer | Stars: Hilary Swank, Simon Baker, Jonathan Pryce, Adrien Brody

Votes: 5,595 | Gross: $0.43M

Well remember my original comment. “Hilary looks weird on the poster. Trust your instincts.” The image here is even worse, looks like a grim old beast, no, I don't want to see Hilary like this. Okay, I know nothing about this movie, but I instantly back off.

7. All About My Mother (1999)

Directors: Joe Dante, Carl Gottlieb, Peter Horton, John Landis, Robert K. Weiss | Stars: Rosanna Arquette, Michelle Pfeiffer, Arsenio Hall, Donald F. Muhich

Votes: 12,634 | Gross: $0.55M

Yeah, I'd want to see that bit with Michelle Pfeiffer that I've only read about, and the bit that I have downloaded with Rosanna Arquette, that's good, but from what's further on the menu, give this one a wide berth.

Director: Jean-Claude Brisseau | Stars: Carole Brana, Arnaud Binard, Nadia Chibani, Lise Bellynck

Votes: 2,328

Some French movie with a nice leggy black & white poster that looked just like a pantyhose ad, I'm a sucker for such things, but if I remember correctly, one version of available DVD didn't have that image, only the exorbitantly expensive one... I will have to find out. It's not about the movie itself at all. So I would be setting myself up for a fall.

{immediately after pondering about how this French title should be alphabetized, searched for this at Raru, R345 for the 'pantyhose ad' version, at least not as bad as when I first encountered it at nasty shark WantItAll, and cheaper versions available, but I am all about the 'pantyhose ad' so that will have to be it, movie now goes to Research List, 2016/11/30, 8:15:52 AM}

This movie's trailer, the warnings come zipping up like white lines down the middle of the road coming at you at 150 km/h, so put your foot down on the accelerator in the opposite direction away from this car wreck, for even the prospect of 'young Heather Graham' is not a good idea, she's made a fool of. This is a movie that is hardly likely to be contained in the Reject Bin. An interest has resurfaced since seeing prone figures in SLEEPING BEAUTY. It is currently on the Wish List at Raru, twice, for the more easily affordable version doesn't have the attractive cover shown here. The desired one is a bit of a bite.

This movie features objectionable close-ups of the scatological kind. The debasement of humanity lies in the theme. It is considered to be the worst of its kind. It is unlikely to be any real fun to watch. It might well turn out to be something I hate. Yet, I have to see it.

Exactly what caused me to reject it, is forgotten. It's notoriety will keep fueling it in my mind.

It actually belongs on the Research List now, but its presence here serves to remind that I once did the right thing, I'm almost sure of that.
