Oscars: Last Year's Most Unforgettable Moments6 of 13
Political statements during acceptance speeches are generally frowned upon, but Patricia Arquette has already won our hearts with her performance in Boyhood.
So when she won the Oscar for Best Supporting Actress, she used her considerable cachet to give a shout-out to the causes she supports.
Arquette even won applause from Meryl Streep when ended her speech with, "To every woman who gave birth, to every taxpayer and citizen of this nation, we have fought for everybody else's equal rights. It's our time to have wage equality once and for all, and equal rights for women in the United States of America."
Who was going to play off America's favorite mom? Nobody. Well done, Patricia.
