History 2, 1607-1920

by LakesideScott | created - 16 Feb 2015 | updated - 6 months ago | Public

These are movies based on historical, or pseudo-historical, events or people. Most are fictionalized historical dramas with some documentaries thrown in. The majority are probably only partially accurate, historically, at best.

Some period pieces, especially Oscar winners and classic works of literature when appropriate, are added as general cultural reference points for the time period.

List order is chronological by setting of the latest date in the film.

This list starts with the Enlightenment and the early settlement by Europeans of the "New World" and runs up to the signing of the Treaty of Versailles after World War I.
