Now that the idea of Penny returning to acting has been tossed into the story, giving rise to Leonard's discomfort with her higher salary, it'll be interesting to see whether the writers will make her successful at her second try at an acting career. Economic disparity in couples is one thing, but adding fame to the mix could create even more interesting conflicts to play with.

13. The Red Road (2014–2015)

Though Ragnar's conquests have been thrilling, viewing him wrestle with defeat this season has allowed the cast to explore more emotional complexity and range in their performances. His losses may not be a welcome development to him, but it has made for scintillating viewing.
