Aliens
The epic space series, started small. The original movie, 1979’s [Link=tt0078748]Alien[/link] took place almost entirely on a single spaceship, with a crew battling a single terrifying alien that killed by attaching itself to a human’s face. Ridley Scott’s claustrophobia-inducing direction emphasized the impossibility of escape. The second film, 1986’s Aliens, directed by James Cameron, expanded the scope, with astronaut Ripley (Sigourney Weaver) battling multiple aliens in a space colony. 1992’s Alien 3, David Fincher’s debut, found Ripley on a prison planet, further upping the ante The film ended with Ripley killing herself after realizing that an alien embryo was gestating inside her. That seemed like the end of the series but 1997’s Alien: Resurrection brought her back to life via cloning, and further expanded the universe, with multiple spaceships and an alien nest.
