Every Major Actor Confirmed to Appear in MCU Phase Four and Beyond

by TrekFan1 | created - 17 Sep 2020 | updated - 03 May 2022 | Public

A list of all the noteworthy performers confirmed to appear, or who have appeared, in at least one project that's part of the current and upcoming phases of the Marvel Cinematic Universe. By noteworthy, I mean they either are well-known, are expected to have a significant role in their respective project(s), are reprising a role from the previous phases, or any combination of the above.

Marvel's current plans have Phase Four consisting of eleven films -- Black Widow, Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings, Eternals, Spider-Man: No Way Home, Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness, Thor: Love and Thunder, Black Panther: Wakanda Forever, The Marvels, Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3, Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania, and Fantastic Four -- as well as the Disney+ shows WandaVision,' The Falcon and the Winter Soldier, Loki, What If...?, Hawkeye, She-Hulk, Moon Knight, Secret Invasion, Ironheart, Echo and Armor Wars. There's also The Guardians of the Galaxy Holiday Special, which has been announced as being part of Phase Four and MCU canon.

Currently slated for Phase Five are Blade, Deadpool 3, the series Agatha: House of Harkness, and an untitled Wakanda series, though there is a possibility Blade may be bumped up to Phase Four. Marvel is also believed to have MCU-set X-Men projects in the early stages of development, presumably for Phase Five.

Actors rumored to be up for roles in these films but are not yet confirmed include: Peter Dinklage and Idris Elba (widely expected to reprise their respective roles role as Eitri and Heimdall in Thor: Love and Thunder); Isla Fisher and Jodie Comer (also believed to be appearing in Thor: Love and Thunder, with Comer playing Thor's lost sister, Angela); Lady Gaga (rumored to be the top choice to provide the voice of Lady Lylla in Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3); Peter Capaldi (supposedly being looked at for a role, possibly the High Evolutionary in GofGv3); John Krasinski and Emily Blunt (rumored to be the top choices for Reed "Mr. Fantastic" Richards and Susan "Invisible Woman" Richards in the planned Fantastic Four film); David Tennant (long rumored to be up for the role of Nightmare in Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness); Liv Tyler (may return to the role of Betty Ross for the She-Hulk series); Adrianne Palicki (supposedly reprising her Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. role as Bobbi "Mockingbird" Morse in the Hawkeye series); Chloe Bennet and Elizabeth Henstridge (possibly reprising their respective Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. roles as Daisy Johnson and Jemma Simmons in Secret Invasion), Giancarlo Esposito (says joining the MCU is "likely the next step" in his career, with most prevalent rumor suggesting he's being eyed to play Professor X).

Please note that after the sudden tragic passing of Black Panther star Chadwick Boseman, everything about the developing Black Panther sequel has been in flux. While it is currently unclear what shape the sequel will take, filming is currently underway and it has been confirmed that Boseman's character of T'Challa will *not* be recast. Lupita Nyong'o, Danai Gurira, Martin Freeman, Letitia Wright, Winston Duke, Angela Bassett, and Daniel Kauuya are all confirmed to return for the sequel in the wake of Boseman's death; Florence Kasumba is expected to return as well but have not been confirmed.
