March Picks: The Movies and TV You Can't Miss21 of 22
Tina | Premieres on HBO on Sunday, March 27
Plot: An intimate look at the life and career of musical icon Tina Turner, charting her improbable rise to early fame, her personal and professional struggles throughout her life and her even more improbable resurgence as a global phenomenon in the 1980s.
Our Take: For a second I thought Tina Turner's final hit was going to be Patrick's cover of "Simply the Best" on "Schitt’s Creek," so I'm happy to see a proper documentary focused on the R&B singer and Thunderdome queen's legacy that arrives some 60 years after her first hit song. Oscar-winning directors T.J. Martin and Dan Lindsay (Undefeated) help bring the shimmy. — Arno
