March Picks: The Movies and TV You Can't Miss4 of 22
Moxie | Premieres on Netflix on Wednesday, March 3
Plot: Inspired by her mom's rebellious past and a confident new friend, a shy 16-year-old publishes an anonymous zine calling out sexism at her school.
Our Take: Mean Girls already proved that Amy Poehler is “cool mom” material, but she does much more than wield a camcorder at the Winter Talent Show in Moxie. Poehler directed this sweet Netflix adaptation of Jennifer Mathieu's novel, which she also stars in as Lisa, a mom who unintentionally inspires a sexism-shattering revolution at her daughter’s high school. The cast is packed with young Hollywood talent to keep an eye on, including Hadley Robinson as budding riot grrrl Vivian, plus Patrick Schwarzenegger, Nico Hiraga, Josie Totah, and Josephine Langford. — Hannah
