Passions run high in the final program of the series. The day turns out to be very unlucky for Hugh as Stephen becomes irritated by his piano playing and kills him. But the irritation continues as the program becomes an obituary for Hugh and ruins the sketch. However, there is a happy ending for those who like that sort of thing.

John Drake visits the small country of San Pablo to investigate an apparent suicide. The victim, Winfield, was a U.S. Treasury representative to San Pablo. Drake is told by several people that Winfield was a notorious gambler who spent lavishly on women and wine. But that reputation is soon debunked by a young lady (character Raquel Vargas) who was very close to Winfield. Ms. Vargas tells Drake that Winfield had mentioned "a big discovery" just before his alleged suicide and disappearance. Drake suspects that the Police Commissioner is hiding something; he turns to the national Minister of Finance for help.

Captain Fantastic pursues his archenemy, Mrs. Black. Also, the Bonzo Dog Doo-Dah Band performs "Look Out, There's a Monster Coming".

A building site on Hobbs Lane in London unearths 5 million year old human skull. Quartermass investigates, but the investigation is merged with the military when a strange projectile is uncovered.

Col. Breen believes the projectile is a bomb - it's cold to the touch, slightly radioactive and made of an unknown substance, Roney's assistant Barbara Judd finds the area has a history of supernatural events, and a terrified Pte West claims to have seen an imp-like ghost: 'It went through the wall!'.

Journalist James Fullalove helps Quatermass research the history of Hobbs Lane, finding its name derives from Hob - the devil. A technician, Sladden, succeeds in opening a sealed compartment in the capsule, revealing three petrified alien insects.

Steed and Mrs Peel must find out why an early warning radar is failing. Emma joins the staff of The Sir Horace Winslip Hospital for Ailing Railwaymen - while Steed has lunch with Sir Horace himself aboard his private, indoor train.

Roney and Quatermass develop their theory about the Martians' visit to Earth, instilling their essence into man's ancestors, Sladden, alone in the pit, flees in terror as strange forces are conjured up.

A brain scanner reveals alien pictures in Barbara Judd's mind of 'the Wild Hunt' -the frenetic purging of the Martian hives. In the pit, a technician is killed as the capsule starts to glow.

Chaos reigns in the pit and the long-dormant Martian inheritance begins to assert itself in many people in the area - including Quatermass himself - driving them to a new racial purge, The capsule breaks open and an energy form rises up over London. Roney finds he is immune and strives to defeat it.

A highwayman steals "lupins" from the rich and tries to give them to the poor. Also: the first episode in a tatty, tedious 18th-century serial is brought to a screeching halt; peasants clamor for Titian paintings and Venetian glass.

A businessman sitting in his office inexplicably finds that he is on a production set and in a world where he is an actor. He fights to get back to his home and family.

Sam Kittredge accidentally discovers that his prospective son-in-law fought in the Civil War.

The spacesuited man sits down to hear tales of disenchantment from a farmer, a tired married couple and a shoe factory quality control manager. Also features an exercise dance class with Nick Cabaret, and the Marx Brothers in the jungle.

A customer in a shoe shop is surprised to learn that the shoes are not for sale, but actually available for pleasures of the flesh, he is eventually tempted by Fredericka the moccasin. Stephen remembers 'The day I forgot my legs' and there is a special version of A Question of Sport's 'What Happened Next?'

A courteous murderer wins a suspended sentence by virtue of his charm; a search for Paris by way of Iceland is interrupted by a plane crash and a shipwreck. Also: how to dispose of pets before going on vacation.
