I always thought he was kinda messy since Firefly had engaging characters and a good story-line but REALLY CORNY DIALOGUE. I haven't seen Buffy and I don't remember the first Avengers movie that much, but from what I can gather, The Avengers wasn't that well shot in my opinion and the aspect ratio, as well as the lighting, made it feel more like a TV movie in my opinion. The faults of his writing finally started to show during the re-shot version of Justice League, which I couldn't even finish due to it being REALLY TERRIBLE.
