Votes: 27,992

I don't really care about this korean drama legend if not for a cool slo-mo walking scene and the second lead couple's love story (that kinda gave birth to another korean drama series)

While strange rumors about their ill King grip a kingdom, the crown prince becomes their only hope against a mysterious plague overtaking the land.

a traditional korean drama with little camera techniques but still a captivating story, with interesting and deep character study

This drama tells of the love story that develops between a surgeon and a special forces officer.

Stars: Song Joong-ki, Song Hye-kyo, Jin Goo, Kim Ji-won

Votes: 21,801

A splash of cash for boring ignorant arcs that give zero attention to potential plot devices and leave a little to laugh about or memorize.

Stars: Lee Hyeri, Go Kyung-pyo, Ryu Jun-Yeol, Park Bo-gum

Votes: 11,493

It's funny that out of all the soap opera served in this list, the most aching heartbreaking story isn't a love story, but a neighborhood story. If you ever lived in the era before the millenium you will miss these kind of relationships. Not to mention missleading love interests.

9. What's Wrong with Secretary Kim (2018)

TV-G | 60 min | Comedy, Mystery, Romance

A romance between perfect but narcissistic second generation heir and his capable assistant.

Stars: Park Min-Young, Park Seo-joon, Lee Tae-Hwan, Kim Byeong-Ok

Votes: 18,507

Other than ordinary romcom, the only reason you kept watching was probably the simple secret the creators hid till the end.

10. The World of the Married (2020)

80 min | Drama, Romance

A story about a married couple whose betrayal of one another leads to a whirlwind of revenge.

Stars: Kim Hee-ae, Park Hae-joon, Han So-hee, Kim Young-min

Votes: 3,549

my number 10! The World of the Married doesn't care about any humour and it doesn't need any. When at its best, this series can really build quite the tension.

11. Heirs (2013)

After a chance encounter in LA, two teens from different social backgrounds reunite at an exclusive high school attended by Korea's über rich.

Stars: Lee Min-ho, Park Shin-Hye, Kim Woo-bin, Kim Ji-won

Votes: 13,386

Proves to be an important part of the Korean Drama timeline. It somewhat feels like an alternate hana yori dango story that went too serious.

12. Touch Your Heart (2019)

A romance between a lawyer and a top actress, whose life goes downhill after becoming caught up in a scandal with a third generation chaebol. She fakes her position to become the lawyer's ... See full summary »

Stars: IU, Yeo Jin-goo, Shin Jeong-geun, Bae Hae-sun

Votes: 13,459

This is pretty much a gender swapped Goblin series, but better! Gorgeous female lead (and outfit). Korean Dramas usually have a flat ending but this is quite the contrast. A balanced Korean Drama - Horror Series that will satisfy both enthusiasts

14. My Love from Another Star (2013–2014)

Not Rated | 60 min | Comedy, Drama, Fantasy

Stars: Jun Ji-hyun, Kim Soo-hyun, Park Hae-Jin, Yoo In-na

Votes: 15,887

Nineteen years after watching my sassy girl and here I am still ROFL-ing to miss Jun Ji-Hyun like it was yesterday. Very funny, very romantic, and very tense introducing a Joker-like villain.

15. Beauty Inside (2018)

Stars: Seo Hyeon-jin, Lee Min-ki, Lee Da-hee, Ahn Jae-Hyun

Votes: 3,080

As my friend always said, "good things happen from low expectations". That is exactly what happened here. Watching this drama was a coincidence and the premise looked like short-lived but it found its way to keep us till the end, that goes for the main arc and also the second lead arc. Certainly wasn't the worst movie in this list.

16. While You Were Sleeping (2017)

The drama is about a woman, Nam Hong Joo, who can see accidents that take place in the future through her dreams. And a prosecutor, Jung Jae Chan, who struggles to stop the woman's dreams from coming true.

Stars: Choi Siwon, Kang So-ra, Gong Myoung, Lee Jae-yoon

Votes: 865

Didn't watch till the finish. Siwon's character was unbearable and too hideous to be taken seriously or even to enjoy.

18. Oh My Baby (2020)

60 min | Drama, Romance

Jang Ha Ri is a 39-year-old single woman and a workaholic who has not been in a relationship for over 10 years but wants to have a baby of her own. Just when she has given up on love and marriage, three men appear in front of her.

Stars: Jang Na-ra, Joon Go, Park Byeong-eun, Geon-joo Jung

Votes: 368

Even though it gives the impression of a light Korean drama, Oh My Baby is not afraid to discuss social issues in depth such as the difficulties in caring for babies or in fact the difficulties in having a baby. Finally, this series does not run away by just giving an easy and hopeful ending.

19. Strong Girl Bong-soon (2017)

TV-14 | 67 min | Comedy, Crime, Drama

Stars: Park Hae-soo, Jung Kyung-ho, Krystal Jung, Lee Kyoo-hyung

Votes: 4,808

My number 20! Coming from the same creator of Reply 1988, this movie was begging to be compared. I was so curious how this series would end. Evidently, it delivered the same emotional punches as its predecessor in its finale.

21. Welcome to Waikiki (2018–2019)

With big dreams of financing their own film project, three struggling young men join forces in a guesthouse venture that is anything but profitable.

This is just another Meteor Garden with a lighter tone. That includes a funnier main girl and a kinder main guy.

23. W (2016)

60 min | Action, Comedy, Drama

After being pulled into the webtoon world created by her father, a surgical resident gets entangled in a murder mystery involving the story's hero.

Stars: Han Hyo-joo, Lee Jong-suk, Jeong Eu-gene, Lee Tae-Hwan

Votes: 13,986

What if all bounderies in storytelling were lifted? Well W used this premise as an opportunity to build endless tension in a fastpaced, progressive, non-linear crime fantasy series

24. Hwarang: The Poet Warrior Youth (2016–2017)

60 min | Action, Comedy, Drama

Revolves around an elite group of male warrior youth called Hwarang who grow through passion and love in Seorabeol, the capital of the ancient kingdom of Silla.

Stars: Park Seo-joon, Go Ara, Park Hyung-sik, Choi Min-ho

Votes: 5,761

First of all, the story looked like it was loosing audience. It started of as your same old same old love story and it was begging for an antagonist and some hidden agendas. But heads starting turning back in the second half of the series when it suddenly went all game of thrones, chopping heads (literally?) and doing nasty politics for your attention.

25. Legend of the Blue Sea (2016–2017)

60 min | Comedy, Drama, Fantasy

A mermaid from the Joseon period ends up in present-day Seoul, where she crosses paths with a swindler who may have ties to someone from her past.

Stars: Jun Ji-hyun, Lee Min-ho, Lee Hee-joon, Shin Won-ho

Votes: 12,493

I know that Korean Dramas are slow burners, but this one must have topped the lot. It gathers all the winning elements of a Korean Series but doesn't quite tie them up together. At the end I found it hard to root for anything this series ever tried to offer.

26. Something in the Rain (2018)

When a single career woman reunites with her best friend's younger brother after he returns from three years of working abroad, their efforts to reconnect grow into romance.

Stars: Son Ye-jin, Jung Hae-in, Joo Min-Kyung, Kim Jong-tae

Votes: 8,630

a more "mature" Korean Drama that shows non-cosmetic sceneries that are probably hidden in other series. A beautiful built up story but rather dissapointing hanging end.

27. She Was Pretty (2015)

60 min | Comedy, Romance

When Ji Sung-Joon was young, he was ugly. As he grew up, he began to have an attractive appearance. When Kim Hye-Jin was young, she was pretty. As she grew up, she became ugly. Ji Sung-Joon tries to find his first love.

Stars: Hwang Jeong-eum, Park Seo-joon, Ko Jun-hee, Choi Siwon

Votes: 6,297

It might be called "she was pretty" but this korean drama will always be pretty. The characters might look silly, but they are believable, if not lovable, and three dimensional, not like some other over hyped series in this list. You'll get yourself wanting for the next episode because of its funny, exiting, and touching plot.

28. Secret Garden (2010–2011)

60 min | Comedy, Drama, Fantasy

A rich young CEO falls for a poor stuntwoman despite class differences, cultural traditions and the man's firmly objecting mother.

Stars: Ha Ji-Won, Hyun Bin, Yoon Sang-Hyun, Kim Sa-rang

Votes: 7,643

Hyun Bin was hillarious at first, but then the plot got really soapy.

Stars: Ahn Bo-Hyun, Park Jin-joo, Kim Bo-ra, Jung Je-Won

Votes: 6,381

what happens if you give secretary Kim a second chance? the answer is she'll show the same kind of performance all over again. This tells that the actress is limited in terms of heights and depths.

31. Cinderella and the Four Knights (2016)

A young girl who lives with her cruel stepmother and sister, accidentally meets 3 young and rich cousins who live a luxury life in a big mansion and is hired by the boys grandpa to look after their bad behavior.

something something something real dad something something something false dad something something something I can't give you my blessing... only little parts of this kdrama that aren't skippable

32. Pinocchio (2014–2015)

TV-14 | 59 min | Comedy, Drama, Mystery

Stars: Lee Jong-suk, Park Shin-Hye, Kim Hae-sook, Jin Kyung

Votes: 8,934

Finally a Kdrama that brings back good taste. Pinocchio builds on a unique premise and delivers interesting subplots by subplots. Even the love story is a well placed plot device.

Votes: 10,966

The plot was so straight, you'll think they are tricking you for a surprise ending... until you figure out the trick is... there is no trick

34. Mr. Sunshine (2018)

TV-MA | 80 min | Action, Drama, Romance

A young boy who ends up in the U.S. after the 1871 Shinmiyangyo incident returns to Korea at a historical turning point and falls for a noblewoman.

Stars: Lee Byung-hun, Kim Tae-ri, Yoo Yeon-Seok, Byun Yo-han

Votes: 10,237

If you know little about the history of Korea, you will know the fate of this tv series. Aside from that, the series feels overlong and the universe feels crowded. If it divided the sets into multisets and arcs into sub-arcs it would probably be more intriguing. Once again the creator of DOTS comes up with singular blockbuster moments but not a coherent story in whole.

35. When the Camellia Blooms (2019)

30 min | Comedy, Drama, Romance

A love story of the single-parent Dongbaek, the owner of Camellia Bar among a small neighborhood, who is also being the next murder target of a serial killer case.

Stars: Kong Hyo-jin, Kim Ji-seok, Ji E-Suu, Kang Ha-neul

Votes: 3,206

Unusual, interesting, honest and awesome acting of the main male (Hello again, sunbae from Heirs), and a nice attempt in combining dramedy with suspense. I'll forgive the fact that the interest gradually fades towards the end.

36. Tale of the Nine Tailed (2020– )

70 min | Fantasy, History, Horror

An urban dark fantasy drama about a gumiho who settles into the city and a producer who is after it.

Let's just say that Lee Dong Wook has certain unique skill sets and those certain unique skill sets are not used in this Kdrama.

37. The King: Eternal Monarch (2020)

A modern-day Korean emperor passes through a mysterious portal and into a parallel world, where he encounters a feisty police detective.

Stars: Lee Min-ho, Kim Go-eun, Woo Do-Hwan, Kim Kyung-Nam

Votes: 16,049

An interesting science fiction history premise build-up in the start, turns into a muddled nonsense of a story in the end

Young entrepreneurs aspiring to launch virtual dreams into reality compete for success and love in the cutthroat world of Korea's high-tech industry.

Stars: Bae Suzy, Nam Joo-hyuk, Kim Seon-ho, Kang Han-na

Votes: 14,643

If the ending of reply 1988 felt like a huge blow for certain fans, this one rather felt like a manipulative sourer. In the end it was quite a textbook storytelling about informatics entrepreneurship

39. My Mister (2018)

TV-14 | 70 min | Drama, Family

A man in his 40s withstands the weight of life. A woman in her 20s goes through different experiences, but also withstands the weight of her life. The man and woman get together to help each other.

Stars: Lee Sun-kyun, IU, Lee Ji-ah, Park Ho-san

Votes: 9,463

38 Korean Dramas, then comes this one, which feels clearly a level above the rest. IU is exceptional in the lead female role. I'm really sad that she lost to a Sky Castle's lead in the Baeksang Awards

40. SKY Castle (2018–2019)

75 min | Drama, Mystery

A satirical drama that closely looks at the materialistic desires of upper-class parents in South Korea and how they ruthlessly secure the successes of their families at the cost of destroying others' lives.

Stars: Yum Jung-ah, Lee Tae-ran, Yun Se-ah, Oh Na-ra

Votes: 4,083

This is my number 40. Sky Castle has its ups and downs probably because of its muddled plot. Fortunately, its ups are very high, like "sky" high :D get it?

41. Mystic Pop-up Bar (2020)

70 min | Comedy, Fantasy, Mystery

A young man with an unique ability begins working for a centuries-old bar owner who resolves her customers' emotional troubles by entering their dreams.

Votes: 14,709

A cry-out to other K-Dramas, if you can't reach the heights of being a quality top drama, just be fully entertaining like this one.

Stars: Park Hae-Jin, Kim Go-eun, Seo Kang-Joon, Nam Joo-hyuk

Votes: 4,711

If there is any such thing as a hidden gem, this must be it. How could a quality character study like this just fly bellow the radar? Not to mention pin point relatable campus life.

45. Encounter (2018–2019)

60 min | Drama, Romance

Brought together by fate, a woman who seems to have everything and a young man who seems to have nothing decides to give up an ordinary life to be together.

Stars: Park Bo-gum, Song Hye-kyo, Jeon So-nee, Kwak Sun-young

Votes: 2,358

I'm ready for some noona romance and I'm ready for some lady and the tramp romance, but a mix between the two is really off-putting. However overall still a watchable korean drama, especially if you're a fan of Song He Kyo

46. Stranger (2017–2020)

TV-14 | 60 min | Crime, Drama, Mystery

With the help of a gutsy female detective, a prosecutor who has almost lost the ability to feel emotions tackles a strange murder case amid political corruption.

Stars: Cho Seung-woo, Bae Doona, Lee Jun-hyuk, Jeon Bae-soo

Votes: 10,108

If Bae Doona does a Korean Drama, you gotta believe it's a hella good one, and that is exactly what you get. A complicated whodonit CSI style series which burns slow but captivates throughout the process.

47. Weightlifting Fairy Kim Bok-Joo (2016–2017)

60 min | Comedy, Romance

A coming-of-age story about a group of college athletes who are fighting for their dreams, experiencing and finding love in the process, and growing every step of the way.

Stars: Lee Sung-Kyung, Nam Joo-hyuk, Lee Jae-yoon, Hye-Jung Cho

Votes: 12,890

I Knew Baek In-Ha from Cheese In The Trap would make a good female lead. Turns out that the ultimate feel-good Korean Drama is in forms of a college sports love story. The first episodes are hilarious.

48. Signal (2016)

80 min | Crime, Drama, Fantasy

A cold-case profiler in 2015 and a detective in 1989 work together to solve a series of related murders spanning three decades using a special walkie-talkie to communicate with each other.

Stars: Lee Jehoon, Kim Hye-su, Cho Jin-woong, Kim Won-hae

Votes: 9,179

The "My Ahjussi" Director delivers a Korean Drama with an ok premise and ok twists and turns but will still add nicely in the collection shelf of murder mystery enthusiasts. Some parts will even give you extra chills.

49. Memories of the Alhambra (2018–2019)

Stars: Park Shin-Hye, Hyun Bin, Min Jin-woong, Park Hoon

Votes: 7,066

A little better than expected. Especially the computer effects, they were astonishing! Hyun Bin and Park Shin Hye also show their 100% in the romance playing fields they are most known for. Nothing really to hate here (certainly not the beautiful sceneries of Granada)

50. Fight for My Way (2017)

70 min | Comedy, Romance

Ko Dong Man, a former taekwondo champion, and Choi Ae Ra, a receptionist, struggle to follow their dreams as life throws obstacles in their path.

Stars: Park Seo-joon, Kim Ji-won, Ahn Jae-hong, Song Ha-yoon

Votes: 9,109

My number 50! Another funny uplifting commoners series which sometimes falls, if not intentionally, in cliché territory. But for fight flick enthusiasts, the series do deliver.

Don't let the title fool you, this saeguk series is a serious take of Americans political comedy movie "Dave". It even frequently offers over-the-top violence. Is it interesting enough to follow? Yes it is.

52. Flower of Evil (2020)

The story of six students at Kirin Art High School who work to achieve their dreams of becoming stars in the Korean music industry. Along the way, they discover the true meaning of friendship, love and life.

Stars: J.Y. Park, Bae Suzy, Kim Soo-hyun, IU

Votes: 3,554

A very Korean version of "Glee", which includes many K-Pop idolizing, oppa romances, and leaves out the liberal nonsense. Overall, it's a very sweet and dynamic telling with interesting melodies for music enthusiasts.

54. Vincenzo (2021)

During a visit to his motherland, a Korean-Italian Mafia lawyer gives an unrivaled conglomerate a taste of its own medicine with a side of justice.

Stars: Song Joong-ki, Jeon Yeo-been, Taecyeon, Kwak Dong-yeon

Votes: 27,998

Song Jong Ki plays a far more believable character than the soldier fairy he played in DOTS. This series feels like a mix of "I Saw The Devil" and "Kung Fu Hustle". A quite satisfying climax for them who want the worst for the bad people in the series.

55. Mouse (2021)

Brilliant rom-com! this really is a change of pace from your daily Korean Drama. I would say, a K-Drama with a taste of Dorama. I really want to talk a lot about this one. While, the usual Korean Soap Opera is filled with ambitious gains and typical capitalist stuff, this one is literally a sidestep to the country side. Much of the heart is poured here. Really necessary.

A very unsettling and bleak message hides behind telenovela-like storytelling. Leaving loose ends here and there, this drama runs for three seasons with the highest pace. Viewers can only sit tight on the edge of their seats for most of their long-running time.

For Kim Bum, this is a dramatic elevation of his performance from The Tale of Nine Tales. It really shows depths in character and what a three dimensional performer he can be. As I always said, Lee Dong Wok has certain unique skill sets. This is the Korean Drama that delivers it! A very fitting title (certainly not bad, though) and a high-paced plot. Once again, twelve episodes aren't enough for this one.
