July Picks: The Movies and TV You Can't Miss22 of 31
Old | In Theaters on Friday, July 23
Plot: A family on a tropical holiday discovers that the secluded beach where they are relaxing is somehow causing them to age rapidly, reducing their entire lives into a single day.
Our Take: With its single-location setting and time-boxed mystery premise, this story feels more like a "Twilight Zone" episode than a horror movie, though if I discovered that I'd die of old age by the end of the day, I’d be pretty horrified. If you can’t wait to see how it all ends, or just want to know when you should cover your eyes, M. Night Shyamalan's screenplay is based on the graphic novel "Sandcastle" by Pierre-Oscar Lévy and Frederik Peeters, which you can pick up now. — Vanessa
