- DirectorRyan CooglerStarsMichael B. JordanMiles CatonSaul WilliamsTrying to leave their troubled lives behind, twin brothers return to their hometown to start again, only to discover that an even greater evil is waiting to welcome them back.Something wicked lurks in the Deep South in Ryan Coolger’s first horror movie. Michael B. Jordan stars as twin brothers fleeing a troubled past, only to discover a powerful evil waiting for them in their hometown. This is the fifth collaboration between the director and actor, who have been working together since Fruitvale Station, Coogler’s feature debut in 2013. In addition to Jordan, the writer-director has assembled an enviable cast that includes Hailee Steinfeld, Delroy Lindo, and Jack O’Connell, among others.
In theaters - DirectorDavid F. SandbergStarsElla RubinMichael CiminoOdessa A'zionA group of friends trapped in a time loop, where mysterious foes chase and kill them in gruesome ways, must survive until dawn to escape it.Ten years ago, Supermassive Games delivered a unique video game that placed players into a horror movie they could control. “Until Dawn” told the story of eight friends with a secret past as they gathered for a weekend at a remote mountain lodge. What made the game so memorable was that every decision players made could affect both which characters survived the ordeal and how the ending played out. The game was a hit with horror fans, and folks were soon speculating that a movie couldn’t be far behind. Now, ten years later, Sony is granting our wish with an adaptation that takes a clever approach to the game’s beloved butterfly effect. David F. Sandberg (Lights Out, Annabelle: Creation) directs the film which finds the characters trapped in a time loop filled with monsters, killers, and supernatural frights that they must keep at bay to survive until dawn. Among the cast is Odessa A’zion, who gained horror fame as the star of 2022’s Hellraiser and Peter Stormare who will reprise his role from the original video game.
In theaters April 25, 2025 - DirectorEli CraigStarsKatie DouglasAaron AbramsCarson MacCormacA fading midwestern town in which Frendo the clown, a symbol of bygone success, reemerges as a terrifying scourge. No plot synopsis necessary for this high-concept slasher comedy, directed by Eli Craig (Tucker and Dale vs. Evil). If the Terrifier films are too much for you (and why wouldn't they be?), Clown in a Cornfield offers a much more accessible option for clown horror. Based on Adam Cesare’s Bram Stoker Award-winning YA novel about small-town teens terrorized by a bloodthirsty clown, the film was a hit with the midnight crowds at SXSW. With any luck, we'll be seeing more of Frendo the Clown since Cesare has already published two sequel novels that can be harvested to make a new horror franchise.
Premieres Friday, May 9 on Shudder - DirectorsZach LipovskyAdam B. SteinStarsTony ToddBrec BassingerRichard HarmonPlagued by a recurring violent nightmare, a college student returns home to find the one person who can break the cycle and save her family from the horrific fate that inevitably awaits them.Twenty-five years ago we were glued to the screen when Alex Browning avoided certain death on Volée Airlines Flight 180, only to find the grim reaper waiting around every corner, bus, and clothesline. Since then, we've switched lanes to avoid log trucks, never brought a drink into a tanning booth, and given up roller coasters once and for all. In Final Destination: Bloodlines, which is one of those sequel/soft reboot situations, two timelines will intersect as a college student who is plagued by recurring nightmares returns home to save her family from you know what. The fanbase is ready (we’ve read all the subreddits), the official trailer nearly became the most-watched horror trailer of all time, and we love how dedicated Warner Bros. is to getting this reboot right.
In theaters May 16, 2025 - DirectorMatt PalmerStarsAriana GreenblattKatherine WaterstonElla RubinWhen the "it" girls competing for prom queen at Shadyside High start to disappear, a gutsy outsider discovers she's in for one hell of a prom night.Let’s face it, high school can be a killer, and Netflix’s latest Fear Street flick is taking teen terror to the max with Prom Queen. Based on R.L. Stein’s beloved YA novel, this new movie follows Shadyside High’s most popular prom queen hopefuls as a mysterious figure picks them off one by one. It’s a typical slasher plot, but director Matt Palmer aims to elevate the proceedings with a heightened throwback style, citing inspirations like River’s Edge and Blue Velvet alongside influential directors John Carpenter and Dario Argento. Newcomers India Fowler and Fina Strazza head up the cast with supporting performances from Ella Rubin (Anora), Ariana Greenblatt (Barbie), and Lili Taylor (The Conjuring, “Six Feet Under”), among others.
Premieres on Netflix May 23 - DirectorsDanny PhilippouMichael PhilippouStarsBilly BarrattSally HawkinsMischa HeywoodA brother and sister uncover a terrifying ritual at the secluded home of their new foster mother.Need a good scare this month? Twin directors Danny and Michael Philippou (Talk to Me) are re-teaming with A24 for Bring Her Back, which they’ve called a “spiritual successor” to Talk to Me. The story follows two siblings who discover something spooky about their new foster mother, and the Philippous have shared that the film leans more psychological than its predecessor. Either way, we suggest leaving the scaredy cats at home for this one.
In theaters May 30, 2025 - DirectorDanny BoyleStarsJack O'ConnellRalph FiennesAaron Taylor-JohnsonA group of survivors of the rage virus lives on a small island. When one of the group leaves the island on a mission into the mainland, he discovers secrets, wonders, and horrors that have mutated not only the infected but other survivors. It's hard to believe nearly 25 years have passed since 28 Days Later terrified us with its sprinting, rage-filled zombies. This summer, the team that brought that nightmare to life – Danny Boyle, Alex Garland, and cinematographer Anthony Dod Mantle – are back to terrorize us again with the first movie in a new trilogy, which is set 28 years after the apocalypse, where zombies still remain a significant threat to humanity. Jodie Comer, Ralph Fiennes, and Aaron Taylor-Johnson join the franchise as some of the unfortunate survivors on an island in the north of England who have inherited this terrifying world. We know Cillian Murphy is lurking behind the scenes as an executive producer, and there are unconfirmed reports he’ll reprise his role from the original film. (And no, he's not the emaciated zombie who pops up at the end of the trailer.) The next entry, 28 Years Later: The Bone Temple from director Nia DaCosta, is set for release next January.

- DirectorsJoe DeBoerKyle McConaghyStarsSterling Macer Jr.John FleckMicki JacksonAn ominous help note finds its way to a 1980s post office, connecting a dead letter investigator to a kidnapped keyboard technician. From the opening frames of Joe DeBoer and Kyle McConaghy’s horror thriller you can tell you’re in for something different. The grainy handheld shot of a bound man dragging himself toward a mailbox to send out a help note makes you feel like you’re watching a movie from the bygone era of low-budget direct-to-video movies of the 1980s. What follows is a shifty thriller that covers familiar ground, but adds a novel angle (undeliverable mail investigators), an abundance of synthesizers (on screen and in the score), and a drab retro-midwest aesthetic that feels more authentic than the neon glow that typically passes for ‘80s nostalgia in modern movies and TV.
Streaming on Shudder - DirectorChristopher LandonStarsMeghann FahyBrandon SklenarViolett BeaneA widowed mother's first date in years takes a terrifying turn when she's bombarded with anonymous threatening messages on her phone during their upscale dinner, leaving her questioning if her charming date is behind the harassment.Horror titans Blumhouse and director Christopher Landon—who collaborated on horror comedies Happy Death Day and Freaky—are back with a high-concept thriller about the perils of AirDrop. Meghann Fahy (“The White Lotus,” “The Perfect Couple”) is the unfortunate recipient of some disturbing phone drops during a date. Trigger warning: If you find looking at your phone during dinner rude, this movie may send you over the edge.

- DirectorGerard JohnstoneStarsJenna DavisViolet McGrawJemaine ClementTwo years after M3GAN's rampage, her creator, Gemma, resorts to resurrecting her infamous creation in order to take down Amelia, the military-grade weapon who was built by a defense contractor who stole M3GAN's underlying tech.Remember those heady days in 2023 when AI wasn’t so much a reality as a fun excuse for a horror movie? Well, those times are past, but at least everyone’s favorite cybernetic playmate is back with a serious upgrade. In M3GAN 2.0, robotics engineer Gemma and her niece Cady must partner with their homicidal android to take down Amelia, a military-grade version of M3GAN that has slipped the leash. Sure we’ve seen it before, but have we seen it set to the melodic millennial anthems of Britney Spears? Have we seen it with karate, wingsuits, and fierce futuristic costumes? Director Gerard Johnston, writer Akela Cooper, and producer James Wan – the same trio of maniacs responsible for the first film – are all back for v2, as are core cast members Allison Williams, Violet McGraw, Amie Donald, and Jenna Davis. With all this hype, we suspect theaters are going to get pretty raucous when Blumhouse releases this Terminator 2 for teens.

With tensions already flaring, an encounter with an unnatural force threatens to corrupt their lives, their love, and their flesh.Even the most seasoned horror fans should prepare themselves for Michael Shanks’ Together. Billed as a movie about the horror of codependency, the writer-director’s feature debut stars real-life couple Alison Brie and Dave Franco as a husband and wife whose move to the country triggers a supernatural incident with shocking consequences. Sundance’s programming team called the film “wild and crazy,” but our ears really perked up when they hinted that some body horror is in store.
