Votes: 988,211 | Gross: $13.09M

8.6

What a performance from J.K. Simmons. I didn't have any expectations with that movie but it catches your attention since the first minute and won't let it go until the end. It's a big YES

3. Shot Caller (2017)

Director: Ric Roman Waugh | Stars: Nikolaj Coster-Waldau, Omari Hardwick, Lake Bell, Jon Bernthal

Votes: 98,331

8.6

This is how you do it. Besides the good action it helps you think about how wrong the prison system is. I don't wanna say more to avoid spoilers but this particular movie stands out from all the prison-type ones.

4. 3 Idiots (2009)

PG-13 | 170 min | Comedy, Drama

Director: Rajkumar Hirani | Stars: Aamir Khan, Madhavan, Mona Singh, Sharman Joshi

Votes: 434,175 | Gross: $6.53M

8.5

This genre of movies is so far from what i usually like. Indian Movie + musical and last about 3 hours ? Absolutelly YES (apart from the musical one) . Start slow but it just helps for the setup the next 2:30 are funny, interesting and emotional. If there weren't that annoying musical breaks I could rate it with at least a 9.

5. O Brother, Where Art Thou? (2000)

Votes: 330,680 | Gross: $45.51M

8.1

I m not sure but this could be a classic. A pleasing story with very good acting , especially George Clooney. Nice character building even the annoying ones are really annoying. I liked it.

6. Zombieland: Double Tap (2019)

R | 99 min | Action, Comedy, Horror

55 Metascore

Director: Ruben Fleischer | Stars: Woody Harrelson, Jesse Eisenberg, Emma Stone, Abigail Breslin

Votes: 202,453 | Gross: $73.12M

8

Despite the lower rating i prefered the second part. The characters were well developed through the first movie and the second makes them much more interesting. It's more character oriented while the first one is more about the situation. You can't see it without watching the first part.

7. The 100 Year-Old Man Who Climbed Out the Window and Disappeared (2013)

R | 114 min | Adventure, Comedy

58 Metascore

After living a long and colorful life, Allan Karlsson finds himself stuck in a nursing home. On his 100th birthday, he leaps out a window and begins an unexpected journey.

Director: Felix Herngren | Stars: Robert Gustafsson, Iwar Wiklander, David Wiberg, Mia Skäringer

Votes: 42,629 | Gross: $1.08M

7.9

When a friend suggested this I had second thoughts, the title , the cover (I'm guilty , I know) , the story itself. But you know what? It worths every damn minute. It gives you so many little stories and you never feel bored , great scenery , a good sense of humour , even the main story itself is good (if you like Guy Richie's films you will love it) .

Fun fact : after seeing this I checked the actor who plays the 100 year old guy , he was under 50 so great make-up artists too.

8. Zombieland (2009)

R | 88 min | Action, Comedy, Horror

73 Metascore

Votes: 620,910 | Gross: $75.59M

7.9

Yes sir. Great character developement , great adventure , clever ideas , beautiful music. I just wanted to have fun and relax and this movie can do it perfectly

9. Dredd (2012)

R | 95 min | Action, Crime, Sci-Fi

60 Metascore

Director: Pete Travis | Stars: Karl Urban, Olivia Thirlby, Lena Headey, Rachel Wood

Votes: 294,169 | Gross: $13.41M

7.9

This type of movies is almost standard that will use a lot of cliches and Dredd has a lot of that elements. But there are some stuff that can make a movie of that genre stand out. Villains , artistic direction, costumes and music/sound effects . Lena Headay was a badass villain , some scenes were piece of art and costumes + sound were so polished. It feels like a setup for part 2 though.

10. The Neon Demon (2016)

R | 117 min | Horror, Thriller

51 Metascore

An aspiring model, Jesse, is new to Los Angeles. However, her beauty and youth, which generate intense fascination and jealousy within the fashion industry, may prove themselves sinister.

Director: Nicolas Winding Refn | Stars: Elle Fanning, Christina Hendricks, Keanu Reeves, Karl Glusman

Votes: 103,882 | Gross: $1.33M

7.5

I can't believe I rate this so high. It's really disturbing , made me look away from screen , made me feel uncomfortable and in addition with the perfect visuals I had a first time experince during a movie.

If someone asks me to see this film or not i would surely say yes but i wouldn't recommend it to anyone. I don't know if that makes sense.

If it wasn't that depressing I would rate it even higher but I guess that's how livivng in the world of modeling is.

11. Solomon Kane (2009)

R | 104 min | Action, Adventure, Fantasy

48 Metascore

A ruthless mercenary renounces violence after learning his soul is bound for hell. When a young girl is kidnapped and her family slain by a sorcerer's murderous cult, he is forced to fight and seek his redemption slaying evil.

Director: M.J. Bassett | Stars: James Purefoy, Max von Sydow, Rachel Hurd-Wood, Pete Postlethwaite

Votes: 76,374

6.9

This movie is unfair to itself , great scenery and costumes , the build of the characters and all the transitions Solomon Kane was going through. Even the CGI was on point (except one really small scene) the first 90minutes.

But the last part of the movie is messy , they look like they were in a rush to finish it and they almost destroyed what they have done in the whole entire movie where the setup was really really good. Definetilly it's better than the overal IMDb rating but still they could make it much better

12. Smokin' Aces (2006)

R | 108 min | Action, Comedy, Crime

Votes: 152,027 | Gross: $35.66M

6.8

Having this cast playing in your movie you can do amazing things. Smokin Aces had some parts that were boring but in general a good movie with a lot of fun. Tarantino fans gonna love this

13. Alpha (II) (2018)

PG-13 | 96 min | Action, Adventure, Drama

Director: Albert Hughes | Stars: Kodi Smit-McPhee, Jóhannes Haukur Jóhannesson, Marcin Kowalczyk, Jens Hultén

Votes: 66,517 | Gross: $35.85M

6.7

I really liked the scenic. It has some unique and epic photography in it. The story is overused but it's like you re a going on an adventure and that's all i ask from movies like this

14. The Last Duel (2021)

R | 152 min | Action, Drama, History

67 Metascore

The Knight Jean de Carrouges must settle the dispute over his wife Marguerite by challenging his former friend to a duel to the death.

Director: Ridley Scott | Stars: Matt Damon, Adam Driver, Jodie Comer, Harriet Walter

Votes: 181,818 | Gross: $10.85M

6.5

I don't know, maybe I'm a little unfair with this one. Not a bad movie but so little action , way too long and so many boring parts. Bad choise of actors too, I like Matt Damon and Ben Affleck but in this movie the both look irrelevant. I also found the direction bad , the way they framed the whole movie is too tight, only close-ups and mid range shots .

15. Alita: Battle Angel (2019)

6.5

Imagine that someone asks you to rate food and he asks you to rate corn flakes. This is Alita , a bowl of cornflakes. Nothing special , nothing extraordinary , nothing that you don't expect but you gonna enjoy it the time you watch it and after a while you will forget it. If you re alergic on cornflakes don't watch it.

16. Raising Arizona (1987)

PG-13 | 94 min | Comedy, Crime

69 Metascore

Directors: Joel Coen, Ethan Coen | Stars: Nicolas Cage, Holly Hunter, Trey Wilson, John Goodman

Votes: 150,261 | Gross: $22.85M

6.4

Had some fun during this one. Good setup but it could be much much better

57 Metascore

A cold and mysterious character working at a cash truck company responsible for moving a lot of money around Los Angeles each week.

Director: Guy Ritchie | Stars: Jason Statham, Holt McCallany, Josh Hartnett, Rocci Boy Williams

Votes: 207,366 | Gross: $27.47M

6.4

Guy Ritchie ✓ Jason Statham ✓ What could go wrong? An overused scenario with cliche acting and expected plot twists. You can't even recognise that this is a Guy Ritchie film .

18. Venom: Let There Be Carnage (2021)

Eddie Brock attempts to reignite his career by interviewing serial killer Cletus Kasady, who becomes the host of the symbiote Carnage and escapes prison after a failed execution.

Director: Andy Serkis | Stars: Tom Hardy, Woody Harrelson, Michelle Williams, Naomie Harris

Votes: 258,791 | Gross: $213.55M

6.3

I liked the first part , but this one looks careless. It's like they said let's make a Venom 2 now that's hot. Dissapointed

19. Red State (2011)

R | 88 min | Action, Crime, Horror

50 Metascore

Set in Middle America, a group of teens receive an online invitation for sex, though they soon encounter fundamentalists with a much more sinister agenda.

Director: Kevin Smith | Stars: Michael Parks, Melissa Leo, John Goodman, Michael Angarano

Votes: 67,155 | Gross: $1.10M

6

So sad that it is so small. It's a good story and the way it evolves is interesting , but it ends too quick.

20. Hoodies vs. Hooligans (2014)

Not Rated | 95 min | Thriller

The Guvnors is a violent thriller set amongst the clans and firms of South East London, bringing two generations together in brutal conflict.

Director: Gabe Turner | Stars: Tom Davis, Doug Allen, Rochelle Neil, Vas Blackwood

Votes: 3,367

5.9

It's a typical English gang movie. Not something special. I wanted to have more backgound and a better developement of the characters. It feels short and messy because of this. 30 minutes more and it could be a much better movie.

21. Dealer (I) (2014)

Director: Jean Luc Herbulot | Stars: Dan Bronchinson, Elsa Madeleine, Salem Kali, Bruno Henry

Votes: 589

5.9

In an oversaturated genre this movie couldn't even come close to stand out. Nothing new to see here , it's more like a bad copy of a Guy Richie's film. It keeps your interest though and have some well developed characters. I maybe watched a lot of movies like this and if I ve seen this one earlier i would rate it better.

22. District 9 (2009)

Director: Neill Blomkamp | Stars: Sharlto Copley, David James, Jason Cope, Vanessa Haywood

Votes: 716,517 | Gross: $115.65M

5.7

I m new to this kind of sci-fi so I just went for high rated movies that would help me to understand the genre better. Nice idea to present it as a documentary film , it looked original but apart from this the story itself and the way they give it is deffinetily not for me.

23. Braven (2018)

R | 94 min | Action, Thriller

61 Metascore

A logger defends his family from a group of dangerous drug runners.

Director: Lin Oeding | Stars: Jason Momoa, Garret Dillahunt, Jill Wagner, Stephen Lang

Votes: 42,102

5.7

Just an average Adventure Movie. Stephen Lang and Jason Momoa plus a good scenic helped the movie from being extremelly cliche and borng.

24. Dunkirk (2017)

Allied soldiers from Belgium, the British Commonwealth and Empire, and France are surrounded by the German Army and evacuated during a fierce battle in World War II.

Votes: 739,542 | Gross: $188.37M

4.8

I can't understand why all that fuss was made about this one. It's so slow and boring . It's the first time I slept during a movie.

25. The Bad Batch (2016)

R | 118 min | Action, Horror, Mystery

62 Metascore

In a desert dystopia, a young woman is kidnapped by cannibals.

Director: Ana Lily Amirpour | Stars: Suki Waterhouse, Jason Momoa, Jayda Fink, Keanu Reeves

Votes: 35,480 | Gross: $0.18M

4.3

Who paid 6 million to make this movie ? Totally unneeded, disturbing and gross scenes that don't fit in the rest of the film neither they help to build it up. Or is this supposed to be artistic ?The first dialog drops at 20min and the pace is really slow. But the worst part is that everything is unrealistic , nothing explains anything. Totally pretentious writer/director.

0.1

LOL OK. You can't be serious, right? If you want to apreciate today's films watch this. At least it kept my curiosity of how much more dumb it can become and I managed to finish it
