January Picks: The Movies and TV You Can't Miss18 of 21
A Hero | Premieres on Prime Video on Friday, Jan. 21
Plot: Rahim is in prison because of a debt he was unable to repay. He tries to convince his creditor to withdraw his complaint, but things don't go as planned.
Our Take: Director Asghar Farhadi is no stranger to the Academy Awards: his films A Separation and The Salesman both won the Best Foreign Language Oscar, and he scored a Best Original Screenplay nomination for A Separation, too. His new film is being outshined a bit by frontrunners Drive My Car and The Worst Person in the World in the current Oscar steeplechase, but Farhadi creates the finest morality plans for my money and interests.— Arno
