Over its half-century run, Saturday Night Live has inevitably booked some problematic hosts, including Andrew Dice Clay, (misogynist humor); Rudy Giuliani (illegal campaign activities); Robert Blake (tried for murder); Elon Musk (general insufferability and dalliance with neo Nazis) and Donald Trump (attempted overthow of the US government.)
And then there’s O.J. Simpson, who hosted in 1978, toward the end of his record-setting football career, and went on to be very credibly accused of double murder.
Though erased forever from the list of prospective return hosts, Simpson managed to make almost innumerable later appearances on the show, when Norm Macdonald used his position as anchor of “Weekend Update” to pound on Simpson mercilessly for being a vicious murderer (despite his subsequent acquittal).
According to Norm, his quest for humor (and justice) wound up getting him fired from the show. He said the late NBC West Coast President, Don Ohlmeyer, who...

When you think of Ashlee Simpson, there’s probably only one image that comes to mind: her lip-syncing snafu on SNL, in which she went to perform her second song of the night, only for the playback to trigger her first song, “Pieces of Me”. She had been caught going full Milli Vanilli. And to get herself out of the situation, Simpson basically la-la’d her way off stage while doing a jig, leaving her band behind to “play”. Twenty years after the incident, Simpson is remembering the moment as a life lesson. But this may not be the case for others who also made some serious bonehead moves on SNL…
It’s extremely rare for musical guests on SNL to go through gaffes of Ashlee Simpson’s magnitude: musicians like Elvis Costello would instead raise intentional hell by playing whatever song he wanted, while Sinead O’Connor used her moment to send a message.

The diameter of a regulation-size pool ball is 2.25 inches. The average human being can open their mouth between 1.4 and 2.2 inches. So if you're looking to insert the latter into the former, you'll need to be equipped with quite the gaping maw, especially if you're looking to get the billiards orb past your choppers. Why you'd want to do this in the first place is a question for the ages, one that would likely be asked by the admitting physician at your local psychiatric hospital.
One plausible circumstance for an individual to consider shoving a pool ball into their trap would be to win a bar bet. I've seen people do much dumber (and considerably more dangerous) things for as little as a shot of well whiskey. Also, I've seen the episode of "M*A*S*H" starring a pre-fame George Wendt attempting this feat, so you'd be an unoriginal moron to boot.

Actors often turn to directing and often star in their directorial debuts, knowing that their vision will not be questioned. While the performances are talked about, the director is the orchestrator of the film, blending all the moving pieces together. Bradley Cooper's directing debut in "A Star is Born" shows his ability to handle an emotionally taxing role while helping elicit Lady Gaga's performance.
It's no surprise that at a certain point in their careers, actors turn to directing, and they often play a starring role in their directorial debuts. They know themselves as an actor and know that their vision will not be questioned in either role, as they are in charge of so much of the film. While some actors feel that in their first feature, directing alone is difficult enough, many take on the challenge of directing and starring.

In a career that spans nearly six decades, it might be surprising that Sam Elliott has only been nominated for one Oscar: Best Supporting Actor for A Star Is Born. But if producer-director-writer-star Bradley Cooper had gotten his way right off the bat, it would have been Howard Stern co-starring in A Star Is Born. Surely there would have been more farts…
Appearing on The Howard Stern Show, the (former?) shock jock remembered being pitched the role of Bobby Maine, the older brother to Bradley Cooper’s Jackson Maine in A Star Is Born. “You came to me and you said, ‘Hey, you will play my brother…And I went, ‘Whoa, he must think I’m a lot better looking than… They’re gonna be like, ‘What the f*ck, what is it, this movie gonna be like Twins?’ I’m Danny DeVito and he’s Arnold Schwarzenegger or something?...

There was no fooling Jenny McCarthy.
It wasn’t too long after the Hibiscus sang “It’s Raining Men” did the judge on Wednesday’s installment of The Masked Singer correctly identify who was wearing those oversized petals. While the others guessed Ted Lasso‘s Hannah Waddingham (get real!) and Janice Dickinson (as if!), McCarthy seemed to know almost instantly, thanks in large part to the folks she befriended while living in The Big Apple.
Here, the Hibiscus — best known as the Countess Luann De Lesseps from the original cast of The Real Housewives of NYC — talks about failing to outwit McCarthy and what she hoped her song would do for her (non-existent) love life.
Deadline Your costume was pretty gorgeous. It must have been sad to give that up.

Robert Englund is more than just a horror actor, as he has appeared in a variety of genres including dramas, thrillers, action movies, comedies, and even musical films. The Adventures of Ford Fairlane is an action comedy with a film noir mystery twist, and while it may be loud and nasty, comedian Andrew Dice Clay's entertaining performance makes it worth watching for fans of crude humor. A Nightmare on Elm Street remains Englund's best film, showcasing his chilling performance as Freddy Krueger and cementing him as a horror icon. It is genuinely terrifying and grossed over $25 million worldwide.
Robert Englund is best known for his role as Freddy Krueger in the supernatural slasher franchise Nightmare on Elm Street, and the movies from that series dominate the list of his highest-grossing films. However, Englund has had a surprising amount of box office successes outside his most famous slasher film franchise.

With the persona of a profane biker that had no problem being offensive to his crowd, comic Andrew Dice Clay has made a name for himself since the late 1980s on comedy stages all across the United States by borrowing and combining mannerisms from such icons as Sylvester Stallone and Elvis Presley. Riding that fame into other areas of Hollywood, he has also actively starred in many big and small screen productions that span various genres and categories. Most recently though, the former humorist known as The Diceman has bounced right out of an action thriller called God Is a Bullet and into the role of a troubled high school basketball coach in a new movie called Warrior Strong.

Trae Crowder and Corey Ryan Forrester share a lot in common, starting with both being stand-up comedians from the South. They both got big boosts in their careers after posting viral videos — Crowder in 2016 with “The Liberal Network,” in which he delivers scathing political commentary you might not expect to gibe with his accent, and Forrester in 2021 with his alter ego “Buttercream Dream,” a faux professional wrestler who proves to be surprisingly enlightened.
At the same time, the two have very distinct styles of comedy that have complemented each other as they collaborate on several projects. With fellow comic Drew Morgan, there’s the wellRED Comedy Tour and podcast, along with the book “The Liberal Redneck Manifesto.” And Crowder and Forrester also host the Puttin’ on Airs podcast and have just released a new book, “Round Here and Over Yonder: A Front Porch Travel Guide by Two Progressive Hillbillies”

"Just what we need - a guy in an apron." Quiver Distribution has revealed an official trailer for a movie called Warrior Strong, about a basketball coach taking on a job back home in a small town. This will be opening at the end of September if anyone is interested in watching an inspirational sports flick. The story is about Bilal Irving, played by Jordan Johnson-Hinds, a pro player who returns to his Northern Ontario hometown of Dumont (in Canada). He re-connects with his former coach, and conflict ensues as they both struggle to put their egos and complicated pasts aside to mentor the town’s only basketball team. The cast includes Andrew Dice Clay, Sarah Podemski, Stephen Kalyn, Julian Young, Macaulee Cassaday. This actually kinda looks like a Mighty Ducks remake, with basketball instead of hockey. In light of Sinead O’Connor’s death, Morrissey has published an impassioned blog post criticizing what he views as disingenuous tributes to the singer, who died Wednesday at the age of 56. The statement, shared through his official website, positions the reactions to the musician’s death as hypocritical copouts, reading: “She had proud vulnerability … and there is a certain music industry hatred for singers who don’t ‘fit in’ (this I know only too well), and they are never praised until death – when, finally, they can’t answer back.”

Licensing groups representing comedians, including the estates of Robin Williams and George Carlin, will not have to face a suit in sprawling litigation accusing them of monopolizing the market for the rights to the recordings of “superstar” comics.
A federal judge on April 5 dismissed Pandora’s countersuit against Word Collection and Spoken Giants, rejecting antitrust arguments from the audio company faulting the group for its alleged failure to assemble a viable comedy streaming service. U.S. District Judge Mark Scarsi found that the comedians reasonably bargained collectively in the pursuit of higher royalties on top of getting paid for a copyright license that has historically been overlooked.
The dispute revolves around a feud between streamers and comedians pushing to change the landscape of compensation. The comics raise novel licensing theories claiming that they should be paid for writing their jokes, much in the same way that musicians are paid royalties for composing song lyrics.

This article contains John Wick: Chapter 4 spoilers.
Chad Stahelski’s filmmaking career began 30 years ago when he performed some stunts for a direct-to-video ninja flick called Brain Smasher… A Love Story starring Andrew Dice Clay. Some 18 films later, and Stahelski had worked his way up the stunt-person ladder to serve as the stunt double for Neo, aka Mr. Keanu Reeves himself, in The Matrix. It was the beginning a beautiful friendship. He continued to work with Reeves for the second and third Matrix installments, rising to martial arts stunt choreographer’s chair, and then the two reunited for Constantine in 2005. It was a fruitful collaborative relationship, however it would become something else entirely when less than a decade later they partnered again, now as director and star, for Stahelski’s directorial debut, John Wick (2014).
According to Stahelski, neither he nor Reeves thought John Wick would become what it is today.

The f-bomb has been uttered more than a few times, Jimmy Fallon used to co-host the Weekend Update, and there was the whole Ashlee Simpson lip synching snafu. But SNL, overall, goes on as it must.
This doesn't mean every episode has been a party. If you've read Doug Hill and Jeff Weingrad's "Saturday Night: A Backstage History of Saturday Night Live" or Tom Shales and James Andrew Miller's "Live from New York: The Complete, Uncensored History of Saturday Night Live as Told by Its Stars, Writers and Guests," you know there've been behind-the-scenes scraps, scrapes, and scenic malfunctions. Worst of all, there have been multiple lousy guest hosts: stars who didn't get the show or bristled against its collaborative nature. Madonna, Steven Seagal,...

Almost five years after ABC canceled her comedy following her tirade of racist and anti-semitic tweets, Roseanne Barr is returning with the stand-up special Roseanne Barr: Cancel This!, premiering Monday on Fox Nation.
The special debuts the same day on the streaming service as a documentary on her career, Who Is Roseanne Barr?
Barr lost her television show, Roseanne, in May 2018. One of the tweets she posted that day called former President Barack Obama adviser Valerie Jarrett an offspring of the “Muslim Brotherhood & Planet of the Apes.”
Barr followed up with an apology but it was too late: ABC canned her hours later.
Barr comes across as sanguine about the experience, which she blamed on taking the drug Ambien. She told the Los Angeles Times, “I’ve survived. I’ve come out on the other side of it, finally. But it was a witch-burning. And it was terrifying. It was.

During the course of reporting a feature on Peacock’s delightful upcoming mystery series Poker Face, we got far more material from creator Rian Johnson and star Natasha Lyonne than could comfortably fit. So as a bonus, we’re giving you some highlights from the rest of our conversations.
Last week, we had Johnson going deep on the fun and challenges of giving Lyonne’s character Charlie Cale the ability to tell when anyone is lying. That’s where we open things with the actress, who explains that “I hate bullshit.

Pandora has been stopped from advancing an antitrust lawsuit against comedians, including the estates of Robin Williams and George Carlin, accusing them of monopolizing the market for the rights to the recordings of their routines.
A federal judge on Wednesday dismissed Pandora’s countersuit against the comedians and their licensing group Word Collection, finding the audio giant failed to connect the agency’s “impressive but short list of comedians whose work it licenses” to the company’s inability to assemble the “critical mass needed to offer a viable comedy streaming service, especially when it offers recordings by several thousand other comedians.” While she allowed Pandora another chance to fix its antitrust claims, the judge was skeptical it could sufficiently do so.
“The court doubts whether Pandora can allege the necessary facts at this stage,” writes U.S. District Judge Mark Scarsi.

“Ladies and gentlemen, direct from the Roadhouse in Twin Peaks, USA, Miss Julee Cruise!” That was how Andrew Dice Clay, decked out in his leather jacket and gold chain and stupid floppy leather hat, introduced the first musical guest on his sole episode hosting Saturday Night Live. Context makes it slightly less of a fever dream: the original musical guest, Sinéad O’Connor, dropped out in protest of the controversial, misogynistic comedian with whom she was expected to share a bill. Looking for anyone to fill in on short notice, producers managed to get Cruise to drop in and sing “Falling,” the theme song for the hot new show of the year: a bizarre, beguiling murder mystery in small town America called Twin Peaks. It would be another seven years until one of the show’s creators, David Lynch, made Lost Highway; still, that surreal moment on SNL is important to...

Exclusive: Sarah Podemski (Reservation Dogs) and Rosa Blasi (The Thundermans) have signed on to star alongside Andrew Dice Clay and Jordan Johnson-Hinds in Quiver Distribution’s basketball drama Warrior Strong, which Shane Belcourt (Red Rover) is directing from Dan Gordon’s (Wyatt Earp) script.
The film currently in production in Canada centers on basketball protege and egocentric Bilal Irving (Johnson-Hinds), who is asked by school principal Jules (Podemski) to serve as the assistant coach of his former high school team, the Dumont Warriors, alongside Coach Avery Schmidt (Clay). Bilal subsequently learns that true coaching involves far more than simply teaching the game. The question is, will this rag-tag team of misfits have what it takes to put aside their differences and become Warrior Strong?
Blasi will play Vicki, who runs the local diner and slowly helps Coach Schmidt out of grieving for his deceased wife, prompting him to move on with a new relationship.

Seth Rogen has spoken out about his experience as part of the cast of Steven Spielberg’s Toronto Film Festival-bound The Fabelmans.
The actor shares in an upcoming edition of The Process that he wrapped his role in the film, loosely based on the iconic filmmaker’s childhood and upbringing, toward the end of last year. “It was really cool. It was fascinating. It was a really surreal experience for everyone involved,” Rogen said of the film, which has him playing a character inspired by Spielberg’s uncle. “It premieres at Toronto. I’ve literally not seen one frame of it, so it’ll be a bizarre experience.”
In conversation with Pam & Tommy editor Tatiana S. Riegel for Deadline’s video series, Rogen also addressed his “immense” relief in seeing Lily James excel in her transformational turn as the Hulu series’ Pamela Anderson.

“There was a huge sense of wanting to do this real person justice and tell their story honestly, and with great empathy and protecting them,” Pam & Tommy’s Lily James said about playing Pamela Anderson in Hulu’s multi-Emmy-nominated miniseries.
“This felt so personal and became really universal beyond this story that just happened to Pamela, and became about really looking at how we treat women,” she added of the professional and private blows the Baywatch star suffered from a stolen sex tape that lit up the internet in its near infancy.

Singer and songwriter Julee Cruise, who contributed gorgeous and ethereal pop arias to the works of David Lynch, has died at the age of 65.
The frequent Lynch collaborator announced she was battling systemic lupus in 2018, writing on Facebook, “I can…hardly walk. And now it’s difficult to stand…The pain is so bad I cry and snap at people.”
Cruise’s husband Edward Grinnan confirmed Cruise’s death. “She left this realm on her own terms,” he penned on Facebook. “No regrets. She is at peace. I played her [B-52’s song] ‘Roam’ during her transition. Now she will roam forever. Rest in peace, my love.”
Cruise famously sang “Falling,” which was used as the theme song to Lynch’s “Twin Peaks.” The 1989 song featured music by Angelo Badalamenti and lyrics by Lynch, with the director using the instrumental version for the TV series.

Since 1980, UCLA film grads and industry veterans John J. B. Wilson and Mo Murphy have honored the very worst in cinema with the Razzie Awards. Here’s a look back to the worst pictures of the last four decades.

Rotten Tomatoes score: 8%
“Mommie Dearest” (1981)
Faye Dunaway goes full camp as Joan Crawford in a docudrama whose comedy was often unintentional.
Rotten Tomatoes score: 53%
“Inchon” (1982)

Rotten Tomatoes score: 0%
“The Lonely Lady” (1983)

The estates of Robin Williams and George Carlin say Pandora has been “willfully” streaming the late comedians’ recorded routines without proper licensing or even “a fraction of a penny” in compensation to the trailblazing comics’ heirs.
In new copyright infringement suits filed Monday alongside related complaints from fellow funnymen Andrew Dice Clay, Ron White and Bill Engvall, the estates claim the comedians’ works “continue to be exploited, performed, broadcast, and streamed” across Pandora’s platforms without proper permission and without any “substantive response” to warnings from literary agency Word Collections over the last couple years.

One of the most scandalous stories of the 1990s is getting a retelling with Hulu’s “Pam & Tommy.”
The new limited series recounts the wildfire romance between “Baywatch” star Pamela Anderson (Lily James) and Mötley Crüe drummer Tommy Lee (Sebastian Stan), which sparked a media frenzy in the mid-90s. But it also unfolds a lesser-known part of the story – that of the man (played by Seth Rogen) who stole and sold their honeymoon sex tape online, and how the fallout from that crime redefined the meaning of fame and culture in the internet era.
From the performances to the prosthetics, “Pam & Tommy” already has people talking, but where is it streaming, how many episodes are there and can you binge them all at once? Read below for all the details.

David Crosby, Stephen Stills and Graham Nash have issued a statement supporting former bandmate Neil Young in seeking the removal of their music from Spotify in protest of podcaster Joe Rogan.
In the statement posted on Stills’ Twitter page, the trio write, “We support Neil and we agree with him that there is dangerous disinformation being aired on Spotify’s Joe Rogan podcast. While we always value alternate points of view, knowingly spreading disinformation during this global pandemic has deadly consequences. Until real action is taken to show that a concern for humanity must be balanced with commerce, we don’t want our music – or the music we made together – to be on the same platform.”
In his own tweets, Crosby is publicly asking Taylor Swift to join the Spotify protest, writing that that “she is the only one who has successfully kicked Spotifys ass. The only one. I think...

Amid the mounting pressure on Spotify over allegations of Covid misinformation presented on its Joe Rogan Experience podcast, the show’s host made an apology of sorts — “if I pissed you off, I’m sorry” — and garnered support from Dwayne Johnson, Kevin James, Jewel, Jamie Kennedy, Tulsi Gabbard, Troy Aikman, Kat Von D, Domanic Monaghan, Candice Owens, Jillian Michaels, Tomi Lahren and Andrew Dice Clay.
All of those boldfaced names responded in the comments section of the Instagram video that Rogan posted Monday in which he said he just likes to have “interesting conversations with people that have differing opinions,” but admitted he doesn’t “always get it right” and promised to “do better.”
He did so in response to criticism from Neil Young and Joni Mitchell aover what they called “fake information about vaccines” presented on his show. Rogan did not go so far as to characterize views expressed on his show as “fake.

We are living in the age of the redemptionpic. It’s a more specific formula than your standard biopic — or bio miniseries, as the case may be. In such fare as “I, Tonya” and “The People vs. O.J. Simpson,” we have discovered the joy of revisiting a famously well-covered tale, this time with the empathy and the hindsight of modern times. It’s a wildly satisfying cocktail. Current actors impersonate famous people of yore for our pleasure. We get hits of nostalgia via the styling and references of a more innocent era. And we wallow in the smug satisfaction that we are much better people now; we are not, say, as ignorant of sexism or racism or economic disparity as those rubes from a past decade were. We might not come out forgiving O.J. Simpson, but we now appreciate the forces at play — and, man, do we feel for Marcia Clark.

Lily James and Sebastian Stan spent months working together on the set of Hulu’s “Pam & Tommy.” Yet when they recently reunited for a photo session it was a bit jarring to both actors.
“I barely met Sebastian out of Tommy Lee, and he barely met me out of my Pamela Anderson,” James says. “It was really surreal to do even the Variety shoot. We were like, ‘Oh, hey, so that’s what you look like!’”
That’s a testament to the amount of work James and Stan put into studying and emulating the real-life characteristics of Anderson and Lee — and just how well the production’s hair, makeup and wardrobe crews perfected their physical transformation. The look is so spot-on that when Hulu released the first photos of the “Pam & Tommy” stars in May, it quickly went viral on social media. “I was blown away,” Stan says.
