‘A Knights Tale’ Turns 20: Secrets Behind Heath Ledger’s Royal Rock Flick

‘A Knights Tale’ Turns 20: Secrets Behind Heath Ledger’s Royal Rock Flick
Some films are appreciated from the start — the big blockbusters find their audiences or the acclaimed indies find the critical raves right out of the gate. Then there are films that are ahead of their time, that find a bigger audience as they age, where the appreciation might come a little later thanks to DVDs or television viewings.

When “A Knight’s Tale” opened in theaters on May 11, 2001, it wasn’t without fanfare. It featured rising star Heath Ledger in the lead, a writer-director hot off an Oscar win and a lot of buzz for the fact it mixed modern music with its medieval setting. It made its money back, had its fans and was notable for its fresh-faced cast who would go on to prominent careers. But it wasn’t a runaway hit; some were confused by the anachronisms and simply couldn’t get past a film about jousting that

HBO Releases Re-Cut ‘Game of Thrones’ Season 8 Trailer (Video)

HBO Releases Re-Cut ‘Game of Thrones’ Season 8 Trailer (Video)
HBO released a new trailer for the eighth and final season of “Game of Thrones” late Tuesday, in honor of the 10th anniversary — aka the “Iron Anniversary” — of the show’s series premiere.

Yes, a re-cut trailer for the divisive Season 8 may seem like pouring salt in the wounds of fans who didn’t care for those six episodes and how the story ended. Then again, maybe the edit will help block out any bad memories you have about the series finale.

Either way, you can watch the new “Game of Thrones” Season 8 trailer via the video above. But don’t say we didn’t warn you that it could feel like a twist of the Dragonglass knife.

The release of the new trailer is one of many ways in which HBO is celebrating “GoT’s” legacy during its month-long tribute to the David Benioff- and Dan Weiss-created series

White House Farm Episode by Episode Breakdown: True Crime Drama on Netflix

White House Farm Episode by Episode Breakdown: True Crime Drama on Netflix
White House Farm is a dramatisation of the Jeremy Bamber story, a horrible case that saw the killing of five members of the same family including two children. The show came to ITV in 2020 in week by week episodes and has now arrived on Netflix in a full boxset. It’s a compelling look at what happened in 1985 at a remote farmhouse and the man who was convicted of the murders, as well as the dogged cop who wouldn’t settle for the obvious answer despite the negative impact it had on his career.

While elements of the story are fictionalised it’s a series which tries to capture the essence of the main players as well as the backdrop in 80s Britain which might have hampered justice being done. While parochial compared to massive scale Netflix docs like The Night Stalker: Hunt for a Serial Killer, this is still

Adapted from Jo Brand's novel and set to the songs of The Smiths, The More You Ignore Me is a darkly funny coming-of-age story of dysfunctional family life in the 1980s. The film focuses on Gina, a young mother, whose efforts to be a loving mother & wife are undermined by her declining mental health. Things deteriorate once she develops an obsession with the local weatherman, which leads to an admission to the nearby psychiatric hospital. Starring Sheridan Smith as Gina and Ella Hunt (from Anna and the Apocalypse), with Mark Addy, Sally Phillips, Sheila Hancock, and Jo Brand. This looks enjoyable,

Game of Thrones Actress Carice van Houten Blasts "Ungrateful" Fans for Series Finale Backlash

Game of Thrones Actress Carice van Houten Blasts
It's been a year since we said goodbye to one of TV's biggest shows.

It had dragons, lots of battles, and one of the most controversial finales in TV history.

Yes, we're totally talking about Game of Thrones here.

Carice van Houten, who played Melisandre, has aired her thoughts on the reaction to Game of Thrones Season 8 Episode 6, admitting that the criticism of the ending was "sign of how good the show was."

"The fact that some people were so disappointed is because everything before that was so good. So it feels a bit ungrateful," she told Insider, adding:

"You've had such great times and then yeah, you're going to be disappointed because it's not going to go exactly how you anticipated."

Van Houten went on to say that she liked the way the HBO fantasy epic concluded.

Isaac Hempstead Wright's Bran Stark was revealed as the chosen leader

‘Girls Just Wanna Have Blood’ Review

‘Girls Just Wanna Have Blood’ Review
Stars: Amanda Renee, Destyne Marshai, Penny Praline, Gigi Gustin, Bettina Skye, Craig Kelly, Kirk Ponton, David M. Sitbon | Written and Directed by Anthony Catanese

“The only positive thing about you is your HIV status.”

As one would naturally expect, Girls Just Wanna Have Blood opens with a deadly bite of sickly sleaze, but is yet accompanied (and quite often too) with a killer rock soundtrack… almost Giallo-esque. The biters? Trish (Destyne Marshai), April (Penny Praline) and Stacy (Gigi Gustin) – they use seduction to gain the attention of their victims. Essentially, they are the sleazed-up, youthful version of the Sanderson sisters from Hocus Pocus, but vampires instead of witches . If anything serious can be read in this film or taken from it, it is the concept of family and the theme of belonging is ever present. For the unfortunate Jessica (Amanda Renee), the opportunity to belong is exactly how the vampiric

Broadway To Remain Closed Through June 7, Apparently Ending 2019-2020 Season Immediately

Broadway will remain closed through June 7, a two-month extension of the current coronavirus shutdown that would seem to retroactively end the 2019-2020 Broadway season with the March 12 shutdown.

The extension announcement was made today by the Broadway League, the trade group representing theater owners and producers, which had been in discussions with theatrical unions this week.

No mention was made in the League’s announcement of officially closing the Broadway season – theoretically, at least, the 2019-2020 season could be extended but the logistics would seem to make that an unlikely option.

“Our top priority continues to be the health

Tony races upended: ‘Hangmen’ and ‘Who’s Afraid of Virginia Woolf?’ announce Broadway closings
Broadway dimmed the lights and closed up shop on Thursday, March 12, due to the recent coronavirus outbreak in New York. Insiders have since fretted over the fate of many spring shows, some of which had started previews while others were still rehearsing ahead of their first performance. Now we know that two highly anticipated productions will not open this season whenever Broadway shows are allowed to continue.

The first yet-to-open show to list a closing notice was Martin McDonagh’s new play “Hangmen.” The show won the Olivier Award for Best Play in 2016 and went on to a successful Off-Broadway production at Atlantic Theater Company. The Broadway staging starred Mark Addy, Dan Stevens and Tracie Bennett, and began previews on February 28, ahead of a scheduled March 19 opening night. Since the official opening never occurred, “Hangmen” will be a sorely missed presence in this year’s Tony race.
