Despite being one of the most recognizable animated sitcoms on TV, Patrick Warburton revealed that his parents have always absolutely hated “Family Guy” — so much so, that his mother once tried to cancel the show entirely.
“They hate it even more today than they did 25 years ago,” Warburton said in front of a crowd at PaleyFest on Friday.
The panel — which also included creator Seth MacFarlane, Alex Borstein, Seth Green, Mila Kunis, Arif Zahir, Jennifer Tilly and showrunners Rich Appel and Alec Sulkin — was discussing their favorite moments from the show’s 22 seasons on Fox. That’s when Warburton admitted that his family’s spiritual values don’t quite align with the content featured in the adult cartoon.
“You come from a fairly religious family. Are they all huge ‘Family Guy’ fans?” Appel asked initially, which led Warburton to recall his childhood growing up in a devout Christian household.

Mila Kunis is shutting down the possibility of returning to That ’90s Show Season 2, including Ashton Kutcher.
In a new interview, the actress revealed that she and Kutcher would not be reprising their That ’70s Show characters when the sequel series returns to Netflix.
“No,” Kunis told Et when asked if she and her husband Kutcher would return to the sitcom. “I mean, we did our thing, and they introduced our son in the show.”
Kunis, who was on the red carpet of the PaleyFest in L.A. to celebrate Family Guy, where she voices Meg Griffin, was alongside her co-star Seth Green, who interjected to say he would guest star on That ’90s Show.
“I’ve already done an episode of it, and I’m going back to do another one,” Green said.
Green had a recurring role on That ’70s Show, playing Mitch Miller, the nemesis of Topher Grace’s Eric Forman.

Patrick Warburton has voiced Joe Swanson on “Family Guy” since the show’s first season 25 years ago, but the role has never exactly gotten his family’s seal of approval. During a recent PaleyFest LA event celebrating “Family Guy’s” 25th anniversary (via People magazine), Warburton revealed that his parents hate the Seth MacFarlane-created animated comedy and their disdain for the show went so far that Warburton’s mom once tried to get “Family Guy” canceled.
“They hate the show even more today than they did 25 years ago,” Warburton said. “My father was in a monastery for three months. He almost became a monk. … My mother [went] around the neighborhood when I was 13 years old passing out pamphlets on the sins of masturbation, [which] did not get me into the cool crowd. So they hate the show.”

Having grown up in a religious family, Christian movie night was something that happened a lot more often than I care to admit. However, back when I was a teenager, my parents showed up one night with an unusually cool-looking DVD of a movie that had been recommended to them by a church leader. Curious to see what new kind of evangelical propaganda my parents had rented this time, I proceeded to watch the film with them expecting a heavy-handed snoozefest.
To my surprise, I was a few minutes in when Denzel Washington proceeded to dismember a band of cannibal raiders when I realized that this was in fact a real movie. My mom was horrified by the flick’s extreme violence and dark subject matter, but I instantly became a fan of the Hughes Brothers’ faith-based 2010 thriller, The Book of Eli. “Family Guy” creator and executive producer Seth MacFarlane shared insight at PaleyFest on whether or not the Griffin family will ever make it to the big screen in a full-length feature film. The show’s cast also brought the house down Friday with a live table read of upcoming episode “The Edible Arrangement” and nine performances of musical classics from the series as the show celebrates its 25th anniversary.
Without giving too much of the goodness away, the episode the cast did a table read for — written by Travis Bowe — is titled “The Edible Arrangement.” It’s centered on Lois and Stewie bonding after consuming a few of Brian’s weed-infused gummies. The episode features the first time Lois has ever heard Stewie talk, which provides Stewie with the perfect opportunity to tell her all about his old plot to murder her.

Elegant tutus and pink tights. Perfectly taut buns and laced pointe shoes. Beautiful princesses in search of the love of a prince and dying of broken hearts. Grace and poise. This is the world of ballet as most people know it. But ballet has also been used as a critical element in a few select horror films over the years, such as Dario Argento’s Suspiria, Jordan Peele’s Us, and even Radio Silence’s upcoming vampire thriller Abigail. This raises the question: what is there to fear about dances of Sugar Plum Fairies and Little Swans. And nowhere is the world of ballet explored with a deeper or more horrific lens than in Darren Aronofsky’s 2010 psychological thriller Black Swan...

Lionsgate is reportedly planning a new, modern version of Mary Harron’s cult classic American Psycho. More on the project below.
Industry insider Jeff Sneider (via World Of Reel) reports that Lionsgate, the studio behind many horror franchises, is looking to do a remake of its 2000 hit American Psycho.
The original film starred Christian Bale as Patrick Bateman, a successful investment banker and secret serial killer. The film, directed by Mary Harron, was based on a book by Bret Easton Ellis, published in 1991.
Harron’s film tackles heavy themes such as consumer culture and misogyny through Bateman’s character. In one of the most iconic scenes in the film, Bateman and his colleagues get into what is essentially a pissing contest over who has the best reservations in town and who has the most expensive-looking business cards.

Two genre properties are plotting returns from Lionsgate, Jeff Sneider (The Insneider) reports, with one of those projects being a fresh modern take on American Psycho.
“Lionsgate is plotting a new American Psycho movie and showing interest in a remake of The Dead Zone,” Sneider reported in last night’s edition of The Insneider newsletter.
American Psycho, the tale of murderous yuppie Patrick Bateman, began its life as a 1991 novel written by Bret Easton Ellis, which was turned into Mary Harron’s 2000 movie.
Christian Bale of course starred as Patrick Bateman in the hit movie, which still has fans debating a big question to this day: is Bateman really a murderer, or just a psychopath?
The film did spawn a direct-to-video “sequel” with American Psycho 2 in 2002, an initially unrelated story that was turned into an American Psycho sequel. Mila Kunis starred.

Animation mastermind Seth MacFarlane made a name for himself with the creation of "Family Guy." After working on Hanna-Barbera cartoons like "Dexter's Laboratory" and "Johnny Bravo," MacFarlane would bring his irreverent riff on the animated family sitcom to Fox in 1999. Though the series was initially canceled after three seasons, the show's release on DVD resulted in renewed interest from both audiences and the network, and the show has been running for 22 seasons and counting. Since then, MacFarlane has created several more animated hits, including "American Dad" and the "Family Guy" spin-off "The Cleveland Show," but he's also shifted into both live-action TV and movies, which includes the raunchy buddy comedy franchise "Ted."

Exclusive: Saban Films has set the U.S. release date for Knox Goes Away, the thriller marking Michael Keaton’s second feature behind the camera, in which he also stars opposite Al Pacino, James Marsden, Marcia Gay Harden and more. Pic will bow exclusively in theaters nationwide on March 15, having launched out of last year’s Toronto Film Festival.
Scripted by Gregory Poirier (National Treasure: Book of Secrets), Knox Goes Away has Keaton playing John Knox, a hit man attempting to make amends before his recently discovered dementia takes over. Also starring in the pic are Suzy Nakamura, John Hoogenakker, Joanna Kulig, Ray McKinnon and Lela Loren. In addition to Keaton,...
