Nephew of screenwriter Aileen Hamilton
Was set to direct RoboCop 2 (1990), but quit the project over "creative differences" during pre-production and was replaced by Irvin Kershner.
Member of the 'Dramatic' jury at the Sundance Film Festival in 1988.
Retrospective at the 4th Oldenburg International Film Festival in 1997.
