Gabriel M. Bauer
- Editor
- Director
- Additional Crew
After graduating from the Utrecht School of Arts with a Masters Degree in Video and Television, Gabriel co-founded Whisper Media, directing and editing commercials, branded content, as well as innovating advertisement and marketing through vlogging and social video formats - back in the days before Facebook and Twitter. This led to the founding of the all-round service multimedia production company Xolo TV in 2005, which also served as an advertising agency focusing mainly on user-generated online media and viral content marketing.
In 2008 Gabriel went back to being a freelance director and editor working mainly on commercial and branded films. In between projects in order to make a living, he managed to direct some of his own short films such as Biscuits (2011), Flirt (2012) and Drag Junky (2013) and won a few awards in 2012 and 2013. Biscuits (2011) premiered at the Dutch Film Festival, in 2012 his short film Flirt (2012) was finalist in the Green Film Making Competition and together with Drag Junky (2013) it also won best film at ShortCutz.
Gabriel's passion for storytelling and inspiring an audience plays a leading role in the work he aims to do. Stories that inspire, bring hope, that bridge perspectives amongst people giving a better understanding in who we are. This passion has led to some exciting new initiatives, two documentaries and a feature film that are still in pre-production.
Another passion project submerged in 2020 when he co-founded "We Need Dreams", a foundation that facilitates the visualization of dreams. Stories that give us a point on the horizon to aim for and directions of hope to move towards.
