The Weeknd is the latest celeb to pledge their support to wildfire relief efforts in Southern California.

Through his Xo Humanitarian Fund and the World Food Program USA, the 4x Grammy winner (whose real name is Abel Tesfaye) has donated $1 million to the Lafd Foundation, GoFundMe’s Wildfire Relief Fund and LA Regional Food Bank.

He announced his donation after postponing the release party for his sixth studio album Hurry Up Tomorrow to Jan. 31 at Pasadena’s Rose Bowl “out of respect and concern for the people of Los Angeles County.” Much of the city was impacted by the Eaton Fire.

As Southern California attempts to rebuild in the wake of last week’s wildfires, Taylor Swift is stepping up.

On Thursday, the 14x Grammy winner spotlighted some of the organizations she’s donated to who are helping “communities rebuild” in the wake of the fires, urging her 282 million followers to do the same.

“The fires in California have devastated many families, and it’s been heartbreaking to see these stories unfold. So much suffering, loss, and destruction. As so many people embark on some of the most challenging times of their lives, there are also many amazing organizations and groups banding together to help these communities rebuild,” she wrote on her Instagram Story.

As wildfires continue to ravage areas of Los Angeles, thousands have tragically lost their homes, including several Hollywood stars.

The fire started Tuesday in Pacific Palisades, before spreading to parts of Malibu and Santa Monica overnight. Though the Palisades and Eaton fires were at zero containment for days, as of Monday, the Palisades Fire was 14 percent contained, while The Eaton fire in Altadena was roughly one-third contained, according to the California Department of Forestry and Fire Protection.

The Kenneth Fire, which scorched 1,052 acres near the border of Los Angeles and Ventura counties, was fully contained; so was the Hurst fire, which burned 779 acres in the area around Sylmar.

Even though Joshua Jackson’s home was destroyed in the Los Angeles wildfires, the actor says he feels “incredibly lucky.”

“First and most importantly, all the people closest to me affected by the fire are Ok,” he said in a statement shared via his rep. “My daughter, my family, my neighbors all made it out safely. Sadly my beautiful home did not survive the fires. But today, I feel incredibly lucky to be surrounded by the people I love.”

Jackson’s Topanga Canyon home, which he bought in 2001, was one of those destroyed by the Palisades Fire, which broke out Tuesday morning. It has burned through some 23,000 acres.

The Selling Sunset star and Oppenheim Group boss put Los Angeles landlords on blast after one of his clients was a victim of price-gouging, which Oppenheim noted is illegal during a natural disaster.

“This is something I want to discuss because I think it should be exposed, but we’re having landlords taking advantage of the situation,” he told BBC. “I had a client, we sent him to a house that was asking $13,000 a month. He offered $20,000 a month and he offered to pay six months upfront, and the landlord said, ‘No, I want $23,000 a month.’ There are price gouging laws in California, they’re just being ignored right now, and this isn’t the time to be taking advantage of situations, and it’s also illegal to take advantage of a natural disaster.

The Sunset Fire also briefly caused evacuations throughout Hollywood. These fires have resulted in multiple casualties and the destruction of more than 2,000 buildings. Their impact on the entertainment industry has included the delay of the 2025 Oscar nominations by two days.

Per Deadline, multiple television sets have ceased production amid the Los Angeles wildfires. As of the morning of January 9, shows such as Hacks, Grey's Anatomy, Abbot Elementary, S.W.A.T., and NCIS have temporarily shut down production amid uncertain weather conditions and the threat of both the spreading fires as well as smoke inhalation. The latest shows to join the temporary shutdowns are S.W.A.T. and Spider-Noir.

The fires, which erupted on Tuesday afternoon amid a powerful windstorm, have consumed over 29,000 acres of land and forced more than 130,000 people to flee their homes.

The largest blaze, tearing through the Pacific Palisades neighborhood, has burned nearly 12,000 acres, transforming the affluent enclave—home to numerous Hollywood stars—into a charred landscape. Actor Billy Crystal, who had lived in the area with his wife since 1979, described the loss as “heartbreaking.”

Leighton Meester and Adam Brody’s $6.5 million home in Pacific Palisades, purchased in 2019, was among the properties destroyed. “We are heartbroken, but with the love of children and friends, we will get through this,” Crystal said in a statement.

Bass was returning to both a literal and political firestorm after she stepped off a plane following a controversial trip to Ghana to attend the inauguration of President John Dramani Mahama.

With a blaze raging in Pacific Palisades, Bass told Blevins, “No, I’m not going to do that,” when initially confronted by the journalist.

As Blevins continued to question the mayor, she stayed silent and stony-faced. “Have you absolutely nothing to say to the citizens today who are dealing with this disaster?” She did not respond.

Bass was cornered by the camera as she waited to exit the airport building and, during an awkward moment in which she was pursued by Blevins, she was ushered to another door.
