Ready or Not's ending reveals the complex rules of the celebrated horror film's deadly game of hide-and-seek. Directed by Matt Bettinelli-Olpin and Tyler Gillett (Devil's Due), Ready or Not stars Samara Weaving as Grace, a beautiful bride marrying into the fabulously wealthy Le Domas family. Immediately after saying "I do", Grace learns from her new husband Alex (Mark O'Brien) that she must play a game at midnight as part of their eccentric tradition for anyone new joining the family.
A gleefully entertaining black comedy crossed with gruesome survival horror, Ready or Not is layered with a complex set of rules and mythology that is revealed throughout Grace's ordeal with her in-laws from hell. According to the Le Domas dynasty, Grace must survive the night to gain acceptance into the family — as if she would still want to be a part of it after her nightmarish post-wedding ordeal. The sadistic...

The Best Film Ensemble category at the Screen Actors Guild Awards can occasionally be a tough one to predict. Gold Derby’s pundits erroneously thought that 2019’s Once Upon a Time in Hollywood would prevail over Parasite, while 2016’s Hidden Figures was correctly chosen by only one of the editors, experts, or top 24 users — combined. Well, this year’s top race looks to be less of a head-scratcher and more of a coronation, as Gold Derby’s 2025 SAG Awards predictions overwhelmingly favor Wicked to win with 17/10 odds. Talk about popular!
The SAG nominations were announced on Jan. 8, with Wicked leading all other films with five bids: Best Ensemble, Best Actress (Cynthia Erivo), Best Supporting Actress (Ariana Grande), Best Supporting Actor (Jonathan Bailey), and Best Stunt Ensemble. Universal Pictures’ big-budget adaptation of the beloved Broadway stage musical is not expected to win any other trophies with the acting guild, though that’s par for the course,...

Chemistry is a critical factor in any relationship. Without genuine sparks, love connections are tough to come by. But once they’re present, they are impossible to ignore — whether they’re wildly inconvenient or not.
“Inconvenient” would certainly be one way to describe the attraction that develops between a podcaster and a rabbi in Nobody Wants This, the series from writer-creator Erin Foster, starring Kristen Bell and Adam Brody. Inspired by Foster’s own love story, the Los Angeles-set romantic comedy follows Joanne (Bell), who mines her bad dates and short-lived relationships for material, after she meets Noah (Brody), a newly single friend-of-a-friend, at a dinner party. Their connection is instant and definitely mutual, but their interest in one another is immediately complicated. Joanne is agnostic with some emotional baggage. Noah is a rabbi dedicated to his faith who only recently broke up with a longtime partner. Making matters worse,...

Last Friday, stylists-to-the-stars Elizabeth Stewart and Jordan Grossman — who founded the nonprofit Chic Relief during the pandemic — were packing pieces for five personal friends who lost their homes in the fires. The idea was to help them rebuild their closets after they’d lost everything. “And we thought, ‘You know what? We think we can do this for a lot more people!'” says Stewart.
In the days since, Stewart and Grossman have launched an ambitious effort to clothe and assist hundreds of families who lost everything in the Los Angeles fires. They’re not alone. A growing network of stylists, celebrities, Hollywood executives and creatives have joined in (or are working on their own) to extend the reach of relief efforts.

A week after wildfires began ravaging Southern California, Christina Applegate is speaking out against insensitive remarks about the state.
The four-time Golden Globe nominee addressed people who assume “celebrities are walking around running everything” in Los Angeles as she noted “a myriad of groups of humans” have been impacted.
“You know what I have words for? F—ing people who are saying that it’s, you know, good. ‘It’s Hollywood and those stupid Hollywood people’ — like, you’ve gotta be kidding me,” she told friend Jamie-Lynn Sigler on their MeSsy podcast.
“We’re a small portion of the city. I mean, this is a city of people that are working their asses off at fast food chains or, you know, f*cking builders and painters, and it’s a myriad of groups of humans here,” added Applegate. “So to say ‘good riddance’ is real sick, and I’m not liking that whatsoever.

As wildfires continue to ravage areas of Los Angeles, thousands have tragically lost their homes, including several Hollywood stars.
The fire started Tuesday in Pacific Palisades, before spreading to parts of Malibu and Santa Monica overnight. Though the Palisades and Eaton fires were at zero containment for days, as of Monday, the Palisades Fire was 14 percent contained, while The Eaton fire in Altadena was roughly one-third contained, according to the California Department of Forestry and Fire Protection.
The Kenneth Fire, which scorched 1,052 acres near the border of Los Angeles and Ventura counties, was fully contained; so was the Hurst fire, which burned 779 acres in the area around Sylmar.
On Wednesday night, another fire, named the Sunset Fire, broke out in the Hollywood Hills, endangering the iconic landmark the Hollywood Bowl, among other tourist destinations. Hip-hop mogul Sean “Diddy” Combs is behind bars at the Metropolitan Detention Center in Brooklyn following his 2024 arrest. A new report sheds light on the top streaming shows, which is led by a somewhat surprising Netflix drama. Despite the lack of platform-defining marquee shows like Netflix's Wednesday and Prime Video's Reacher, streaming television ended the year on a relative high thanks to the strength of new originals that debuted strong and several returning favorites.
This was evident with Nobody Wants This, the Kristen Bell and Adam Brody romantic comedy that climbed the charts late in 2024 and has been in the awards conversation. On the opposite end of the genre spectrum, Prime Video's Alex Cross adaptation premiered to a big audience in November and seemed to fill the void created by the absence of Reacher. This is in addition to well-established successes like Outer Banks season 4 and a pair of Taylor Sheridan dramas. But none of took the top spot.

Even though Joshua Jackson’s home was destroyed in the Los Angeles wildfires, the actor says he feels “incredibly lucky.”
“First and most importantly, all the people closest to me affected by the fire are Ok,” he said in a statement shared via his rep. “My daughter, my family, my neighbors all made it out safely. Sadly my beautiful home did not survive the fires. But today, I feel incredibly lucky to be surrounded by the people I love.”

As wildfires continue to ravage Southern California, celebrity realtor Jason Oppenheim is calling attention to a shady practice.
The Selling Sunset star and Oppenheim Group boss put Los Angeles landlords on blast after one of his clients was a victim of price-gouging, which Oppenheim noted is illegal during a natural disaster.
“This is something I want to discuss because I think it should be exposed, but we’re having landlords taking advantage of the situation,” he told BBC. “I had a client, we sent him to a house that was asking $13,000 a month. He offered $20,000 a month and he offered to pay six months upfront, and the landlord said, ‘No, I want $23,000 a month.’ There are price gouging laws in California, they’re just being ignored right now, and this isn’t the time to be taking advantage of situations, and it’s also illegal to take advantage of a natural disaster.

With wildfires continuing to wreak havoc on Southern California, Chuck D is denouncing a gross misinterpretation of his work.
The Public Enemy member recently called out fans for using the hip hop group’s 1990 track ‘Burn Hollywood Burn’ with videos of the wildfires as he asked his followers to “Pray 4 LA.”
“‘Burn Hollywood Burn’ is a protest song. Extracted from the Watts rebellion monikered by the magnificent Montague in 1965 against inequality when he said ‘burn baby burn’ across the air,” he wrote in a statement.
“We made mind revolution songs aimed at a one-sided exploitation by an industry,” added Chuck. “Has nothing to dow with families, losing everything they have in a natural disaster. Learn the history. Godspeed to those in loss.”

California has had many wildfires, especially in the last few years. From the Camp Fire in 2018 that destroyed 95% of the structures in Butte County towns Paradise and Concow to the Tubbs Fire in 2017 that ate up portions of Napa, Sonoma, and Lake counties, climate change has made the frequency and ferocity of these events all too familiar, but the flames tearing across the mountains surrounding Los Angeles have shined a new light on the crisis for many. As Los Angeles remains America’s second largest city — and the main hub for the entertainment industry, as well as a home to millions — coverage of the devastation has been constant, with particular focus placed on the celebrities who’ve lost their homes.

With tens of thousands evacuated and over 1,000 homes destroyed, this wildfire is no ordinary brush with danger. Fueled by relentless Santa Ana winds and bone-dry conditions, it’s spreading rapidly. But there’s more to this fiery saga than charred estates. There’s heart, resilience, and an unspoken camaraderie in the face of chaos.

Hacks, S.W.A.T., Abbott Elementary, and more television productions have been paused amid the Los Angeles wildfires. At the time of writing, Los Angeles County is being threatened by multiple wildfires, with the most dangerous being the Palisades Fire in the Pacific Palisades and the Eaton Fire in Altadena. The Sunset Fire also briefly caused evacuations throughout Hollywood. These fires have resulted in multiple casualties and the destruction of more than 2,000 buildings. Their impact on the entertainment industry has included the delay of the 2025 Oscar nominations by two days.
Per Deadline, multiple television sets have ceased production amid the Los Angeles wildfires. As of the morning of January 9, shows such as Hacks, Grey's Anatomy, Abbot Elementary, S.W.A.T., and NCIS have temporarily shut down production amid uncertain weather conditions and the threat of both the spreading fires as well as smoke inhalation. The latest shows to join the temporary shutdowns are S.W.A.T. and Spider-Noir.

Melissa Rivers revealed during an interview with CNN’s Kaitlan Collins that she managed to save her mother Joan Rivers’ prized Emmy award before her house burned down in the L.A. fires (via Entertainment Weekly). Joan won the Emmy for outstanding talk show host in 1990 thanks to her work on “The Joan Rivers Show,” which helped establish the comedian as a television icon. She also posthumously won a Grammy in 2015 for best spoken work album, although Melissa only confirmed she saved the Emmy statue.
“I kind of had a mental checklist. I made sure that we got passports, birth certificates, medication, clothing,” Melissa Rivers said about evacuating from her home in the Pacific Palisades area. “I just was out shopping for clothes. It started to hit me, we literally just had what was on our backs.”
“Luckily, my office which is in — was in — my home, [I grabbed] whatever was there,...

Los Angeles, Jan 9 – Devastating wildfires raging across Los Angeles have destroyed nearly 2,000 buildings, including homes belonging to celebrities like Billy Crystal, Paris Hilton, and Leighton Meester. The fires, which erupted on Tuesday afternoon amid a powerful windstorm, have consumed over 29,000 acres of land and forced more than 130,000 people to flee their homes.
The largest blaze, tearing through the Pacific Palisades neighborhood, has burned nearly 12,000 acres, transforming the affluent enclave—home to numerous Hollywood stars—into a charred landscape. Actor Billy Crystal, who had lived in the area with his wife since 1979, described the loss as “heartbreaking.”
Leighton Meester and Adam Brody’s $6.5 million home in Pacific Palisades, purchased in 2019, was among the properties destroyed. “We are heartbroken, but with the love of children and friends, we will get through this,” Crystal said in a statement.

“The lady’s not for talking.”
That was the conclusion of Sky News journalist David Blevins after he confronted LA Mayor Karen Bass over her handling of the wildfire disaster at an airport on Wednesday.
Bass was returning to both a literal and political firestorm after she stepped off a plane following a controversial trip to Ghana to attend the inauguration of President John Dramani Mahama.
With a blaze raging in Pacific Palisades, Bass told Blevins, “No, I’m not going to do that,” when initially confronted by the journalist.
As Blevins continued to question the mayor, she stayed silent and stony-faced. “Have you absolutely nothing to say to the citizens today who are dealing with this disaster?” She did not respond.
Bass was cornered by the camera as she waited to exit the airport building and, during an awkward moment in which she was pursued by Blevins, she was ushered to another door.
