Clara Calamai was born on September 7, 1909 in Prato, Tuscany, Italy. She was an actress, known for Deep Red (1975), The Adulteress (1946) and Obsession (1943). She was married to Leonardo Bonzi. She died on September 21, 1998 in Rimini, Emilia-Romagna, Italy.

In a very short scene of La cena delle beffe (1941), Calamai shows her breasts. It was a sensation for Italian audiences.
Today, she is best remembered for two roles: the ill-fated female lead, Giovanna, in Luchino Visconti's proto-noir Obsession (1943) and the eccentric matriarch, Marta, in Dario Argento's giallo-horro Deep Red (1975).
Had 2 daughters with her ex-husband Leonardo Bonzi.
