There’s change on the high seas of Banijay.
Christian Sarabia, President of 51 Minds Entertainment, the production company behind Bravo hit Below Deck, is stepping down from the Banijay Americas-owned business.
Julie Pizzi, President of fellow Banijay-backed firm Bunim/Murray, will add overseeing 51 Minds to her responsibilities running the Real World producer.
It is the latest change for the group; earlier this year, Cris Abrego, who founded 51 Minds, stepped down as CEO of Banijay Americas with Ben Samek taking over that role and Abrego remaining as Chairman. There’s been much speculation about Abrego’s own role in recent months.
Sarabia has been with 51 Minds for many years, having produced series such as The Surreal Life and Flavor of Love. He took the reins at the company in 2014 after Abrego became one of the top execs at the-then titled Endemol North America and the departure of co-founder Mark Cronin.

Below Deck executive producer Mark Cronin recalled that the season 1 crew essentially quit following a charter guest drug bust during the first episode. However, season 1 stew Sam Orme remembers the instance very differently.
Bathrobe-clad photographer, Johnny Eyelash and friends were bounced when stew Kate Held found what appeared to be cocaine in one of the guest cabins. Cronin told Showbiz Cheat Sheet that after Eyelash was kicked off the boat, the yacht crew was leery of production.
“The whole cast quit,” he said. “They all basically said, ‘That’s it, we are not doing the show. If you guys are putting our licenses at risk by putting drugs on this boat, we quit.’”
Sam Orme thought the ‘Below Deck’ crew just got a vacation

Captain Lee Rosbach has always had more of a hands-off approach with his chef on Below Deck. But he fired one chef when his dirty oven seemed to be behind a late-night kitchen fire.
Rosbach only fired one chef and worked with two chefs for multiple seasons. Who were Rosbach’s chefs during his 10 years on Below Deck?
Chef Ben Robinson was Captain Lee’s ‘Below Deck’ chef for 3 1/2 seasons
Robinson helped to kick off Below Deck Season 1 and executive producer Mark Cronin initially thought perhaps Robinson was going to be the focal point of the series.

Below Deck, shows what it’s like to be a super yacht crew member during the busy charter season. The crew members, known as “yachties,” put in long hours at work and late nights on the boat’s party deck. This results in many love triangles, family feuds, and general mayhem.
The show’s 2013 debut on Bravo piqued audiences’ interest in maritime drama, and they have eagerly awaited new episodes ever since. When Captain Sandy Yawn sacked fan favorite Hannah Ferrier in season 5 of Below Deck Mediterranean, the program made waves as the first spinoff of the popular Bravo show.
After that, Bravo announced it would air two spinoffs of the popular reality program Below Deck. Below Deck Down Under and Below Deck Adventure are the newest additions to the series.

Below Deck hair and makeup artist, Natalie Castillo also worked on the production side of the series and gave Showbiz Cheat Sheet a peek behind the curtain.
Castillo often worked closely with the cast, running errands if a crew member needed hairspray while on charter, for example. But she also managed the crew when they weren’t on the boat, usually ensuring that they were safe.
‘Below Deck’ production has to keep the crew apart before the season begins
Every season begins with the crew arriving onboard the superyacht, one by one. The captain almost always waits for each crew member and Castillo shared how production gets each crew member to arrive alone.
Castillo said as the cast arrives on location, she was in charge of keeping them separated and sequestered.

Exclusive: Bravo Media is expanding its highly rated Below Deck franchise with Below Deck Sailing Vessel (working title), a new series from Below Deck and Below Deck Mediterranean producers 51 Minds.
Below Deck Sailing Vessel (wt) is described as a new kind of Below Deck, featuring luxury sailing yachts, considered the queens of the yachting world, as the charter of choice.

Excitable clock-wearing Public Enemy hype man Flavor Flav may have been the marquee name on VH1’s hugely popular “Celebreality” series Flavor of Love. But it’s doubtful the bonkers Bachelor parody of a reality show would have taken off without the diverse assortment of batshit-crazy women, going by such nicknames as Nibblz, Toasteee, Bootz, and Deelishis, who vied for the rapper’s affections each week. As a parting gift to readers disappointed that the 2006–08 ratings juggernaut got knocked out of the Reality Rumble bracket in the first round, Vulture spoke with Flavor of Love co-creator Mark Cronin and casting associate Douglas Howington to get behind-the-scenes intel on how the show’s many memorable and memorably named cast members found their way into our living rooms. When you were casting for the first season, and there was no show on the air yet, how did you pitch the show to potential contestants?...

On the heels of Daniel Laikind being tapped to succeed Charlie Corwin as CEO of Original Media, Cris Abrego has found his own successor for 51 Minds. In October, 51 Minds CEO Abrego and Original Media CEO Corwin were named Co-Chairmen and Co-ceo of Endemol North America. Endemol acquired Abrego and Mark Cronin’s 51 Minds in 2008, after Corwin’s Original Media was added in 2007. Christian Sarabia now has been named President of 51 Minds. Cronin, the Co-Founder of 51 Minds Entertainment, exits his Managing Director position to launch a new production company, Little Wooden Boat Productions. Cronin will continue to serve as Executive Producer on several projects that he sold and shepherded at 51 Minds, including Below Deck (Bravo), Heroes of CosPlay (Syfy), and Mind of a Man (Gsn). “Mark is one of the most prolific producers in the unscripted space,” Abrego said. “His creative instincts have been the driving force behind his extraordinary success.

Endemol USA is taking a page from FremantleMedia North America’s playbook. After Fmna turned to subsidiary Original Prods. to find a successor to topper Cécile Frot-Coutaz in Thom Beers, Endemol is doing the same, naming 51 Minds CEO Cris Abrego and Original Media CEO Charlie Corwin as Co-Chairman and Co-ceo of Endemol North America, replacing departing CEO David Goldberg. The two will oversee Endemol’s North American operations, which include their respective companies as well as fellow subsidiaries Authentic Entertainment, Endemol Studios and True Entertainment. Endemol acquired Abrego and Mark Cronin’s 51 Minds in 2008, while Corwin’s Original Media was added in 2007. While Endemol has recently made inroads in daytime and scripted programming with Steve Harvey, AMC’s Hell On Wheels and Low Winter Sun, the company is yet to find new tentople reality shows to join veterans Big Brothers and Wipeout.

Don't tell these sci fi-fantasy geeks to "Get a life!" They already have one — and it's making them pretty damn famous. Syfy's new reality series Heroes of Cosplay, premiering Tuesday at10:30 pm/9:30c, will follow nine uberobsessed cosplayers — that's short for "costume players" — as they travel the comic-book conventions of America dressed as their favorite characters from film, TV, anime and video games. Their costumes are elaborate, self-made and, in some cases, quite erotic.
"If you assume the world of cosplay is filled with social misfits confused about the priorities in life, you're in for a surprise," says executive producer Mark Cronin.

Our favorite bad girl screenwriter, Diablo Cody is making news. She’s hard at work on a brand new pilot for TBS called Me Time With Diablo Cody. The edgy talent is usually doing her business behind the scenes, but this project puts her in front of the camera as a show host. Steve Agee will assist.
Agee is a writer, actor and comedian who appeared as Steve Myron on the Comedy Central series The Sarah Silverman Program. He has written for Jimmy Kimmel Live! and also acted for 2 Broke Girls and The League. Deadline reports, he’ll next appear in Cody’s pilot as her co-host and all around sidekick.
What is Me Time With Diablo Cody? good question. Agee also will serve as a writer on the project, which is said to present Cody’s two cents on just about everything Hollywoodland. She’ll tackle celebrities, news and pop culture.
