Disney’s “Space Mountain” has been reignited.
Josh Appelbaum and André Nemec, whose credits including “Mission: Impossible – Ghost Protocol” and the two Michael Bay-produced live-action “Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles” films, have been hired to write a new screenplay based on the beloved Disney Parks attraction, TheWrap has learned.
Jonathan Eirich from Rideback is producing the feature, along with Joby Harold (who wrote an earlier iteration of the project) and Tory Tunnell of Safehouse. Ryan Halprin of Rideback is executive producing.
The original Space Mountain opened as the centerpiece of the Magic Kingdom’s version of Tomorrowland in 1975, part of the expansive Walt Disney World resort outside of Orlando, Fla. The ride is known for its strikingly graphic design — comprised of a cone and spires that jut heavenward (and can be seen as part of John Hench’s early concept art) — and its thrilling, coaster-in-the-dark aesthetic. A well-meaning yet generic environmental activism documentary with sporadic insights, “Common Ground” opens with a series of stars including Laura Dern, Jason Momoa, Donald Glover, Woody Harrelson and Rosario Dawson as they write apologetic letters to future generations. Their words claim to reveal harsh truths that boil down to, “We have failed you” and “We should have done better.” This parade of famous voices is a curiously trite start for a film driven by facts and stats for the most part. It’s as if co-directors Joshua and Rebecca Harrell Tickell (“Kiss The Ground”) seek instant credibility through empty-calorie celebrity activism, when they should just let the experts speak about the film’s main focus: ethical regenerative farming. And once they do, “Common Ground” proves it has some meaty arguments to offer, despite feeling like a sunny infomercial on occasion.
The most fundamental of those arguments goes like this: In...

Rob Zombie has said that for every one film project of his that moves forward, there are five potential projects that fall by the wayside. We haven’t heard of quite that many unmade Rob Zombie movies, but we have heard of several over the years that never got off the ground… and unfortunately, most of them sounded pretty interesting. A little over a year ago, Zombie had said he didn’t know what his next movie is going to be, but he did know what it’s not going to be: he won’t be continuing his Firefly franchise, and he doesn’t want to make a sequel to The Munsters (which was poorly received). So while he figures out his next cinematic move, we we have put together a list of Rob Zombie Movies We Want To See!

“Do I look like a monk?” Chloë Sevigny asks the room.
We’re in the Lower East Side apartment of Chris Peters, the head designer of the fashion label Puppets and Puppets, and Sevigny is trying on the sequined gown she plans to wear at a fundraiser for Tibet House that night. But she worries the outfit’s long sleeve, which begins at the hem, drapes around Sevigny’s neck like a scarf, and extends to her left wrist, evokes the robes favored by the Buddhist figures whose traditions the organization highlights. As the sun beats through Peters’ window, cascading along the dress’s spangles and filling the room with reflected light, Sevigny is more reminiscent of a disco ball than the Dalai Lama.
Peters quickly reassures her. “I wouldn’t say it feels monastic. It’s an odd kind of ’30s glam. You look incredible.”

After Lucasfilm announced Ahsoka Season 2, the cast of the Star Wars Disney+ series acknowledged the "exciting" news but also pled ignorance.
Set within the Disney+ MandoVerse, Ahsoka was not just another chapter in Dave Filoni and Jon Favreau's streaming narrative but a continuation of both The Clone Wars and Star Wars Rebels animated series.
Led by Rosario Dawson as Anakin Skywalker's former Jedi Padawan, Ahsoka's cast was tasked with bringing characters from Star Wars Rebels characters into live-action years after the events of the animated show.

There would be no "Star Wars" without Akira Kurosawa. The fabled Japanese filmmaker was a massive influence on creator George Lucas and his vision for a galaxy far, far away, with his period adventures "Seven Samurai" and especially "The Hidden Fortress" informing so much of the Jedi's aesthetics and philosophy, as well as the plot and characters of "A New Hope." Creatives on more recent "Star Wars" projects have only continued to mine inspiration from Kurosawa's oeuvre, with Rian Johnson drawing pretty explicitly from the director's classic "Rashomon" for the perspective-shifting flashbacks to Luke Skywalker's confrontation with his nephew Ben Solo in "The Last Jedi."
For "Ahsoka," a spinoff of "The Mandalorian" and live-action sequel to his animated series "Star Wars Rebels," creator Dave Filoni -- who's since been promoted to chief creative officer of Lucasfilm -- looked to another Kurosawa film entirely for the show's most fantastical outing yet.

The first season of "Ahsoka" on Disney+ delivered plenty for longtime "Star Wars" fans to enjoy, particularly those who love the animated shows. Dave Filoni, the creative force behind "The Clone Wars" and "Star Wars Rebels," was finally able to bring many of his creations to life in live-action. One of the most important things that the show's first season brought to life was the World Between Worlds, a hugely important plot device from the final season of "Star Wars Rebels." But making the mythical realm a tangible thing was no easy task.

Due to the SAG-AFTRA strike, Mary Elizabeth Winstead had to let two exciting projects in Ahsoka and Scott Pilgrim Takes Off speak for themselves, but now she’s finally looking back on her rather significant 2023.
In early 2022, Winstead officially joined the Star Wars galaxy in order to bring the beloved animated character of General Hera Syndulla to live-action for the first time. When the offer originally came in from Ahsoka creator Dave Filoni, it allowed Winstead the opportunity to reunite with Rosario Dawson 16 years after they last shared the screen in Quentin Tarantino’s Death Proof. It also presented her the chance to join the storied franchise that she already had a great deal of familiarity with, as her life partner, Ewan McGregor, has been playing Obi-Wan Kenobi since the late ‘90s and had just wrapped his own eponymously titled Star Wars Disney+ series.

Lucasfilm is currently in development on Ahsoka Season 2, the Star Wars studio announced on Tuesday, January 9. Ahsoka Season 1 debuted its season finale on October 3. Billed as a mini series, it wasn’t clear if the Rosario Dawson-led show would continue its story. Now, it’s official that it will. The apprentice has become the master... and unlike the Sith, he didn't have to stab him in the back with his lightsaber to do so! Yes, nearly 20 years after George Lucas recruited a humble storyboard artist and animation assistant director by the name of Dave Filoni to work with him at the newly launched Lucasfilm Animation, Filoni has now been named the chief creative officer at Lucasfilm. And if you were expecting him to just sit around on his hands after almost five years without a new "Star Wars" movie, well, guess again.
As part of today's announcement that Filoni's fellow "The Mandalorian" executive producer Jon Favreau is helming a film spinoff titled "The Mandalorian & Grogu," the official Star Wars website has confirmed that Filoni is "currently developing" a second season of his "Mandalorian" spinoff series "Ahsoka." Another year bites the dust, friends. Another year where I've watched too many horror movies, and now it’s time to face the impossible task of sorting the best into a ranked list. Ten slots aren’t enough to capture the massive breadth of worthwhile horror titles you should consume. I won’t do it, dammit. I can’t.

Ahsoka star Eman Esfandi called his own shot.
When Rosario Dawson’s Ahsoka Tano first appeared in live-action on The Mandalorian season two and voiced her intention to find the villainous Grand Admiral Thrawn (Lars Mikkelsen), Ezra Bridger’s own jump to live-action immediately became a near-inevitability for die-hard Star Wars fans. The already-great odds increased even more when Dawson’s spinoff series, Ahsoka, was announced shortly thereafter in December 2020, with longtime Star Wars creator and George Lucas apprentice Dave Filoni at the helm. This meant that Filoni would likely introduce not only Ezra and Thrawn into the live-action fold, but also plenty more of his beloved animated characters from the likes of Star Wars Rebels and Star Wars: The Clone Wars.
As a result, the role of the long-lost Jedi, Ezra, became one of the most coveted parts in town, and six months before the casting process even started,...

"Ahsoka" represented a pretty big moment for many "Star Wars" fans when it arrived on Disney+ earlier this year. Ahsoka Tano originally debuted in "The Clone Wars" and, despite a rocky start, has become one of the most beloved characters in the entire franchise. The live-action series represented a full-circle moment on that journey as the character not only got a show, but a big-budget, live-action show on one of the biggest streaming services in the business. It turns out that creator Dave Filoni originally envisioned it as a movie.
Speaking with IGN ahead of the show's premiere, Filoni explained that he spent a long time thinking about how to bring Ahsoka Tano to live-action. Rosario Dawson debuted as the character on "The Mandalorian" before getting her own spin-off. But when Filoni first was thinking about all of this, movies were still the only vehicle for live-action "Star Wars." Here's...

Rosario Dawson is going to take on a special new role in 2024 – grandmother!

She told Page Six, “It’s very exciting.”
Rosario adopted her daughter Isabella, 21, back in 2014 when she was 11 years old. At the time, the young girl was in foster care and Rosario knew her biological mother, so she decided to give her a permanent home.
“It wasn’t even a question; it was clearly meant to be,” Rosario told Health magazine in 2021.
While Rosario has kept Isabella out of the spotlight for most of her life, she did share photo of her on Father’s Day 2021 to thank her stepfather for being a great grandfather.
