Before he became an actor, he worked as a pinsetter at a Chicago bowling alley, a mail carrier for the ABC network, a hunting guide in Mexico, and a railroad brakeman. He served with the Army Corps of Engineers.
None of this fireman, policeman, cowboy and baseball player business. Since I appeared in the senior class play at Parker High School, in Chicago, I knew acting was for me.
