The London Action Fest’s weekend events kicked off on Saturday at Picturehouse Central with a screening of Chia-Liang Liu’s phenomenal The Legend of Drunken Master (Aka Drunken Master 2), a highly sought action classic that’s overdue a remastered Blu ray release.
Following this was the first panel event: The World in Action- Celebrating Asian Action Cinema with Joey Ansah, Mike Fury (journalist and author) and Jude Poyer.
The guests talked about what drew them to Asian cinema, citing early exposure to ninja films on VHS, a martial artist Pe teacher, and sneaking into late night screenings of Hong Kong films, in Soho.
A sequence from Sammo Hung’s Dragons Forever, starring Jackie Chan, was then presented, and the panel discussed why the film is so special, citing hand-to-hand combat and frenetic editing. They also talked about how Hong Kong cinema was better than American action films of the time,...

Exclusive: Greenwich Entertainment has acquired North American distribution rights to Darryl Jones: In the Blood, Eric Hamburg’s feature documentary about the bass player who has rocked with the Rolling Stones since replacing the retired Bill Wyman as well as playing with the likes of Miles Davis, Sting, Madonna and more. The distributor will release the pic in theaters October 7.
The deal comes after the bio-doc world premiered at the Rome Independent Film Festival and won a documentary award at the Oxford International Film Festival.
Darryl Jones: In the Blood, which marks Hamburg’s feature directorial debut, zooms in on the evolution of Jones, who grew up on the South Side of Chicago and was introduced right away to music and the politics of race — both played a role in his maturation as a musician and activist. The result is a deep-dive look at music and racism in America.

We finally got our first look at Ben Affleck’s Batman in The Flash movie, thanks to photos taken from the film’s Glasgow, Scotland set, where the Dark Knight could be seen zooming through George Square and the surrounding streets on a brand new set of wheels. The scene in question, which actually featured stunt double Rick English in the new Batsuit and not Affleck, seemed to be a daytime chase through the streets of Gotham City, with a humvee shooting back at Batfleck’s heavily armored ride.
English, who was also a stunt double for Robert Pattinson in Matt Reeves’ The Batman, can be seen riding the new Batcycle (the official name of the vehicle hasn’t been announced yet) in the set photo below:

Colin Firth plays a suave intelligence agent who grooms a teen delinquent (British newcomer Taron Egerton) into a superspy in Kingsman: The Secret Service (out Oct. 24). The film — co-starring Michael Caine and a villainous Samuel L. Jackson — is based on the beloved comic book by Kick-Ass creator Mark Millar, itself a riff on Millar and director Matthew Vaughn’s mutual love of old espionage flicks.
“We missed all the spy movies we loved as kids, whether it was Bond or ‘In Like Flint.’ They had a sense of humor as well as being a thriller,” says Vaughn, who dreamed up...

Rick English has been a member of the British Stunt Register since 2001 and has been fortunate enough during that time to work on some of the world's biggest movies with the greatest directors and stunt coordinators, doubling actors such as Nicolas Cage, Gerard Butler, Hugo Weaving, Jason Flemyng, Stellan Skaarsgard, Michael Fassbender, Mark Strong and Alan Rickman. Coming from a background of Martial Arts and Motorcycle Racing, Rick has now developed into a successful all round stunt performer, and continues to push himself to develop his skills further and deliver the best possible performance every time. What exactly did your job as a stunt double for Nicolas Cage in Ghost Rider: Spirit of Vengeance involve? I was over the moon when I got the call for Grsov. I don't care what some other people say. I really liked the first movie. I wasn't that familiar with the comic character so...

Kind enough to take the time out of his busy schedule to answer my questions about his work on Captain America: The First Avenger, Ghost Rider: Spirit of Vengeance and The Dark Knight Rises, stuntman Rick English gives us a fascinating and unique insight behind the scenes of all three movies, as well as revealing plenty of new details about what he did on each of them. You can learn more about Rick and his work by clicking to head on over to his official site Here, and follow him on Twitter Here. We’re seeing more Nicolas Cage in action. Ain’t It Cool News had a news broadcast video overseas of Cage, Idris Elba, Violante Placido and stuntman Rick English climbing at an archeological site. In the sequel, Johnny Blaze (Ghost Rider) is hiding in remote Eastern Europe with his curse. However, he is recruited by a sect to defeat the Devil, who wants to take over his mortal son’s body on the boy’s birthday. The film is directed by Mark Neveldine and Brian Taylor. It will be released on February 17 next year. So what are they doing? Maybe it’s supposed to be the site of Dracula’s castle in Romania? Your guess is as good as mine. Check out the video below. The vid shows set footage inter-cut with footage from the previous Ghost Rider as well as scenes from a completely different martial arts/ninja type flick. I'm sure if we had a clue what the broadcaster was saying it would all make sense. Probably. Anyway, here we have Cage, along with cast members Idris Elba, Violet Placido and his stuntman Rick English on the Spirit Of Vengeance set.. The story sees Johnny Blaze, aka Ghost Rider (Nicolas Cage) hiding out in remote Eastern Europe and struggling to repress his curse. Blaze is recruited by a sect to take on the Devil, who wants to take over his mortal son’s body on the boy’s birthday. The movie is directed by Mark Neveldine and Brian Taylor and is set to hit theatres February 17th 2012.

Holy Toledo! Marvel Movies has added a bunch of photos from the set of Ghost Rider: Spirit of Vengeance in Turkey to their Facebook page! Aren.t you pumped?! Yeah, neither are we. The team behind this vastly unwanted sequel has a huge uphill battle to climb after the monstrosity that was the original, and simply slapping on a directorial team that may know what they.re doing - in the form of Crank directors Mark Neveldine and Brian Taylor - into the driver seat isn.t going to solve all the problems. It will be hard to get our hopes up until we see some actual footage. Until then, feel free to peruse the cache of behind the scenes photos of Nic Cage signing autographs, doing dance moves, sitting on the Vmax, and stunt double Rick English taking care of all the hard work. Here.s a few new...

Reader Edward M. sent me a link today of some set pics from the currently shooting sequel to Ghost Rider, Ghost Rider: Spirit of Vengeance. The pictures show Nicolas Cage and his stunt double Rick English on Nic's badass motorcycle. I usually hate doing set pic news pieces because you really don't get anything from them, but it's a slow news day and I really, really don't wanna start writing a set visit report for another movie. I'd rather sit on my ass and play Batman: Arkham Asyum (finally bought it).So take a look at the set pics below. Click on any of them to see the rest. They lead you to one of those damned alien language websites again. I'm telling you, the aliens are really ramping up their website count. Won't be long before the invasion begins... Cage's wife is kinda cute... Source: libertatea...

According to reports from the UK's Pinewood Studios, stunt rigging and wire-work specialists Extreme Locations Rigging supplied equipment for the action unit re-shoot of Universal's upcoming remake of The Wolf Man @ Pinewood. Extreme Locations Managing Director Robin Earle provided high-end technical stunt rigs, working alongside veteran filmmaker/stunt coordinator Vic Armstrong. The re-shoot relied heavily on stunt wire work/puppetry, with each gag requiring speedy rigging and de-rigging, culminating in a major sequence by Rick English. Budgeted at $85 million, The Wolf Man, set in the late 1880's, keeps the plotline of the original 1941 Universal feature, focusing on 'Lawrence Talbot' (Benicio del Toro) who meets up with his father (Anthony Hopkins) following the death and disappearance of his brother. The film details events during Lawrence's past that led to his estrangement from his father, with the setting changing from the Welsh village of 'Llanwelly' to the English village of Blackmore and the city of London.
