‘Chernobyl’s Fares Fares To Star In Warner Bros’ Swedish Drama ‘Partisan’ For Svod Service Viaplay
Chernobyl and Westworld star Fares Fares is to star in Swedish drama Partisan produced by Warner Bros’ local division.

Partisan was ordered by Nordic Entertainment Group’s streaming service Viaplay and will air in 2020.

The series sees Fares, who also appeared in Rogue One: A Star Wars Story, play Johnny, who finds himself in Jordnära, a secluded Swedish village home to an idyllic community – at least on the surface.

The five-part series is directed by Amir Chandin (Hassel) and produced by Johanna Wennerberg for Warner Bros. International Television Production Sverige with Fares as creative producer. Filming is already underway.

Fares said, “I’ve been wanting to do something in Swedish, and Amir Chandin and I have tried to work together for a long time. After only a couple of discussions about Partisan there was no doubt – I just had to do this.”

Jared Harris, star of HBO’s hit mini-series Chernobyl, has discussed the challenges of portraying the real-life figure of Valery Legasov.

There is no question that HBO’s historical min-series Chernobyl has turned into quite the hit, with the show receiving critical acclaim from all corners. The show stars Jared Harris as Valery Legasov, one of the men tasked with fixing the crisis – a real-life catastrophic nuclear incident in the Soviet Union during the 80s.

Jared Harris, in a recent interview with The Cheat Sheet, discussed some of the biggest challenges portraying Legasov, saying preparing for the role was no easy task as the Soviets simply erased much of the historical record, there weren’t even audio tapes like in the show:

Ruben Östlund’s next feature Triangle Of Sadness is being lined up for a 2020 shoot, and will be his first film fully in the English language.

Triangle of Sadness was one project on the slate of Film I Vast, Scandinavia’s leading film funD presented in Cannes yesterday.

Nuclear disaster drama Chernobyl gets an extended trailer

HBO and Sky have released an extended trailer for Chernobyl, the upcoming drama series based upon the most catastrophic nuclear accident in history – the 1986 Chernobyl Nuclear Power Plant disaster.

Chernobyl is a tale of lies and cowardice, of courage and conviction, of human failure and human nobility. The mini-series focuses on the heart-breaking scale of the nuclear plant disaster that occurred in Ukraine in April 1986, revealing how and why it happened, and telling the shocking, remarkable stories of the heroes who risked their lives to save others.”

Chernobyl premieres on May 7th and features a cast that includes Jared Harris, Stellan Skarsgard, Emily Watson, Paul Ritter, Jessie Buckley, Barry Keoghan, Ralph Ineson, Adrian Rawlins, Con O’Neill and Fares Fares.

This full trailer for HBO’s ‘Chernobyl’ will be the most terrifying thing you see all day

Forget “Us.” You’d be hard-pressed to find something more frightening than HBO’s full trailer for its upcoming miniseries “Chernobyl.”

Unlike the teaser trailer released a few weeks ago, the new full-length trailer (watch above), which dropped Thursday, offers a closer look at the performances at the center, and the devastation and aftermath caused by the unimaginable 1986 nuclear accident in Ukraine (then part of the Ussr).

“I’m pleased to report that the situation in Chernobyl is stable,” Boris Shcherbina (Stellan Skarsgard), the Soviet deputy prime minister and chairman of the high commission on the accident, reassures a room full of worried faces (and himself?) in the beginning of the clip. “In terms of radiation, I’m told it’s the equivalent of a chest X-ray.”

HBO has released a full trailer for their upcoming five-part miniseries called Chernobyl and it will tell the tragic untold true story of the most horrific nuclear meltdown disaster in history. This looks like it’s going to be a great and seriously intense series. This looks like it was an absolute nightmare.

On April 26th, 1986, there was an explosion at the Chernobyl Nuclear Power Plant in Ukraine, Soviet Union, and that explosion caused the released of radioactive material across Belarus, Russia, and Ukraine and as far as Scandinavia and western Europe. Chernobyl dramatizes this story of “one of the worst man-made catastrophes in history — and the sacrifices made to save Europe from unimaginable disaster.”

‘Chernobyl’ Trailer: HBO Series Delves Into the Madness of the Worst Man-Made Catastrophe

Usually, historical stories of unforeseen tragedies have a hero who is ready to come and save the day. Given what we now know about the nuclear meltdown that led to the new HBO series “Chernobyl,” that moment of triumph will certainly be harder to come by.

After the physical and psychological tumult experienced by his character Francis Crozier in last year’s “The Terror,” Jared Harris is back playing another role packed with peril. Here, he’s Valery Legasov, a real-life individual tasked with determining what led to the massive power plant failure.

As evidenced in this trailer, “Chernobyl” is set at the title facility in Pripyat during the final years of the Soviet Union, but the show takes a modified “Death of Stalin” approach to accents. Still, even in carefully selected images from the series, it supports what series writer and creator Craig Mazin has said about “Chernobyl” being a real-life horror story.

Already the highest-grossing Danish film ever — with each of its predecessors following closely behind — “The Purity of Vengeance” is the fourth adaptation of Jussi Adler-Olsen’s hugely popular “Department Q” novels about a Copenhagen cold-case police unit. It will also be the last in this particular series, as the screen rights have now transferred from Zentropa to Nordisk, with any future “Q” movies unlikely to retain the same cast or behind-scenes staples.

However lamented that baton-passing may be, there’s not much room for sentimental reflection in this high-gloss thriller, which is undeniably entertaining yet whose pleasures have the guilty edge of a particularly lurid airport read. With a hefty 215,052 admissions in its opening week, crime-drama The Purity Of Vengeance has achieved the best ever opening for a Danish film at its home box office. Zentropa and Christoffer Boe’s fourth installment in the Department Q-thriller franchise stars Nikolaj Lie Kaas and Fares Fares as chief detective Carl Mørck and his assistant Assad.

The Irish government will extend Section 481, the country’s main tax incentive for film and TV, until at least December 2024. It will also be introducing a ‘regional uplift’ of 5% to the scheme, which had been due to run out in 2020. ‘The Purity of Vengeance’ Scores Best Opening for Local Film at Danish B.O.
Christoffer Boe’s thriller “The Purity of Vengeance,” the fourth and final opus of the hit “Department Q” franchise, has scored the best opening for a local film at the Danish box office.

Produced by Zentropa, “The Purity of Vengeance” has sold more than 215,052 admissions since opening on Oct.4, underscoring the ever-lasting appeal of the Nordic Noir genre.

Louise Vesth, who produced the film at Zentropa, said that “considering the total Danish population counts about 6 million people, an opening with more than 215,000 admissions sold is incredible.”

“The Purity of Vengeance” was written by Bo Erhard Hansen (“The Art of Crying”), Nikolaj Arcel (“The Dark Tower”) and Mikkel Nørgaard (“The Absent One”), based on the fourth book of Jussi Adler-Olsen’s “Department Q” collection.

Time for a taste of some Danish mystery. Zentropa Entertainment has debuted the full official trailer for a Danish thriller titled The Purity of Vengeance, originally titled Journal 64. This film is about a series of mysterious disappearances in 1987 that are all eerily connected to the same person. The investigative thriller follows Carl Mørck and Assad from Department Q, who try to figure out how a bunch of dead bodies are connected and who's behind everything. The Purity of Vengeance stars Fares Fares, Nikolaj Lie Kaas, Nicolas Bro, Anders Hove, Søren Pilmark, and Elliott Crosset Hove. This looks very cool, a bit like The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo films or even Fincher's Se7en, but with some unique twists. Westworld showrunners already have an ending for the show, tease season 3 plans

With the season two finale of Westworld airing last month, fans of HBO series face a potentially lengthy wait for the continuation of the story, with co-showrunner Jonathan Nolan having suggested previously that season three might not arrive until 2020. Westworld season 2 ratings down on the first season

The second season of HBO’s critically acclaimed Westworld TV series wrapped up this past weekend, with Variety reporting that – as with the rest of the season – the finale fell short of the numbers the show delivered in its first season.

According to the outlet, Sunday’ season two finale pulled in 1.6 million viewers and a 0.6 rating in the key 18-49 demo, down 30% in viewers and 40% in the demo from 2016’s season one finale, which scored 2.2 million viewers and a 1.0 rating.

As it happens, these numbers match the average Live+Same Day ratings for the full season, which was down 14% in viewers and 24% in the demo overall compared to the first season. In terms of delayed and multi-platform viewing, HBO has said that season two will average around 10 million viewers per episode, which again is down from the 13.2 million average of the first season.

“Westworld” wrapped up its second season on Sunday, with the HBO series coming up short of the numbers it delivered in Season 1.

Sunday’s finale nabbed 1.6 million viewers and a 0.6 rating in adults 18-49 in the Nielsen Live+Same Day ratings. That is even with the episode that aired last week, but down approximately 30% in total viewers and 40% in the demo from the Season 1 finale in 2016, which drew 2.2 million viewers and a 1.0 rating. Furthermore, Season 2 of the show has averaged a 0.6 rating and 1.6 million viewers per episode in Live+Same Day. That is down approximately 14% in total viewers and 23% in the key demo from Season 1, which averaged 1.8 million viewers and a 0.8 rating.

Of course, HBO has frequently touted the fact that “Westworld” sees the lion’s share of its viewership in multi-platform and delayed viewing. HBO estimates that Season 2 of the show will average 10 million viewers per episode when the final numbers are calculated.
