Star Trek and Stargate are two of the most prolific and beloved science fiction franchises, and it is no surprise that actors would overlap between the two series. Both Star Trek and Stargate had shows running throughout most of the 1990s and early 2000s, and many actors made appearances on both shows. Star Trek and Stargate often borrowed episode titles and even plots from one another. Each Stargate series follows a different team of adventurers as they explore various planets by traveling through a massive Stargate that was discovered in the ruins of Giza.
The Stargate franchise began with the Stargate feature film in 1994 and would continue with three television series and two made-for-television movies. The first of these was Stargate: Sg-1 (which concluded with two movies), followed by Stargate: Atlantis, and Stargate: Universe. With ten seasons, Sg-1 was the longest-running genre show until the CW's Supernatural claimed that honor with its fifteen seasons.

Stargate Atlantis is one of science fiction's longest-running TV series. For 5 seasons (2004 to 2009), it followed an international team of scientists and military personnel led by Lieutenant Colonel John Sheppard (Joe Flanigan) as the members discovered a Stargate network in the Pegasus Galaxy and went face-to-face with a new, powerful enemy, The Wraith.
Yes, the series had all the intergalactic bells and whistles--spacecraft, lasers, aliens (such as Jason Momoa playing Ronon Dex), and what have you--but was also infused with humor and had a number of episodes to appeal to even non-sci-fi fans such as "Outcast," "Miller's Crossing," and "Vegas," where the characters played alternate versions of themselves. Sheppard in particular, was no longer a self-confident, heroic leader but a scruffy, down on his luck Nevada detective.

On Monday, April 14, at 8Pm, Syfy will be premiering its newest series, "Metal Hurlant Chronicles". The show is imported from French company We Productions and follows the sci-fi anthology Metal Hurlant, better known in the United States as Heavy Metal.
We got a sneak peek and will let you know what to expect.
The episode Syfy shared with Dread Central is "King's Crown," based on a bloody tournament being held to determine the new king as the previous ruler is nearing death.
The episode is absolutely loaded with awesome fighting action featuring Michael Jai White and Scott Adkins. The athleticism and choreography displayed in the various dueling scenes is easily worth the price of admission here.
Aside from the fighting, which is obviously the centerpiece of the episode, the acting is okay and the digital effects are very good at times, but not always consistent. There are a few spots...

To mark the launch of its new game, Stratego Sci-Fi has surveyed more than 2,000 Britons to chart the Stratego Sci-Fi 100 – the nation’s top 100 stars of the sci-fi world – as well as a separate poll charting the best sci-fi battles from the silver screen – and has crowned Superman the greatest sci-fi character of all time
Following up the Man of Steel in 2nd place in the Stratego Sci-Fi 100 was Harrison Ford’s gruff but lovable rogue Han Solo, with Frank Oz’s jedi master Yoda coming third, both representing Star Wars in the top three and rounding it out firmly in George Lucas’ favour. Steven Spielberg’s E.T may be one of the most lovable characters of all time, but only made it to fourth in the list, followed by Will Smith’s Agent Jay from the hugely popular Men in Black series at number five.

The kind of actor who can change the skin of the macho man type of roles he usually plays.

I had no idea that a TV series was being created around the popular magazine Heavy Metal. I think most of us have just been waiting around for David Fincher's movie to happen. Unfortunately, it doesn't look like that film is moving forward anytime soon.
This new TV series is called Metal Hurlant Chronicles, and is only set to air in France for now, but I imagine somewhere down the line that it will be released in the U.S. as well. The series has already filmed two seasons that feature 12 half hour long episodes. Some of the actors involved with the series include Rutger Hauer, Scott Adkins, Michael Jai White, Kelly Brook, James Marsters, Joe Flanigan, Michelle Ryan, and David Belle.

Or actually, the guy who is all “Taken” in the new movie “Six Bullets” is Joe Flanigan (of “Stargate: Atlantis” fame), but it’s Jean-Claude Van Damme’s gun-for-hire character who seems to be running around kicking all the asses. I’m guessing Flanigan gets to throw down a time or two, though you wouldn’t know it from the trailer. “Six Bullets” (a rather strange title, that) is due out on DVD August 21, 2012 from Sony Pictures. No idea if it’ll also be available on Blu-ray, though studios are starting to skimp on that now on titles they don’t expect to do a lot of business with. If you've been aching for some good old Jean-Claude Van Damme action, here's a chance to get your fix while you're waiting for "The Expendables 2." The Muscles from Brussels shows off some serious skills in this trailer for "Six Bullets," a direct-to-dvd movie that will hit the shelves August 21st.
When Andrew Fayden's daughter is kidnapped, he goes to the best in the kid-rescuing biz, Samson Gaul (Jcvd). The ex-mercenary has the skills to pay the bills, and luckily Fayden (Joe Flanigan) is a former Mma fighter with a sweet tribal neck tattoo, so between them no butt goes unkicked during their search for Becky (Charlotte Beaumont).
"Six Bullets" leans on the real problem of human trafficking in Eastern Europe for the plot, which reminds us of another angry papa bear with "a very particular set of skills" and a kidnapped daughter.
"Finding people, it's what I do," Samson says with an air of melancholy.

Jeannie (Kate Hewlett) got a message from him four hours ago and he was fine. Woolsey (Robert Picardo) wants her to have a chance to say goodbye to her brother. Sheppard tells her of the "snafu on the last mission." Dr Nicol's team hasn't called in. Sheppard and the team were sent to the town and discovered the stargate under water. He sends a message back to send through a jumper. They must stay until the stargate is accessible when the water level lowers. Sheppard complains he got wet when he had to dial the Dhd. Ronon tells Rodney he's letting the hot air out of his mouth everytime he opens it. Rodney fell asleep in the jumper when they were rescued eventually.

Sheppard (Joe Flanigan) and the others talk about the planet they have checked out and about the flying monkey. Rodney (David Hewlett) claims it's not the Wizard of Oz. Teyla (Rachel Luttrell) believes the planet was suitable to inhabit. There's a power spike in the jumper and Sheppard loses the steering, then power is lost and they miss entry into the stargate. There's interference and Rodney finds there's displacement current in the jumper, which should not hit them as it's dangerous. They find themselves in decaying orbit. The pod powers up and they lose life support. The power then returns. I quite like the floating stargates in space. Being sustained there in the middle of nowhere. No other jumpers have been exhibiting such problems so it was Sheppard's flying of it, but that was funny, no? Sheppard says the alpha site is perfect except for the monkeys. Rodney says the...

Stargate: Atlantis star Joe Flanigan has allegedly signed up to provide voiceover work for Electronic Arts' rumoured Army of Four. The actor revealed the casting via Twitter, but initially mistook the game for a Battlefield spin-off. "Just signed on to do the new AO4 video game for Electronic Arts. Some splinter from Battlefield. Finally, my kids think I am cool again," he wrote. Flanigan later released his error and tweeted: "Actually, showing how distinctively uncool I am, I think I have (more)...

Rodney (David Hewlett) complains about Teyla (Rachel Luttrell) not letting him hold the baby, after he dropped him. Rodney was dropped when he was little. Sheppard (Joe Flanigan) "that explains a lot." The Daedalus arrives at Atlantis but there's no one on board. The actual Daedalus is on its way to earth so this one isn't their one. They fly to the ship and find scorch marks underneath it. As well as an energy reading. Inside there's an abandoned jumper and it's cold. I said that jumper was theirs, as will be explained later. Rodney analyzes the ship and finds it's him, "think there's a ghost on board." The log entry shows the ship was abandoned by Commander Sobol, whom Sheppard doesn't know nor has heard of. The energy reading fluctuates and the ship jumps into hyperspace. They can't reach Atlantis and Lorne (Kavan Smith) can't reach them, either. Rodney exclaims the city isn't there.
