Evil Morty will return with showrunner Scott Marder teasing "grand designs." His backstory has not been completely filled in, but his motivations are more defined. Evil Morty poses a looming threat, showcased in Rick & Morty season 7.
Rick & Morty showrunner Scott Marder teases Evil Morty’s future in the Adult Swim series. Initially premiering in 2013, the adult animated show follows the adventures of Rick Sanchez, an alcoholic, ill-tempered super scientist and his teenage grandson who journey through different dimensions. At various points throughout the show, the leading duo has gone up against Evil Morty, an antagonist who serves as a foil for another major villain, Rick Prime.
Marder recently spoke to Variety, explaining that Evil Morty, who played a major feature in season 7, will return in the future. Evil Morty assists Rick in killing his nemesis Rick Prime in the middle of season 7, and Marder assures that they have plans for the character.

Copying the plot, themes, and style of Back to the Future too closely can detract from the viewer's immersion in the story. Rick and Morty, Doctor Who, and Avengers: Endgame all draw inspiration from Back to the Future in different ways, exploring the consequences of time travel. While many films and TV shows pay homage to Back to the Future, they also strive to create their own unique story and develop their own characters.
Back To The Future has inspired many films and television shows that came after it, and due to the iconic nature of the film, it's easy to spot when a piece of media is doing more than just referencing the work. Paying homage to a beloved film is a time-honored tradition, and there's nothing wrong with intertextual references in film, it's what creates the vocabulary of cinema. However, for comedic effect or not, copying the plot,...

Season 7 of Rick and Morty adapted several opening title gags into episodes, but there are still untold gags that the cast would like to see adapted in the future. Some of the untold gags mentioned by the cast include Sensei Jerry and Butter Morty, which they find intriguing and want to see explored in future episodes. The closing gag in the credits featuring Rick, Morty, and Summer being chased by a Cthulhu-like creature has sparked theories, but it has already been adapted into a comic, making it unlikely to be explored in the show.

Holiday sitcom episodes bring warmth and a sense of community, allowing characters to grow closer within their little world. Unconventional holiday episodes, like Rick and Morty's "Ricktional Mortpoon's Rickmas Mortcation," can be hilarious and fit seamlessly into a sitcom. Sitcoms like The Office and Friends use holiday episodes to explore different cultural perspectives, creating laughs and finding common ground among friends.
While numerous hit TV sitcoms have included multiple holiday outings across their seasons, some shows' Christmas episodes stand out tall among the rest. Over several decades, countless sitcoms have included holiday specials during their runs, with some episodes focusing on the holidays themselves or the build-up to the festive days. With the themes of the holiday, their annual rewatchability, and typical focus on exciting ensembles, it's unsurprising that some holiday episodes rank among the best of certain popular sitcoms.

Through its first six seasons, identifying who voiced one of the many aliens, critters, or goobers on Rick and Morty was a pretty easy thing to do. That’s because, in addition to performing as the titular lead characters, co-creator Justin Roiland also embodied most of the show’s strange background players.
Following season 6, however, Roiland was fired from the series due to receiving domestic battery charges (later dropped) and multiple allegations of sexual assault. With Roiland gone, multiple actors have stepped in to fill the roles of Rick, Morty, and the whole other host of characters from the Adult Swim hit’s increasingly large constellation of galaxies, timelines, and multiverses. Even without the personnel change midway through, Rick and Morty‘s cast of voice actors was already pretty confusing beast to make sense of. So let’s try to do exactly that.

Rick and Morty creator Dan Harmon has an idea about what could potentially trigger the ending of the popular adult-animated sitcom.
After nearly a decade since Rick and Morty made its series debut in Dec. 2013, the Adult Swim series still shows no signs of slowing down any time soon, as it prepares to enter its seventh installment this October. Speaking with The Hollywood Reporter, Harmon revealed that if it’s only up to him, he would like Rick and Morty to run for 100 seasons because "it’s designed to." When asked about his thoughts on how the show would wrap up the titular duo’s storyline, Harmon revealed that Rick and Morty’s adventures could possibly end once Morty becomes an official teenager.

Dan Harmon had a productive discussion with Warner Bros. about the development of a Rick & Morty movie and thinks it's time to get the ball rolling. Harmon envisions the movie as a 90-minute super episode, allowing for fancy animation and crazy sequences. The discussions are still early, and there has yet to be any confirmation about the movie going into production.
Producer and creator Dan Harmon gives encouraging an update about the proposed Rick & Morty movie. The popular animated show follows the many dangerous multiversal and intergalactic adventures of Rick Sanchez and his grandson, Morty Smith. Since the show's debut in 2013, there have been speculations about a movie. Last month, Harmon hinted at the possibility of the film becoming a reality, adding that it would be like a super episode.

Dan Harmon’s hit adult-animated series Rick and Morty may potentially make its way to the big screen in the near future.
Since debuting in 2013, Rick and Morty has continued to be one of Adult Swim’s most popular and acclaimed animated shows to date, amassing multiple awards including two Emmys for Outstanding Animated Program. That’s why, it would certainly not be a surprise if the titular fan-favorite duo would follow in the footsteps of The Simpsons and South Park, and star in their own movie someday. “Rick and Morty” has dropped a Season 7 trailer that features the new voices for the duo originated by creator Justin Roiland.
“Rick and Morty are back and sounding more like themselves than ever! It’s Season 7, and the possibilities are endless: what’s up with Jerry? Evil Summer?! It's been a while since season 6 of "Rick and Morty" concluded, and a lot has happened in the meantime. Most notably, news came out that the show's co-creator and most prominent voice actor, Justin Roiland, had been charged with domestic battery and false imprisonment in May 2020. Since then, there have been a number of other sexual assault allegations made against Roiland, as well as news that he was involved in a settled sexual harassment lawsuit back in 2019. In the end, Roiland was removed from both the cast and creative team, with Adult Swim announcing that his characters would be replaced with soundalike voice actors.
Outside of Roiland's absence, there are plenty of other concerns and questions "Rick and Morty" fans have had over the past year. How will the show deal with this new evil Rick? Is the show really going to embrace a serialized structure, as Rick's final monologue implied?...

“Rick and Morty” will return on Oct. 15 for a 10-episode Season 7. New episodes of the Adult Swim original will premiere at 11 p.m. Et/Pt.
This season will debut in over 134 countries in 38 languages. In the U.S., new episodes will be available for digital purchase the day after they premiere linearly on Adult Swim. Season 7 is then expected to come to streaming in 2024.
In 2022 alone, the sci-fi animated comedy reached over 19 million viewers on linear broadcast and remains one of Max’s top series. Typically, when it comes to choosing a “Rick and Morty” episode to submit for Emmys consideration, it’s a struggle to find a non-canon-heavy show that can “really blow an Emmy voter’s mind but still be palatable to anybody,” executive producer Steve Levy told TheWrap.
“That’s the hope at least,” he said.
Season 6’s “Night Family” met those parameters, an installment that simultaneously manages to hone on this family’s complex dynamics, serve as a pitch-perfect horror homage and push the animation “to a whole new level” without requiring hours of backstory to understand. But there’s another reason why this episode stands as an especially smart selection for the sci-fi-series. On nearly every creative level, “Night Family” showcases how Dan Harmon’s Adult Swim can adapt and has evolved.

Rick and Morty producer Steve Levy addressed how Justin Roiland's controversial exit affected the production of the upcoming Season 7.
Speaking with the Los Angeles Times, Levy revealed that despite the challenges, the Rick and Morty crew was able to overcome it by relying on each other and not letting Roiland's absence affect their hard work. "We had a rug pulled from underneath us," he said. "The only people we could lean on were each other. It would have been very easy to just say, 'I'm done and I don’t want to do anything with this show anymore.' But our crew said, 'No, we're not going to let one person drag down all of our hard work.' This show is created by this team — this family of incredibly hardworking people, and we are going to push through and show the world that we aren’t going to miss a beat.

Rick and Morty executive producer Steve Levy revealed how they’ll replace former series creator Justin Roiland as the voice of the titular duo in the next installment.
During the show’s panel at San Diego Comic-Con, Levy was asked about their recasting process for Rick and Morty Season 7, following Roiland’s dismissal from the show after domestic abuse allegations against him surfaced. He confirmed that they’re currently looking to enlist soundalike actors of Rick Sanchez and Morty Smith, with recasting nearing completion. "It’s soundalikes. The characters are the same characters. No change," Levy said. "We are closing in on the end of our process of the recast."

The TV academy has honored voice-only performances since 1992, when six cast members from “The Simpsons” collectively became the first actors to receive Emmys for such work. The Best Voice-Over Performance category became an official non-juried one in 2009 and was then split into two categories in 2014: Best Character Voice-Over and Best Narrator. Harry Shearer (“The Simpsons”) was the former category’s first champion, having been nominated once before for the same series.
The 2023 Best Character Voice-Over ballot consists of 148 performances, which is down by 74 from last year. Seeking her third victory is Maya Rudolph, who plays Connie the Hormone Monstress on “Big Mouth.” Also in the mix are former winners Shearer, Hank Azaria (“The Simpsons”), Alex Borstein (“Family Guy”), and Seth MacFarlane (“Family Guy”).

A significant change is ahead for the Rick and Morty series. The characters voiced by co-creator Justin Roiland, including the show's title characters, are being replaced via dubbing.
Created by Roiland and Dan Harmon, the Rick and Morty show revolves primarily around the relationship and travels of the two main characters. Rick is an eccentric and alcoholic mad scientist who goes on adventures with his 14-year-old kind-hearted and grounded grandson, Morty. The rest of the voice cast includes Chris Parnell, Spencer Grammer, and Sarah Chalke.
In January, Roiland was charged with two counts of felony domestic violence. Those charges were later dropped due to insufficient evidence, but Adult Swim has decided to stand by the decision made at that time to part ways with Roiland and recast his characters.

Only two things are certain in every universe: chaos and a never-ending stream of new “Rick and Morty” seasons. After nearly 10 years on the air and six seasons, “Rick and Morty” has come a long way from edgy “Back to the Future” parody to cultural juggernaut. The animated series has permanently impacted internet and TV culture, whether through the absurdity of Pickle Rick or causing a nationwide rush to McDonalds to obtain a singular packet of Szechuan sauce.
“Rick and Morty” is a sci-fi comedy series co-created by Justin Roiland and Dan Harmon about the interdimensional adventures between alcoholic irresponsible scientist Rick (voiced by Roiland) and his teenage grandson Morty (also Roiland). The rest of the cast includes Morty’s disliked and dismissed father Jerry (Chris Parnell), Rick’s stressed daughter Beth (Sarah Chalke), and Morty’s older sister Summer (Spencer Grammer).

It’s been 12 years since “Greek” wrapped its run on ABC Family — which of course, is now Freeform — but the cast is still hoping to see a revival of the show someday. And yes, that includes Jake McDorman.
While on the red carpet for his new Peacock series “Mrs. Davis,” McDorman was quick to jump on board when TheWrap floated the idea of a revival series, enthusiastically noting that he and his former co-stars all still talk regularly.
“Yeah! I’m still friends with all those guys, we talk all the time,” McDorman said. “The guys, we all kind of live close — in fact, I think, I talked to Clark Duke earlier, I think he’s gonna be here — but me, Scott, Pj, Jacob Zachar, Clark, we’re all still super close, so I know we’d be down.”

“Rick and Morty” is expected to fulfill its 70-episode order despite Adult Swim’s recent decision to cut ties with creator Justin Roiland, who has been charged with felony domestic violence related to an incident that first surfaced in a January 2020 criminal complaint.
An individual with knowledge of the matter told TheWrap that Roiland has been less involved in the series in recent years, but affirmed that not only is “Rick and Morty” moving forward, the series also is not expected to cut short its expansive episode order. There are 40 episodes left to produce and air from the initial 70-episode order.
Roiland has voiced both titular characters since the series premiered back in 2013, though the source noted that those roles will be recast moving forward.

Adult Swim has cut ties with Emmy-winning “Rick and Morty” co-creator Justin Roiland, nearly two weeks after he was charged with felony domestic violence related to an incident first surfaced in a January 2020 criminal complaint.

The Last Leg has divided viewers after sharing their version of a football anthem to mark the World Cup 2022.
The football tournament kicked off in Qatar on Sunday (20 November), with England winning their first match 6-2 against Iran the following day.
After the win on Tuesday (21 November), the sports comedy show The Last Leg shared their anthem for the World Cup on social media, which was first broadcast during the episode on Friday (18 November).
To the tune of David Baddiel, Frank Skinner, and The Lightning Seeds’ track “Three Lions”, the parody song points to some of the controversies attached to the event and its host country.
Issues have included reports of mistreatment of migrant workers as well as Qatar’s criminilisation of homosexuality.
In The Last Leg’s version of the song, “It's becoming homophobic” is sung in place of the original chant: “It’s coming home, it’s coming.

From The Simpsons to Family Guy to South Park, certain animated shows seem to keep going and going, but could Rick and Morty be one of them? Series co-creator Justin Roiland certainly thinks so.
From the very first episode, Rick and Morty established just how long the series could last (100 years!) and Justin Roiland told Total Film that he doesn’t see the series concluding anytime soon. “There’s obviously some kind of narrative threads that you want to push towards some kind of resolution,” Roiland said. “But I think this show, like a lot of other really awesome animated shows that I love, has the potential to just go and go and go.” Adult Swim has a lot of faith in the series, even giving it an unprecedented 70-episode renewal back in 2018. Roiland points to an “infinite” amount of sci-fi stories in the multiverse that could keep the series going for years to come.

Adult Swim has debuted a new Rick and Morty Claymation Halloween special. Rick and Morty is an animated series created by Justin Roiland and Dan Harmon, which began in 2013. The series follows the adventures of Rick, a super scientist, and Morty, his average grandson. Roiland voices the two leads alongside Chris Parnell, Sarah Chalke, and Spencer Grammer.

I’ll be honest right up front and admit that I have never seen a single episode of Rick and Morty. I have completely missed out on this pop culture phenomenon. I know there are shades of Back to the Future to it, I’ve heard about Pickle Rick and the love of Szechuan Sauce. But I haven’t actually seen any of it. But I am familiar with the work of Claymation filmmaker Lee Hardcastle, who has made a lot of cool shorts, created the music video for the Gunship song “Tech Noir”, and contributed to the horror anthology The ABCs of Death. So it’s cool to hear that the Rick and Morty folks have teamed up with Hardcastle for a horror short that is going to premiere at midnight on Sunday, October 30th on Adult Swim. Rick and Morty fans are no stranger to waiting lengthy periods of time for new episodes. Seasons 2 and 3 and seasons 3 and 4 each had a two year wait between them, with season 4 having a midseason gap of nearly five months between the broadcast dates of episodes 5 and 6. Thankfully, the last two years have seen a pretty regular influx of new Rick and Morty episodes, with seasons 5 and 6 premiering close to a year apart. But that doesn’t mean that learning the series would be taking another break in the middle of season 6 didn’t hurt a little.
Season 6 is arguably one of the series’ best so far, deciding to finally explore and add more to its canon without shirking the creators’ ability to do whatever the heck they want to. So far this season, we’ve learned that Morty’s (Justin Roiland) real grandpa,...
