Fresh off Nosferatu being nominated for four Academy Awards, Bloody Disgusting is excited to announce that visionary director Robert Eggers has hand-selected eight movies that influenced his gothic-horror hit feature for Conjuring Nosferatu: Robert Eggers Presents, an upcoming series from Film at Lincoln Center that’s being presented this February.

Presented from February 5 through February 9, the program kicks off with a special 35mm screening of Nosferatu, joined by eight films selected by Eggers as companion pieces.

“I am honored to share this collection of films that inspired my adaptation of Nosferatu,” Eggers said in a statement. “It’s a world of Gothic Romance, fairy tales, and folklore, made by filmmakers with a passion to transport the audience to another time, another place, and another way of thinking and believing.”

Blu-ray.com is reporting that Universal Home Entertainment has announced that not only is Nosferatu getting a 4K Uhd Blu-ray release, but there will be an extended cut of the film as well. The Blu-ray and 4K Blu-ray physical media items is scheduled to hit retailers on February 18.

The description reads,

“Robert Eggers’ Nosferatu is a gothic tale of obsession between a haunted young woman and the terrifying vampire infatuated with her, causing untold horror in its wake. Starring Bill Skarsgård, Lily-Rose Depp, Nicholas Hoult, Aaron Taylor-Johnson, Emma Corrin, and Willem Dafoe.”

Robert Eggers' Nosferatu proved to be a huge success for Focus Features, and the acclaimed filmmaker is staying with the studio - and firmly in the horror genre - for his next project.

THR reports that Eggers is set to helm Werwulf, which he also co-wrote with fellow The Northman scribe Sjón.

Just in case the title didn't give it away, this will be a werewolf movie. Plot details are few and far between, but THR notes that the story will be set in 13th century England. "The script also features dialogue that was true to the time period and has translations and annotations for those uninitiated to Old English."

It remains to be seen if the werewolf will be rocking a moustache.

Apparently, Eggers was initially planning to shoot the film in black and white, before deciding against it.

Continuing its relationship with filmmaker Robert Eggers, Focus Features will produce and finance his next film, “Werwulf,” according to an insider with knowledge of the project.

The film will be released in North America on Christmas Day, 2026. “Werwulf” follows the release of the tremendously successful film “Nosferatu,” which quickly became the biggest non-sequel Horror opening in 2024.

Eggers is reteaming with Focus Features for his next film “Werwulf,” a werewolf horror feature that he will direct from a script he co-wrote with Sjón, Variety has confirmed. The film is slated for a Christmas Day 2026 release in North America.

Focus Features most recently financed and released Eggers’ critically-acclaimed gothic horror film “Nosferatu,” starring Lily-Rose Depp, Bill Skarsgård, Nicholas Hoult, Emma Corrin, Aaron Taylor-Johnson and Willem Dafoe.

Eggers and Sjón, who also co-wrote 2022’s “The Northman” together, are producing “Werwulf” alongside Focus Features, while Maiden Voyage’s Chris and Eleanor Columbus are serving as executive producers.

Eggers and Focus Features have partnered on all his films to date. In addition to “The Northman,” “Nosferatu” and the upcoming “Werwulf,” the studio has also collaborated with the horror filmmaker on “The Witch” (2015) and “The Lighthouse” (2019), for which Focus handled international distribution through Universal International.

On Tuesday, Focus Features announced that an extended edition of Robert Eggers’ Gothic horror success is now available for rental or purchase at digital providers like Amazon ahead of the film’s physical media release next month.

The extended version of Nosferatu, which includes less than four minutes of previously unseen footage, will also be available on 4K, Blu-ray, and DVD beginning Feb. 18. The home media release features a director’s commentary from Eggers and a multi-part documentary on the making of the filmmaker’s passion project.

DC Studios Co-CEO James Gunn has clarified the complex canonical status of his previous DC projects, establishing that only content starting with the animated series “Creature Commandos” will be considered “pure canon” in the new DC Universe (Dcu).

In a recent statement on Bluesky, Gunn addressed mounting questions about continuity in the Dcu, particularly regarding his earlier works “The Suicide Squad” and “Peacemaker.” The filmmaker introduced a nuanced approach to canon, describing his 2021 film “The Suicide Squad” as an “imperfect memory” while noting that “Peacemaker” remains “almost entirely consistent” with the new universe’s canon, barring its Justice League connections.

Nosferatu continues to sink its teeth into the domestic box office, becoming the second highest-grossing movie for its studio. The remake of the classic 1927 silent film has posted strong numbers, both domestically and internationally, and the movie is generating significant buzz for the awards season. The movie, which stars Bill Skarsgård, Lily-Rose Depp, Nicholas Hoult, and long-time Robert Eggers collaborator Willem Dafoe, has enjoyed a strong theatrical run, helping it to set a record for its studio.

According to Deadline, Nosferatu's domestic gross has now seen it become the second-highest-grossing movie of all-time for studio Focus Features, moving ahead of the acclaimed Oscar-winning movie Brokeback Mountain, which took $83 million domestically. It ranks behind only the Downton Abbey movie, which took a staggering $96.8 million during its run in 2019, making it the studio's most successful movie ever. Nosferatu also ranks as the studio's seventh highest-grossing movie globally, with over $142 million worldwide.

Christopher Reeve's live-action version of Superman made viewers believe a man could fly, and the film is still seen as a landmark of cinematic spectacle. One of the film's most memorable aspects is its excellent score, created by Williams, adding to his legendary discography.

Exclusive: If there’s one takeaway from the holiday box office season, audiences couldn’t quit Focus Features’ period gothic horror movie Nosferatu.

The Robert Eggers-directed title is now the Universal specialty label’s second highest-grossing release at the domestic box office at $84.4 million, overtaking 2005’s three-time Oscar winner Brokeback Mountain ($83M) and ranking behind the studio’s top-grossing title ever, 2019’s Downton Abbey ($96.8M). On a global basis, Nosferatu ranks as Focus’ seventh highest-grossing title with north of $142M worldwide.

Also noteworthy, Nosferatu is reaching its great heights at the B.O. sans award noms from the Golden Globes or Oscars (which have yet to be announced) or festival buzz; such lynchpins were in part responsible for the breakout success of 2005’s Brokeback Mountain, Ang Lee’s gay-themed Western.

Focus also has bragging rights in that Nosferatu beats the domestic haul of any title, including horror, when compared with its specialty rival A24.

Eggers has proven that he is one of the most creative directors currently working, and Nosferatu is his most successful movie yet. Reviews for Nosferatu have been exceptional, and the film currently has a score of 85% on Rotten Tomatoes (via Rotten Tomatoes). Beyond its ratings, Nosferatu has also performed very well at the box office.

The story of Nosferatu follows a vampire who becomes obsessed with a recently married woman and leaves his castle in Transylvania to be with her. The cast of Nosferatu includes Bill Skarsgård, Lily-Rose Depp, Nicholas Hoult, Aaron Taylor-Johnson, Emma Corrin, and Willem Dafoe. In Nosferatu, Skarsgård is unrecognizable as the sinister vampire Count Orlok.

The first official poster for James Gunn's Superman was released along with the trailer last month, and featured a striking shot of David Corenswet taking flight as the Dcu's Man of Steel.

A new teaser for the movie is expected to debut during the Puppy Bowl in February, but it'll probably be another while before Warner Bros./DC Studios begin the marketing campaign with more one-sheets.

Universal and Blumhouse’s “Wolf Man” reboot and the Keke Palmer-led comedy “One of Them Days” will contend for the top slot on box office charts over the Martin Luther King Jr. holiday weekend.

Regardless of which lands in first, neither are expected to break out in what’s shaping up to be another quiet weekend for North American cinemas. “Wolf Man” is poised to open to $17 million to $21 million from 3,300 venues over the four-day frame, while “One of Them Days” looks to collect $8 million to $13 million from 2,650 theaters between Friday and Monday.

Universal and Sony each canceled the premieres of “Wolf Man” and “One of Them Days” due to the fires and extreme winds in Los Angeles. In terms of moviegoing, though, attendance doesn’t appear to be affected by the devastating wildfires that continued to ravage though parts of Los Angeles, one of the biggest theatrical markets in the country.
